Sasha has been cutting my hair for years and nails it everytime. She's so good that when a friend at work raves about her stylist, turns out, it's my Sasha. She cuts my husband's hair, too, so does great work, men and women alike. You're in good hands with Sasha.

I just moved to New York City from Florida and was lucky enough to move at the same time as my hair dresser, Owen. I live on 155th street and made sure to go all the way to brooklyn to have Owen do my hair. The salon is amazing, and Owen is extremely talented. Just walking 5 feet outside of the salon, I had three people ask about who had done my hair. Cut, color, styling ... I trust him with my life (for those of you who are as scared as me of someone hacking up your hair)

I HIGHLY recommend Owen for whatever hairstyle you're looking for!

I have been going to Kerry for my color for about a year now and am always happy with my color. After a scheduling conflict I decided to see someone else, as I was in desperate need of a highlight, and got streaky and yellow disgusting and sloppy looking color that can only be described as amateur. I had my best friend's wedding that weekend (which is why I was so desperate in the first place) and had to make a last minute appointment with Kerry to fix my wrecked hair. She not only made time for me, but magically corrected the botched job and created the gorgeous color I have gotten used to. I now know that Kerry is the absolute best and I will never again get lazy and see anyone else.

after having many haircuts that were just ok, Owen cut my hair so that it REALLY looks good. He made it stylish and edgy but it is still very me. He really listened to me and worked with my hair, which is very straight and fine, and I am very happy with his work.

I've lived in New York and Los Angeles for the past five years, and have gone to every salon from Fredrick Fekkai, bumble & bumble, to Jose Eber. I'm extremely picky about my hair, but decided to try Woodley & Bunny after an excellent recommendation from a stylist friend of mine. Owen gave me a haircut, and he was amazing! Best haircut of my life, he took the time to listen to what I wanted and gave me a style that is extremely flattering and fashionable. I will never go to anyone else again, people literally stop me in the street to ask who did my hair (a first for me!). I highly recommend getting your haircut at Woodly & Bunny and make sure you ask for Owen! Not only is he incredible with hair, he's also a really cool person and will make you extremely comfortable!

I recently had my hair cut by the salon's newest addition, Sasha, and experienced one of the best in-salon experiences of my life. Very attentive and interactive, she did an amazing job with my hair, I booked my next appointment before leaving the salon. You will not be disappointed, don't wait because her book is going to be booked solid by the time you finish reading this review.

in terms of hair dressers i'm totally addicted and completely devoted to woodley and bunny's newest addition, stylist/colorist owen gould.
seriously, i wont let anyone else near my head.
not only has he been able to tame my crazy white girl 'fro but he has given me buttery blondes and beautiful brunettes to boot!
in my 7 year relationship with this stylist we've had many a great adventure in cut and color.
no matter what direction we decide to go in i always leave owen's chair feeling super fly.
he knows the right cutting techniques and products to give me luscious layered curls.
when i'm feeling a bit more conservative i go to owen for a classic blow-out which, thanks to his great talent, leaves my hair bouncy, sleek and smooth.
owen is a great guy...i dare say he's dangerously hip.
he is always coiffed to perfection himself and knows insticitively how to make a client feel comfortable and beautiful.
you can trust him with your hair no matter the texture or thickness.
he will listen to your needs and help you choose a style/color that reflects your personality and perspective.
whether you're and tattooed indie chic or a wall street money mogul owen's cuts and colors will help you to express your own personal style.
you can count on loving the finished product and perhaps even falling in love with owen himself...i know i have.

Sasha joins Woodley & Bunny! Sasha has been cutting my hair for several years now on the Upper East Side, and I feel immensely lucky to have found her. She is truly a sculptor- an artist, in general. She strikes the essential but incredibly challenging balance of being both cutting-edge and classy, which has been essential for my specific double life: working in finance by day and being an artist/graduate student at night. When I leave the salon I could go to an opening reception at the Whitney or go to a graffiti party downtown, and this kind of versatility is rare and fantastic. Sasha, herself, is young, painfully hip, and radical, but is incredibly professional and knows how to tailor a cut to meet her customers?? particular needs. And for you intellectual types looking for more than just a hair dresser, she is one of the most unassumingly intelligent people I know, whether you are into discussing French existentialism, Russian Film, or the best kind of bike to buy to ride around the city--- she always has something interesting to say. For the best cut and conversation in town, I recommend Sasha without qualification. So glad she??s now styling in Williamsburg?seems like a good fit for her!

I have been getting my hair cut at a different salon for a over a year and lately have been leaving less than pleased. A friend suggested I go see Sasha at Woodley and Bunny; She is THE BEST. She really worked with my hair texture and kept the length that I was holding on to.
She changed my hair just enough to give me the confidence I needed and I have been receiving compliments ever since my visit to Woodley & Bunny. Sasha is super sweet and has great style. GO SEE HER!
I will definitely be back.

For years, I have been going from hair stylist to hair stylist. I've often left unsatisfied because I felt like many stylists don't listen to what you want, but do what they want. I was referred to Sasha through a friend and haven't looked back since. She is AMAZING! Not only do I leave feeling like a rock star every time, but she really listens and works with my hair texture. She is extremely knowledgeable of products that will work for me and is always trying to find a good price on products for me. She is truly a gem! I won't ever let another stylist touch my hair after having Sasha!!!!

For years I would hesitate to get haircuts in fear of having them take too much! Sasha listened to what I wanted and through her experience suggested to cut my hair dry as a great way to cut fine hair. I have been wanting to do a bang and she was able to do it in a way that I can also sweep it to the side when I want a different look. I lOVE IT, thank you Sasha.

I've been going to this salon for almost a year now. This is the first time in years that I've actually gone to get my haircut at a proper salon. I go to Erika, and she's AMAZING. I have quite challenging hair being that it's been bleached platinum blonde for many years and difficult to manage. But, Erika has been wonderful by helping with the maintenance of it and has always given me excellent haircuts. She's even helped turn the condition of my bleached hair around. The rest of the staff there are equally as lovely. This salon is highly recommended!!!

I have never been so upset about a hair cut. I called and was told that Jessica was good with curly hair and all I wanted was a trim. She cut my hair straight across. My 1 inch off turned into 3-4:( I think my 7th grade embarrassing hair cut was finally topped. My summer picture were ruined-thanks... The rudeness of her service was just topping on the cake-totally do not recommend!!

I just moved to New York a few months ago and was in dire need of a haircut. Not knowing anywhere to go a friend of mine referred me to Tommy at Woodley and Bunny. When I finally gave in and called up the salon I had an appointment that week. I got the best haircut and haircutting experience of my life. Tommy took great care of me and the service was great. (Complimentary water/tea/beer/wine) I'll never go anywhere else again.

I am normally a bit skittish about people doing things to my hair, as I have had many "stylists" ignore my requests and decide what was "best" for me. Jessica C. listens to your wants/ needs and can execute them to perfection. And if you're not sure what you want, she is very good at gauging what would look best on you. She is a master in her field- she can layer and dye your hair like no other and, as an added bonus, she's cute, funny and smart, so you won't be bored whilst your hair is being beautified. What more could you ask for?

Before Jessica, I didnt have a steady stylist and never had the same person doing color/cut but she is so fantastic with both I can't imagine going to anyone else. In the last year since I've been her customer, Jessica's helped me rock a few different lengths, bangs, and a few different shades (baby steps for most, but huge for me!!) and couldnt be happier. I have total confidence in her skills and would recommend her to anyone :-)

I ran down into Woodley & Bunny the day before my very, spur-of-the-moment wedding and everyone there was totally kick-ass and eager to help. They scheduled me with Michael who fit me in that day for a consultation and his mind was rollin' w/ ideas based on my dress . . the next day I threw an entirely different dress at him and he took it in stride. I have no hair sense whatsoever and will forever be grateful to Michael for handling my ignorance and w/ such ease styling my hair into a classy/se_y/fun updo on which I was complimented all day - especially by my husband! The look was fabulous and the service was phenom.! I highly recommend this salon and this man to handle anyone's hair-related request.

When Michael told me he was leaving Seattle for Brooklyn, I was sitting in his chair and started crying. (Literally! Tears.) I'd been devoted to Michael for almost ten years, and during that time he led me through a variety of creative, fun styles and colors, all suited to my head and my personality. I've grown accustomed to people complimenting my hair. Several of my friends started going to him too, and we all conferred desperately when he left. What would we DO?

I can't recommend Michael highly enough. He even knew better than I did what would work for me - sometimes I'd leave the salon weirded out and apprehensive, only soon after to adore the style he'd given me. I do a fair bit of public speaking and VIP elbow-rubbing, and I would always make sure to visit Michael before any event.

He also has a great manner, and is cute! (And if you're a tattoo fan, be sure to check out the one I did for him - I'm an artist and it's on my blog: www.ellenforney[dot]com/blog/?s=michael+tattoo

Woodley and Bunny is a beautiful, clean, professional and totally down to earth salon. I had a great time there.

I made a last minute appointment and they were able to squeeze me in same day. My appointment was with MICHAEL and I cannot say enough good things about the experience. He really took his time with me, asked me questions about my hair texture, styling habits, past haircuts, and (of course) what I wanted in this haircut. Well -- I was totally inarticulate and unprepared to describe what I wanted, and Michael still managed to decipher EXACTLY what I wanted.

Also, he sings along to the music. Michael is great!

Whew!
I went to Woodley & Bunny with a hair emergency and thank god I did.
I have poor impulse control & had a moment at the Duane Reade where I saw a box of hair dye & delusionally thought I could achieve it. Note: do not try to put light brown dye on top of hair that has already been dyed chestnut brown, good things will not come.
The ashy weird light green/brown/orange cast to my hair did not add to my features by any means.
After trying to scrub it out numerous times I made an appointment at Woodley & Bunny for a consultation. I've been buying products at their store for awhile but had never had my hair done there.
I met with Michael who was so patient and listened to the whole ordeal of what led me to this weird hair color. He assessed the situation and took his time with me talking about what we could do & what it would take & cost.
I made my appointment for the next day & left feeling so excited & so relieved.
Michael was awesome. He totally had a vision and easily worked through the process of getting me back to natural looking hair. I left with shiny silky hair so close to my beloved old natural color with gorgeous natural looking highlights--no stripes!
I can't wait to go back & work with him again & I'm so excited to have found someone I can trust!
Have your hair colored by Michael--you are in fantastic hands & you will not be disappointed!

Have your hair colored by Michael--you are in fantastic hands & you will not be disappointed!

.

Michael is an artist, pure and simple.

I am one of the most annoying people out there when it comes to my hair. I get bored easily and like to change my look often, but I rarely have a specific cut in mind or know what will work and what won't. I love that I can go in to see Michael, tell him how I want to feel (which is usually "hot and like maybe I'm a bit of a handful. Trouble--but in a good way!) And I swear to god, he nails it every time. People constantly compliment me on my hair, which isn't the point exactly, but it's still pretty sweet!

Another thing I love is that he manages to make me hot, and yet still "age appropriate". I'm in my 40s, but I don't look it, and I don't want to look like anyone's fricken MOM. Even a hot mom. Screw that! I'm also not trying to look like I'm in my 20s. I need to rock what I've got, and the right hair helps me do it. With Michael, I never feel overdone or like my hair is wearing me. I always leave his chair feeling twice as good as when I sat down, because I always look awesome!

I'm not one to put a lot of thought or effort into actually going to get my hair cut. Like shopping for clothes, it's something that I clearly have to do from time to time and I want it all to look great in the end but going to get it done strikes me as a hassle. I went to see Kate at Woodley & Bunny on a friend's recommendation and the whole experience was great from start to finish. Shmancy salons give me the retard tingle kinda like malls do but the receptionists were very sweet, the assistants on-point (the hair wash I got from Meg literally made me smarter), and my time in the chair with Kate was chill and I ended up with, no hyperbole, the best haircut I've ever had. Kate' s an artist of the highest order. She has years of experience, can listen to incoherent directions and, with her razor, translate that babble into a cut that fits what you personally more than you probably could've imagined. She understands the idea of an individual living in his/her own skin...and hair...and is genuinely invested in and enthusiastic about your reaction to what you're going to have in public on your head for the next month or whatever. She's interested in you. Boom. I feel weird gettin all spazzy and gushy writin about my damn hair but, in this world these days when I come across someone who is exceptional at what they do I feel compelled to let them and anyone else who'll listen know it. Alright...and she's gorgeous and has great taste in music. Bonuses all around. I'm back without hesitation the minute I need a trim. Be nice to her and leave a fat tip.

Pros: staff staff staff

Cons: the room kinda feels like you're in a fishbowl

NOT A GREAT SALON FOR MEN. While I have been going here for some time, doubt I will go back to the salon after today. I understand that this is not a barbershop and I do not expect barbershop prices when I go here. However, I asked for a trim around the ears and back - which took less than twelve minutes - and they still charged me full price of $65 plus tip (for 12 minutes, people!). Definitely not worth it - could not even tell a difference with my hair once I got home. Was very disappointed.

I've lived in New York City for five years, and I've finally found the perfect haircut. I tend to be disloyal to stylists, bouncing from one to another. But I'm gonna stick with Caroline. The first time I saw her, I gave a brief description of what I was thinking about, and she gave me an awesome cut that looked great with my hair type and fit my style. I decided to make a couple changes the last time I saw her, and she was receptive and accommodating. All in all, Caroline is flexible and talented and has great ideas for my hair. She's a great listener and seems to have an intuitive sense for what I'm looking for in a haircut. As long as I live in the city I'll go to Caroline at Woodley & Bunny.

Woodley & Bunny is great all around, actually. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere for a haircut.

Jessica is by far my favorite stylist that I have ever had. I never have a plan for my hair-cut or color because I trust her decisions 100%. I know that I am guaranteed the most trendy, fun "masterpiece" every time I see her. She never lacks creative ideas and always has new suggestions. I also value her genuine, honest opinion. Her sweet personality and passion for her job are added bonuses. If you want the best stylist and killer hair (that always gets tons of compliments), I would recommend Jessica hands down!

I've been getting my hair done at Public since last summer. I started with Alder, and then Tommy, and now I go and see Laura. With each stylist I got a completely different look. Alder made my hair pretty and flowy. Tommy added some punk-rock princess style to it. And Laura found my natural look. It's true! Originally my hair was blond when I entered Public, and eight months later it became red. I get complimented all the time. And people cannot believe it's not my natural hair color. I absolutely love my time with Laura. She has an innate sense of hair. When I came in for my first visit with Laura she told me she had a dream about my new cut and color the night before. I couldn't believe how in-sync she was with exactly what I wanted. I left feeling confident and beautiful. The best thing about a Laura cut is how well it grows out. Some stylists cut your hair and it looks good for a week or so, but months later, my hair still looks for fantastic. I go to Woodley and Bunny now, where I get a glass of wine upon arrival, and the best hair experience. I just got my hair done, and everyone is telling me how awesome it looks! Seriously!! I do miss the full albums that played during my time at Public, but I guess I am going in for my hair, and not just the music. And really, my hair is really incredible!

I had been going to Jessica at Public and will absolutley continue to do so at W&B. She has really helped me transform my hair- it has never looked better! My hair is very fine and thin- she has shown me some really great tips and products that I use at home and get fantastic results with. My sister started to see her also and is so thrilled she carries some of Jessica's cards with her to give out when people ask her "who did your hair?" not kidding- She's the real deal.

I have been seeing Ja' Cole for almost a year, and am very happy overally with the cut and color. In fact, I would go almost as far as saying that I don't think I've ever gone to a place where I've been happy with the way my hair looks everytime I leave, but this is pretty much the case with Woodley.

Having been a loyal Public Salon customer, I was a bit surprised to learn that it had closed and moved all its stylists to sister salon Woodley and Bunny. I usually see Ashlee or Alder and their cuts at Public were great for my hair type (short, thick, male). But seeing that they were unavailable and I would be leaving to travel abroad this week, I decided to haphazardly try out one of the original Woodley stylists, Caroline. I explained, as I did to all the other hairstylists I've seen in my lifetime, what I wanted. I must've been speaking in piglatin because more than twice she expressed confusion at my simple request. After snipping away briefly on the sides and real briefly on the top, she told me she was finished. Was she joking? My hair was hardly short and still dry and unwashed. Her harsh combing didn't help. I explained that I wanted shorter; I felt a little bad because I could sense her frustration, but wasn't I paying for this service? She ultimately decided that she did not know what I wanted (a simple shortening of my hair) and did not charge me and offered to make an appt with any other stylist. That was quite nice of her, but I still felt she was being a little condescending, as if it were my fault she could not get this simple haircut right. I had to do damage control at home and fix it myself- it is a little better. I usually would not care to write a review, but this seriously ruined my week and possibly my European vacation starting the following week. I wanted to look cute for it, but I guess I've learned my lesson: make appts with your preferred stylist ahead of time.

Laura Leigh is my new muse. She is the best stylist I have encountered in many years. I have long thick curly hair that is easy to destroy, yet in my multiple visits Laura has done incredible work, every time creating a new and unique look for me. Her work is extremely versatile, and she creates styles that manage to be both edgy and clean, allowing me to go to work or go out with equal confidence. Best of all, she manages to accomplish that most sacred of all feats for a stylist, she makes my hair reflect who I am.
The salon itself is very open and pleasant, and the music is great. I wish they'd go back to playing full albums though. There is enough product to satisfy any need, be it for hair, skin, or scent. They have all my favorite product lines, and they've introduced me to some great new ones. Plus, I get offered a beer when I go in, and I mean really, how can you beat that? This salon has taken the trauma out of getting difficult hair to look great.

What I recieved from Tommy at Woodley and Bunny was perfect. Super cool with absolutely no BS.
I have long hair so you would think getting a good haircut would be easy. Honestly, it's not. "Stylists" are always taking an absurd amount of time trying to get fancy with tricks.. layers etc... which always makes my hair look fluffy and super generic...
Tommy gave me an honest haircut that I love. The process was very quick and delivered with perfect charm and confidence. In the end, the details of my cut are excellent and quite simply.....it looks really AWESOME!! :D

Thank you!!!

Andy Starkweather is hands down the best hairstylist I have been to, EVER. He is the only person that I let near my hair anymore, and I am one fussy lady. On my first appointment with Andy he somehow, through osmosis or what have you, knew exactly what I wanted with a mere stern glance and the utterance of "severe" on my part. It has been my favorite haircut ever since, with occasional pop-ins for maintenance. Andy is the bestest.

PS he also has interesting tattoos to look at while you are being groomed.

Ok, so I've been going to W&B since November. The first time I went in, my colorist turned my hair green. Apparently the toner she used was "mislabeled". I went in the next morning and it was corrected and all was forgiven. I went back, again and again, and never quite got what I was asking for. I didn't want to change stylists either because I was getting married in the summer and didn't want a new stylist to screw it up even more. So I got married, my hair got longer, I was really blond, and always felt like I was getting slightly cheated by W&B. When I had my hair blown out after my cut and color, they always managed to style my hair a la Jennifer Anniston circa Friends. Definitely not the look I'm going for- I do live in Williamsburg after all. So this last month, when I went in to get my hair done, I asked to go slightly darker. Sure, they said, no problem. I leave with my hair still quite blond, blown out like Jennifer, and with green streaks framing my face. This I had a problem with. The total for my bill was something like 385, including tip, and I have never felt more ripped off in my entire life. I called the next morning and asked to speak to my stylist but she was off until 3 days later. I told the receptionist about my hair color and I asked for the manager to call me back. He never did. I called again and left a message. MY CALL WAS NEVER RETURNED! I left for a month long business trip with green streaks in my hair. Luckily with some toner and shimmer lights I was able to get the green to fade within the next two weeks. But still, the damage was done, and I will never go back to W&B. Not recommended!

Ok, getting a haircut can be stressful, especially somewhere new. The last thing on the planet we want is a bad one because, let's face it, it's a miserable situation.

Having just moved to the city, and in desperate need of a cut, I found W & B right here on Citysearch. I was put off by some of the reviews, but bit the bullet and went anyway. I scheduled a consult, in case I had one of the so-called "dreaded hair stylists" (whom I now believe to be mythological creatures at this place) and got Ginger. I have long, thick, unruly hair (and I like it that way) but it needed some shape, and my bangs were way too long. Ginger fit me in after we talked (immediately), got me a beer (free!) and went to work. I'd never had a razor cut before so as she shred (yes, shred) through my hair, I got nervous seeing so much of it fall on the ground. By the end, I was worried about my natural layers turning into choppy flips... But, lo and behold, she knew exactly what she was doing (imagine that). I still cannot tell how she got rid of so much of my thick hair without it looking any different (even the length is still there), and the only difference is how much lighter my head feels.

Addressing some of the other issues that initially deterred me from other reviews:
The front-desk staff: from the telephone, to my check-in and payment, I have absolutely no complaints. When I made my consult, the guy on the other end listened to me vaguely describe my hair type, and he appointed me to Ginger, who he thought would know what to do (and she did). Totally polite, no attitude.
Price: Yep, it's a bit of a woe to the wallet. But: you get what you pay for! I once paid for a quick, cheapish cut in a moment of weakness and it was absolutely terrible. I have learned my lesson since.

I am now a W & B lifer and I'll swear by them until the end!

I had been going to a barber for awhile (or having my girlfriend cut my hair) but needed to go to a wedding so It was requested I get a good haircut. I happened by Woodley and Bunny and walked in on a whim, they fit me in right then with a stylist named Andy who just happened to have a cancelation.
After giving me a free beer, getting an awesome hair wash and head massage from his assistant, Andy gave me the best cut I have had in a really long time. I now use hair product, got tons of compliments and my girlfriend goes to him now too( her new haircut is super hot). I highly recomend this place, everyone seemed happy there and the space is really cool!

I had been looking for a salon to call home for a long time when I visited Woodley and Bunny after a friend's recomendation. Although my pals swear by Kate, I made an appointment with Tommy as Kate had the day off. Tommy made me feel comfortable and did a WONDERFUL job with my hair. I have long layers and was going for a long/sexy/layered look. I brought him a few pictures and he nailed it! He even helped me tame my cowlick - which has given me hair trouble for ever. They also make you feel quite welcome by offering beverages, magazines and a full hair product apothecary when you come in/wait. I've found my home!
