In 2002 I went to this dealer wanting to buy a car. But NO ONE came to talk to me. After a while I left and purchased my VW from another VW dealer nearby.

Now it is 2012 and I want to trade in my VW. I decided to go to Bayside VW again but again NO ONE helped me. I was there for 15 minutes. All the dealers were just sitting at their desk. The showroom consisted of 3 parties needing assistance and NONE of the many dealers even got up to greet any of the people in the showroom. The receptionist couldn't care less, and acted like it was normal for customers to be ignored for 15 minutes.

I don't want to make accusation that are not true. But I wonder if these salesmen are too busy watching inappropriate stuff on their computer screens? Why would any salesmen NOT greet potential $$customers$$ that come to their doors?? Really strange and makes you wonder what is wrong with these people.

Perhaps these people are racist. All the salesmen here were white and the dealership is situated in a very diverse community.

Buying a car seems to always be a stressful situation. You can be made to feel very uncomfortable with the negotiation process and even more uncomfortable and pressured if you can not come to a "meeting of the minds" on price. The folks at Bayside Volkswagen were extremely friendly and personable. I really felt like they wanted me to leave with the car that best met my needs and a price that I could feel comfortable with. I did buy and I am extremely pleased with my purchase. However, if I had not bought I do believe I could have walked out the door still feeling comfortable with the option of coming back at another time to shop again. This is my first experience with Bayside Volkswagen, however it would be my pleasure to recommend the dealership to other buyers.

I have only recieved the BEST ever service at VW in Great Neck Service Center. Mgr. Mike Dulce happens to be both a courteous and professional man and Gino the Head Mechanic is also one of the nicest people and mechanics. I have had several mechanical challenges in the past two years and their service and repair has been outstanding to say the least. I was given loaner vechicles each and every time my Jetta needed repair with courtesy and outstanding service. My Jetta was repaired to VW standards and performance with impeccable service. I found all their employees to be friendly, courteous and professional far and above the norm; they extended their services both graciously and efficiently, and always there to help and assit. They provide Courtesy Van Service to all their clients with convenience and respect. I can not say enough positive feedback about the quality of their establishment and service. I believe you reap what you sow~

DON'T GO TO BAYSIDE VOLKSWAGEN. They are UNETHICAL, unprofessional and rude. Warren Graham, the service advisor, told me I had to make "X" number of repairs before they could pass New York State inspection. This list of repairs included a number of items not required by NYS law to pass inspection. I showed him documentation of NYS Inspection/Emissions Requirements and asked him if he was prepared to do the same, which obviously he could not. They failed my inspection because I told them I would not make repairs that I am not required to make to pass inspection. One of the items they told me that failed the inspections test was that I had three different tires, irrespective of the fact that all tires satisfied the requirements promulgated by law. I took my car elsewhere and was able to pass inspection successfully.

Additionally, a relative of mine also had a problem with the dealer involving the installation of a defective oil filter on a brand new car (2006). They knew the oil filter was defective, yet still installed it. She brought the car home and ALL of the oil spilled out onto a $20K driveway. We reported the problem to Bayside VW and they have yet to fix the damages to the driveway for which they are liable. We have been in contact with both Susan Cochran (who also manages Helms Bros., which owns Bayside VW) and Frank Onolfi regarding the damages Bayside VW is liable for; they continue to claim they will send someone to clean the driveway but that has yet to happen (it's been over seeks weeks).

Consumers should know that property laws protect property owners exactly from this kind of situation when someone or an entity has proximately caused damages to your property. They are liable, plain and simple.

Note: FRANK ONOLFI is immensely RUDE. He extremely belligerent, condescending, and verbally abusive. He has only exacerbated the situation with verbal abuse and assaults and Susan, his boss, has openly condoned it in front of him, ignoring all complaints regarding his aggressive and petulant behavior.

Additionally, although the car is covered by a WARRANTY, Bayside VW charged her for repairing a defective airbag, claiming that a rodent bit the wire. When we asked to see the wire, they said it was not accessible to the eye (yet they were able to determine that it was bitten by a rodent). A customer is not responsible nor obligated to bear the cost for VW's negligent design of their airbag system.

BAYSIDE VOLKSWAGEN IS A RIPOFF.

Consumers, educate yourself. Follow the link below to know what is required by NYS law to pass in inspection:

http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/broch/c-50.htm

I encourage anyone who has been ripped off by Bayside VW to make a report to the DMV and the Attorney General's Office. It's fairly simple:

Call the DMV ((518) 474-8943) or fill out the form and file a complaint:

http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/forms/vs35.pdf

Attorney General: http://www.oag.state.ny.us/complaints/complaints.html

I also encourage you to review the dealer here and elsewhere so that other consumers can make informed decisions.
