Unfriendly and unfair

by BklynBabe

I like to support local and instead of ordering online I bought an item from this store. They were very unfriendly and even when I spoke with the "owner" didn't get a pleasant response. I will never buy from them again and won't send any of my friends there either. Too bad since I am a local artist. Plus, their stock is SUPER over-priced.

Pros: Local business

Cons: Rude to customers

Unbelievably friendly staff

by daveistrad1

I needed a gift for a friend, and decided to come in on a whim. The owner of the store was incredibly helpful and patient, and took the time to help me select a gourgeous assortment of beads, as well as some crafts materials. Suffice to say, my friend loved the gift. Will definitely be back.

Pros: great staff, great selection

Bead Box is a friendly place stocked with millions of gorgeous things from which to make jewelry. I love that after picking out your beads, you can pull a chair up to the crafting table--thoroughly stocked with tools-- and hang out as long as you want, making pretty things. Plus, without being intrusive, the staff is really great about helping you complete your projects. Definitely 5 stars.

Thumbs down.

by CSMobileUser

I've only been to the shop twice. I had been hoping that the second time, I would be treated more courteously and that my initial experience was a fluke, but unfortunately both instances were less than favorable. The staff member was so intolerant with my beginner questions that I was made to feel like I was interrupting something even though I was the only person in the store. I live in BK and chose to shop there to support local buisness, but this is simply not worth it. The selection is unremarkable and more expensive than many of the manhattan stores, and I'm not sure what it takes to be treated with respect there. I guess being friendly and asking questions about beading isn't enough.

Only jewelry class offered in Brooklyn

by raulandlucia

So... I like to get crafty. Due to the fact that I have some time off due to an upcoming surgery I decided that I finally had time to check out the Brooklyn Bead Box. I googled jewelry classes and the Brooklyn Bead Box is the only one that I could find, and sine I live in Brooklyn, I was supper excited. I called the BrooklynBB to sign up for three classes. The person told me that she was new, and she had no idea how to sign me up for the class over the phone, and the owner would be out of town for three days so I should call back. I decide to drive over to the Brooklyn BB to sign up a week after my initial phone call to sign up for the classes in person. The woman behind the counter looked at me as though I was from a different planet. She acted as though she was the customer and I was the owner. I had to explain my skill level and what I was interested in, as well as the dates, she didn't have anything to say.... nor did she have any questions for me. The store was dead. I will not be surprised if I am the only person in attendance at the three classes I signed up for. I mean if you were a business owner wouldn't you try to be sociable, especially if someone is a new customer.... I plan on buying my beads in the city, since I wasn't interested in any of the BrooklynBB bead selections. The BrooklynBB seems like the kind of store who is owned by someone who has inherited enough money to go into business, and doesn't really care if they are sucessful business person or not.

Pros: Great Location, Great Space

Cons: Staff, Bead Selection

At the Brooklyn Bead Box I feel at home

by Flora2501

I have been shopping at the Brooklyn Bead Box since last May. This store is not only a place to shop, but an invitation to develop your creating side. Everyone at the store is always helpful, friendly knowledgeable! I feel at home at the Bead Box. They are so friendly that once they kept the store open longer to assist me with a project!
I can count on Erin to order rare supplies or to answer my endless questions. She takes the time to answer me and to email me when my order is ready for pick up. Their attention, passion and dedication is worth mentioning. Erin and her staff are my inspiration. I don?t know what I would have done without them.

Pros: Helpful, friendly knowledgeable staff. Great selection!

Best bead shop in New York!

by campfire

I stopped by Brooklyn Bead Box last week and I fell in love with this shop! The atmosphere is very relaxed and inviting and there is a large selection of beautiful beads. The owner, Erin, was very helpful and patient and she even took the time to help me design a pair of earrings. There was an earrings class starting soon after I got to the shop, so the owner suggested I join the class. It was great and I learned the basic skills for making a simple pair of earrings. I had never made any jewelry before, so I appreciated the extra help and advice.

The previous reviewer said that the employee who helped her was not attentive, yet she also said that she went to the store during a party. Perhaps whoever helped her was just preoccupied with the other customers at the event. My experience with the store was wonderful and I would recommend this shop to anyone who wants to make their own jewelry and receive hands on help.

Pros: large selection, helpful staff

Cons: small shop

Nice Beads But Very Rude Employee

by mistystafford

I went to Brooklyn Bead Box to check out their Wine and Bead gathering, plus take advantage of their 10% discount they offer during this event. I also went with some design ideas but had some questions how to execute them. Well the employee that was working at the time (I think her name was Erin) was so rude and not approachable. Every question I asked her she looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. I am not sure if she really knew much about beading or was just not feeling like being helpful. This rude person was even talking down to me like I was a complete idiot. When I was asking about what some of the beads are made of, she snapped "It's labeled on the outside of their box" which was not the case. Some were labeled and some weren't, which I had to point out. Then when I checked out, I had to remind her about the %10 off, otherwise it seemed like she wasn't going to do it on her own.

I don't think I'll ever shop at this store again. The beads are pretty but pricey. I think next time I'll take the extra time to go into Manhattan and shop in the garment district with cheaper prices and much bigger selections.

Pros: pretty beads

Cons: rude staff
