Way overpriced for the work done. Rude manager.
Receptionist would not let me speak to owner.
Do not go here. There are many much better auto repair services in Winchester. Trust me.

I was recently in minnicks shop for minor repairs and when i questioned a few of the charges all the staff became very upset and hostile. They treated me as if i was a criminal or something when i was clearly being overcharged. I have since took this bill to 2 other garages n the area and both gave me an estimate alot cheaper than minnicks charged. maybe they needed the extra cash to purchase some customer service training videos because none of the employees had any. I have also been getting similiar stories from the people that i have shared my experience with so I think the good reviews on here is probably an employee!!!!

I just love Minnicks! They are honest, fast, friendly, caring and more than efficient! I have taken my car to several places in the winchester area prior to Minnicks, and have always been lied to and over charged..( especially by MONRO MUFFLER!!! GRRR!) ....But Minnicks have always been good to me. I just recently had an issue with my check engine light and if I had taken it anywhere else, surely I would of received a ridiculous bill...But Minnicks made it clear that it was only something small, they corrected the issue, and I was very happy with the service.
I had taken my little car to Minnicks once before about a year ago and the owner was kind enough to call me and inform me of another issue he discovered while he was working on my vehicle, his exact words were " I noticed your belt appeared to be chewed up, I would like to fix this so you wont be left stranded on the side of the road." ( and SUPPOSEDLY Monro had replaced this same belt not long before this incident.) The owner didn't charge for the labor on the belt, only the part used and my car has run great!! I always will go to Minnicks and refer everyone I know to them! They are @#$%ing AWESOME!!! I love you Minnicks!!

Shortly after moving from Massachusetts 3 years ago a neighbor referred me to Minnick's. Since then, Minnick's has carried out the annual state inspection (fast, nice, helpful...), and also towed the car twice (tow truck drivers exceptionally quick to arrive, plus empathetic and so helpful). Five stars, Minnick's.

On June 22nd, my Ford truck towing a fifth wheel RV broke down on Intertate 81, South of Winchester. Thanks to you and your staff, major repairs were made, plus my RV was towed to Lexington. Your employees handled the situation expediently and professionally. Again, my thanks to you and your employees.
PS. My truck is working fine.

My husband, Eric, and myself were on a drive vacation along Route 50 from Sacramento, CA to Ocean City, MD when we started experiencing reaar brake grinding. We found the Midas in your town, but they couldn't look at our vehicle until the next day. The lady at Midas gave your shop as a reference to us, so we drove over to see if you could take care of us. Ken got us in very quickly and got our rear rotors and brakes replaced in less than 2 hours. We were so grateful for the quick turn around so that we could safely make it to our destination and back home. We wish we had an auto shop like yours near us, but we were happy you were there when we needed you! Thank you alot!

My family and I were recently stranded in your wonderful town when our car broke down on the side of Interstate 81. What began as a horrible beginning to our family Christmas was turned into a joy by the citizens of Winchester. Minnicks showed up to tow our car within 20 minutes of calling AAA. When they discovered a family of four, they called back to the shop and sent another gentleman in his personal car to pick up my family. The car was towed and diagnosed within half hour of arrival. Unfortunately, the part was not available for 2 days. The mechanic, Paul, called again and convinced them to overnight the part, even though it was very late in the day. He then personally drove us to a hotel for the night. The hotel staff was friendly and understanding. We walked over to the Apple Blossom Mall and had our family visit with Santa. Every person there was friendly, courteous, and took a special interest in our children. We then had dinner at Chili's where the busy waiter took extra time to flirt with my 4 yr old daughter, who thought he was "really nice". The next day Minnicks picked us up and had our car ready to go three hours earlier than promised. All for well under $100. Anyone in Winchester in need of car repair, take my advice and go to Minnick's. The people there do good, honest work in a professional manner. And any motorists out there traveling through the Winchester area, do yourself a favor and stop. Take a moment to enjoy this fantastic town. Thanks to all who made what could have been a nightmare a fantastic experience.

I had to get my car inspected at the last minute and they were able to get it done for me very quickly. They had several people ahead of me but worked very quickly to get us all in and out and on our way. All the other places I tried had a few people ahead of me but I was told it would be a hour or so wait!
Very happy with the service and timely fashion it was done!
I will continue to have my inspections done there every year.
Oh and the downtown construction is finally done so it was easier to get to!

While driving through Virginia the beginning of November on a Sunday, we had a problem with our Durango when we stopped in the rest area in Winchester, and when I called my RV Roadhelp for assistance, they sent Minnick's to our rescue. We want to thank you for the outstanding service we received from you.The tow truck driver you sent out to us, Kenny, reached us in about 30 minutes after our initial call. He was very friendly and went about his work with ease. He went to work loading our Durango on the flatbed and then hitched up the U-Haul trailer we were towing. He parked the Durango and trailer in a narrow alleyway between 2 buildings and we were impressed with his expertise. Its not easy backing up a tow truck with a U-Haul trailer attached. Kenny took us to the Best Western and we spent the night. He gave us the phone number of the shop and told us to call about 8am the next morning. When we called Ken the next morning, he told us there was a sensor that went bad and would be replaced. He was very accomodating and friendly on the telephone and said he would call us back in about an hour to let us know when the Durango would be ready. Sure enough, he called and told us it was done and he sent Kenny back out to get us. The Durango and U-Haul were hitched and ready to go and we were back on the road by 11:30 Monday morning. We really appreciate the exceptional service that you provided to us and the reasonable cost. We would highly recommend your company to anyone in need of a tow and repair. Keep up the good work!

Since June 24th I have enjoyed driving my air-conditioned Cadillac. The "auto" button has remained in place and to date there have been no further problems with hot air coming through the vents on dashboard. This note is to thank you and youir repair staff for taking the time to service my car and obtaining the small part from Cadillac that has kept my car's ac functioning. Again, I thank you for your perserverance in this matter.

To everyone at Minnicks: Thanks so much for taking such good care of us when our 2000 Ford Econoline broke down on our way to our family's house. You towed our van, replaced our started and picked us up at the hotel. We apprecaite all that you did to get us back on our way!

I strongly disagree with some of these reviews listed. I have been dealing with Minnick's for years now and have had nothing but great service! The loser griping about a $165 tow bill sounds like someone who got a DUI during Apple Blossom. I had my car towed across town to the shop and it was $55.00. . If your tow bill was $165.00, then you definately got pulled over by the police and your car was impounded, NOT towed in because it broke down. I just like how people can blame others for THEIR mistakes. I strongly recommend Minnick's as a very reasonable garage and great customer service, with their office staff, mechanics, and towtruck drivers... Keep On Doing What You Are Doing Minnick's!

I strongly disagree with some of these other reviews. I had a car breakdown on interstate 81 at 10:30 PM and AAA towed it to Minnick's Auto Repair in Winchester. The next day I spoke to Ken and he agreed to look at the car. After a number of phone calls with Ken a plan was implemented. I would highly recommend Minnick's. The customer service was exceptional. Ken's knowledge was valuable and the expense was less than I had anticipated. Great job Ken.

I don't agree with the bad reviews here. I'm a local and have dealt with various shops in the area over the past 30 years. I have to say the personnel at Minnicks are some of the most competent mechanics around. The management seems very reasonable with regard to prices. Most impressive is their willingness to help. On one occasion, the starter on my car completely failed at 4:00 pm in the afternoon. They towed me under my AAA to their garage and replaced the starter and I was out by 5:45pm. Their shop closed at 5:00, but three mechanics and the owner stayed over to get me back on the road. The price was about $50 more than what I would have paid for a rebuilt starter from Carquest. That special customer service has made me a repeat customer. With regards to the gentleman recommending Clem's Garage, either you must work for them or you haven't had a lot work done there. You're lucky if you can get your vehicle back repaired within week. They've went downhill significantly since the sons took over.

Some time ago, my husband bought a used car that broke down on him a short time later. He left it on a parking lot in town. When he returned a few days later to get it, the car was gone. He was under considerable duress during this period, and never pursued the whereabouts of the car.
Shortly thereafter, he moved out of Va. and got a driver's license in another state. Recently, he went to renew his license here and he learned of a problem with VA DMV. He had never received any correspondence from them since his move, so this was a great surprise to us.
We learned from the local police that the car had been towed by Minnick's at the request of the property owner where it broke down. We called Minnick's and asked what might have become of the car. A woman named Renee said it would have been held for 90 days and then crushed, contents, tags and all. She said they didn't have records back to the date we had provided. I asked if they could give us a letter that explained their procedure for a car that is not redeemed. She said they could do that but 'the owner charges for that' and she didn't know how much it would be. I could call back and ask him.
When I called back the following week, I spoke to a man named Bill. He said he wasn't the owner but he listened to my story and my request. He then transferred me back to Renee. After a brief pause, she came on the line and said they could do such a letter but it would cost us $250.00. Mind you, we were asking for a couple of lines explaining their procedures. We were not asking them to fabricate any facts, or to dig through any records. Their letter could have helped bolster our case with the DMV by showing that the car would not have been on the road at the time in question. This could supplement our letter from our insurance company that shows when the insurance was transferred to another vehicle.
We were prepared to pay a reasonable fee for their assistance. $250.00 is NOT reasonable! We are not wealthy people and this whole situation is not typical for us. That the folks at Minnick's would try to extort such a high fee under the circumstances is unconscionable. No doubt, they have already taken the costs they incurred for this car off on their accounting and tax records. I wonder at the legality of this 'fee'.
There is always a chance to do what is right. From the postings on this page, apparently the folks at Minnicks choose otherwise. There's an old saying, "What goes around, comes around". They better hope that they never find themselves in an unfortunate circumstance where they need help. They may just reap what they have sown.

Business Response:

Receptionist The vehicle was stored at the lot here for WAY MORE than 90 days before the vehicle was disposed of. The fact that they wanted a letter stating vehicle was not in their possession at the time of question would have required research on our parts, we can not just take the customers word for the dates without having records reflecting the same. If the owner would have taken care of the issue as it happened, and not some time later, it may not have been so much conflict. People just assume cause they leave the vehicle on the side of the road or in a parking lot that the issues will just disappear, and be forgotten. But the truth is, the DMV is up on the tags and registrations to ALL vehicle titled and tagged in VA. Therefore, we cant just type a paper stating the facts that customers say, when in reality, it will come back to US if the dates dont match. I dont see how that makes us the bad guys!!!!
