I noticed many dealers are buying their jewelry from isaybid and reselling on craigslist for 10-20 times the amount. Check isaybid for quality jewelry for pennies on the dollar!

I think the first poster must have been to a different BBB. I've had nothing but great experiences here! The staff is awesome and I always have a great time hanging out there. The icing on the cake is the lovely piece of jewelry to take home with me. I love Erin, Ellie,Leah etc... Keep up the good work ladies!

I have to say that when I found this shop online I was very excited, so I went to check it out. I thought it was especially cool that I had the option of sitting down with other beaders... maybe get a piece done or get some tips. All of my optimism however shifted to awkward uncomfortableness pretty much the moment I entered the shop. I felt like I had intruded, like I had just walked into someones living room. The owner was there (I'm assuming her name is Erin after reading the posts) and another young woman. I walked around uncomfortably, was never greeted or asked if I needed help. After maybe 15 minutes of browsing, I finally attempted to ask a few questions about product. She seems annoyed, cold and even condescending then went back to her conversation with a friend. The whole air in the shop felt thick. Regretfully I went on to purchase a couple of tiny bags of seed beads and had the same cold, unhelpful experience to say the least. I felt like I had just entered the twilight zone and left feeling confused and disappointed. I thought maybe it was me? I decided never to go back simply because it was so unpleasant. Oddly enough, I was recently given a gift certificate (groupon) for the same shop. I decided to call with an open mind & give it another shot. I asked the owner if she carried beading looms and sorry to say was met with the same bizarre, condescending exchange. Needless to say I won't be using the groupon. I agree with the other reviewer. I'd much rather go into the city were I know I'd get better service, wider variety and lower prices.

I went here with my girlfriend the other day, and must say we were blown away with this place. She wound up spending an hour working on a project, and wouldn't stop raving about the selection and the staff. I just stayed and chatter with here while she was working, and the staff here totally respected her vision of the piece, but was also very willing to help out with great advice at key junctures. All in all, we had a great time, and she's been wearing the necklace she made non-stop. I highly recommend this place as a great way to spend and afternoon.

I love the Bead Box! Maybe the people who wrote those other reviews were pushy or something, because I've found everyone I have encountered there polite and knowledgeable. Erin, the owner, in particular knows everything about beading and has helped me with several projects. The selection of beads is amazing--they really have stuff I don't think you're going to find anywhere else. Totally recommended!!

I LOVE this bead shop. I've read some of the other reviews on here, and am SHOCKED they're talking about the same place. I particularly don't understand the last reviewed, complaining about the staff not notifying you about projects

I wish I could support this local business but after how we have been treated I will never go back. Overpriced and with a rude owner - all in all a bad buying experience. Stay away!

I like to support local and instead of ordering online I bought an item from this store. They were very unfriendly and even when I spoke with the "owner" didn't get a pleasant response. I will never buy from them again and won't send any

Pros: Local business

Cons: Rude to customers

The woman who runs this shop is consistently rude. I've visited several times since the shop has opened and she has warmed up only slightly. Recently I got a surprising smile and "hello" as I walked in. But once I started asking for help, she was once again instantly and obviously annoyed with me. As a result I don't ever get the assistance I need and my projects go unfinished because I don't want to go back and repeat the bad experience.

I went to check out BBB's
Wine and Bead gathering to take advantage of the10% discount. I also had some ideas of designs and had questions on how to execute them. Well the employee that was working there (I think her name was Erin) was incrediblely cold and rude. Every question I asked her she gave me a weird look like I was speaking a foreign language. I'm not sure she even knew much about beading. I was asking about certain beads and what type they were and she responded coldly "They are all labeled on the out side of their box" which was not the case. Some were labeled, some weren't. On top of that when I was checking out, I had to remind her about getting 10% off, otherwise she wasn't going to do it herself.

This shop has nice beads, but they are pricey. I would rather take the extra time to go into Manhattan to shop in the garment district to get cheaper prices.

I don't think I'll ever shop at BBB again.

Even if you have never done any beading before or haven't done it since your 7th birthday, this lovely little shop will make you want to give it a whirl. The selection of beads is endless and they provide a work area for you to get right to it. Don't have your own tools? You can use theirs. They also have a play area for kids. On thursdays they have Bring your own wine and bead night from 7-9!
