I went here for a massage and haircut, having never seen the place before. The salon part of La Dolce Vita was very nice and the stylist did a good job, but the cut that I ended up with wasn't exactly what I had asked for. The massage was great, but it was a little awkward because there's just one room with a massage table right off from the main salon. I don't think I would go here for any spa services again, especially since there are plenty of other full-service spas in the area.

Ladolce Vita is the perfect place to go for a relaxing afternoon at the spa. The aroma hydrating facial is to DIE for, and the whole staff is professional, clean and friendly.

I have been to this spa twice, both for bridal parties, and it was perfect.

We live in Minneapolis but we were visiting Boston last weekend (Sept 10th) for our Anniversary. I searched spas, deals, reviews etc.... trying to find a place that did a couples massages, same room, same time, 2 therapists at a reasonable price. La Dolce Vita meet all of our needs so I scheduled.
The receptionist was friendly when I called and gave me clear walking directions from our hotel.
Backbay area was great. The Spa was nice. Our therapists were great! We had relaxation massages very soothing and nice. It was the kind of massage perfect for vacation.
The staff in the salon were loud, I understand that part of the negative reviews, but, the spa rooms were on a separate floor and were private, comfortable and peaceful.
We had a great experience and when returning to Boston would return to La Dolce Vita Salon.

Great service and a wonderful place to relax and unwind. A suggestion for others is to search for local spa discounts at sites like groupon, lanirvana, and buywithme to save some money and make the most of your experience. It is always better if you can enjoy a discount and make more frequent trips to the spa.

I went in yesterday and had the best massage and facial EVER. The entire experience was relaxing and awesome! The staff were friendly, helpful and extremely good!!

I highly recommend La Dolce Vita! I rarely take the time to write a review for services, but this experience was so exceptional I had to!

At the recommendation of a co-worker I spent a wonderful day at La Dolce Vita--facial, massage, mani & pedi...pure heaven!!! I was welcomed warmly when I arrived, and felt totally pampered for my whole stay. They made sure I was comfortable and happy. Although everything was great, the facial really stood out: it was the best I've ever had. The only bad part of the day was leaving. I've already booked my next visit and can't wait to go back! Thank you La Dolce Vita!!

The most unprofessional encounter I have ever witnessed anywhere happened at La Dolce Vita Salon & Day Spa in Boston over this past weekend. I was in the waiting area and was completely disgusted when I witnessed a young woman ?? a customer of the spa - being made fun of, and threatened by the staff. This young woman had attempted to pay for her spa services with a gift card given to her recently by her boyfriend. The staff member had told her the gift card was no longer valid because her boyfriend had called the spa earlier that week to let the staff know that things weren??t working out with the girl and he wanted his money back. La Dolce Vita refunded her boyfriend and made the gift certificate invalid. Mortified, as this whole encounter took place in front of several other customers and staff members, the woman explained she had no other way to pay for these services. At this point the management got involved. Their response to the young woman was that she would have to pay for her services immediately or else they were going to call the police. So the management at La Dolce Vita seem to think that the Boston Police actually have nothing better to do than to come down to Boylston Street and sort out the mistake they made by getting involved in a couple??s relationship. Also, since when are gift cards refundable? I guess the geniuses at La Dolce Vita think this is good business sense, and I suppose that is good news for some of us. After all Christmas is coming and those of us unsure of our relationships can just purchase La Dolce Vita gift cards. That way if things aren??t working out in January La Dolce Vita will just give us our money back and break up with our girlfriends / boyfriends for us. This classless, over priced act appears to be run by a bunch of caddy 12 year old girls, and they need to go.

I received a gift certificate for a "Little Escape Package"- Massage, manicure, pedicure. The massage felt great, very soothing and relaxing. As I sat to get my pedicure next, the massage therapist entered and loudly proclaimed to the desk staff that she was upset I had not left a tip (one was waiting for her in my pocket, since she disappeared after my massage). The preparations for my manicure and pedicure were fine and also soothing, but the paint job was rushed and messy. Both chipped immediately after leaving the place. In general it was fine, I was just put off by the rudeness of the massage therapist and the fact that I could have painted my nails just as well on my own.

I went as a first-time customer for mani, pedi, brow wax, haircut and blow-dry. The mani/pedi was not as good as ones I've gotten at much cheaper nail salons. The haircut and blowdry and eyebrow wax were fine, but nothing special. I've gotten better (or just as good) $40 haircuts at other places.
The ambience is okay, but nothing special; it doesn't feel like a high-end salon, the quality isn't as good, but the prices are almost as bad.

I went into La Dolce Vita over the weekend to use the Groupon I purchased last month. I had been there before, and the prices with the Groupon couldn't be beat, so I figured I'd have a good experience. Unfortunately, that was my last visit to La Dolce Vita. The services performed were fine, and the woman who did my manicure, pedicure, and eyebrow wax was great. She couldn't have been nicer and she did a wonderful job.

My problem was with the rest of the staff present in the salon. I appeared to be the last customer of the day, and they were cleaning up during my appointment. I listed to a conversation that included complaints about tips, comments about how ugly another customer that day was, and mocking of somebody because she works as a waitress. It was totally unprofessional, completely classless, and enough to ensure that I won't step foot in the salon again.

I'm sure La Dolce Vita participated in the Groupon promotion to attract and retain new clients. In order for that to work, they should probably teach their employees to have some tact.

had my first Brazilian here with Jorlady and it was amazing. I felt so comfortable in what would normally be a very uncomfortable circumstance. I have very sensitive skin and had absolutely no reaction at all! On top of being a great waxing it was one of the cheapest in Boston ($55). I continue to return here. I highly recommend this salon to my friends as well.

After reading reviews and noting the price of brazilian waxes at La Dolce Vita, I decided to give it a try. I was able to schedule an appointment very easily (one day in advance), which was very convenient for me.

Bernadette did my wax in under 10 minutes - she was fast, efficient, friendly and professional. It was by far the quickest, least painful brazilian wax I have ever had! I haven't had any other services at La Dolce Vita, but I definitely recommend going for waxing.

i recently tried out la dolce vita and wasnt impressed at all. the services werent worth the money they charged. I am definitely going to stay on newbury st for spa services. i have no problem spending the money but only if i am getting good service and not being treated like i am at there mercy for an appt, asking questions, getting a professional tx by people with more experience and not by school girls who give attitude.... trust me on this one.

My boyfriend got the couples hot stone massage for Christmas, so we went in on a Saturday afternoon to get them. The hot stone aspect was phenomenal - the stones were used for the massage all over the body, and the massage therapist was great about making sure the stones were the right temp. Our therapists were Vera and Pobeda, and we highly recommend both of them! We're going to go back for another, with the two of them again!! The therapists were very personable, chatting with us and answering general massage questions we had - they definitely made the experience even more enjoyable. We were sent home with about 10 stones of our own to use and will absolutely go back!!

I went to the salon to get a Brazilian and chose it because it was rated very highly and the prices were reasonable. It was my first time getting a Brazilian and I was quite nervous. When Bernadette did my wax she was very cordial and talked to me the whole time during the waxing which got my mind off the pain. It was quick and not as painful as I thought it would be. The pricing was very reasonable especially with the student coupon. I'm going back to get my eyebrows done because the people here were customer service friendly and make an effort to make the customers feel very welcomed.

I went here to use a gift certificate I had received from a friend. They had purchased a "little escape package," which should include a spa manicure, spa pedicure and 30 minute massage. When arriving, I was told they wouldn't honor the 30 minute massage and I needed to pay for it out of pocket. Also, they were short staffed. I was supposed to have a duel mani/pedi with my best friend, but we needed to go one after the other as there was only one 'manicurist' on staff. I say manicurist lightly because the person doing our nails- hands and feet- outright told us that she only does hair, but was filling in for the manicurist who had called out that day. After waiting for my friends pedicure to be over it was time to my spa pedicure. I had cold- FREEZING cold water in my footbath. The salon blamed it on the Winston's Flowers downstairs for using the warm water on their flowers. No excuse. Forget the manicure. The same person who did my pedi did not like to give manicures- I was told several time BY HER that she hated it- clearly. The shape of my nails was so awful I needed to file them on my own. The polish did not even last a full 24 hours. I went to CVS the next day and did it myself. Since there was only one person to do two manicures and two pedicures, we were there for HOURS! I needed to go get lunch for us while waiting for my 'turn.' This was my first spa experience and it was terrible. The only good thing out of that visit was my full bikini wax- when you can say a Brazillian bikini was was a more pleasant experience than a massage/mani/pedi combo, you KNOW it was bad. DO NOT GO HERE!

I am working in the Boston area for the summer and chose this salon based on the user reviews I had read. I only needed a trim, but the service here was great. I would become a regular if I was staying in the area! The salon is clean, nicely decorated and has a great view of the city.

.

The salon was decorated nicely, however, the chairs you sit in for the pedicures, the massaging cushion was broken and the remote, table & lamp were dusty.
My manicurist was NOT with it - she must have been having a bad day - she came late, she did a poor job with the spa pedicure (she forgot to scrub one of my feet and she did a half-a job with the leg massage) and I just didn't get the attention I thought I would get at a salon like this.
It got a little better with the manicure but I think she was just rushing me because when she was done, she left the building to run an errand.
I went with a friend of mine and her pedicure got started before me but she was done after me (her manicurist was VERY thorough - I wish I had had her!)
Overall, the experience was not very relaxing (the manicurist talked non-stop, mostly about her bad back and how much she was in pain) and it was DEFINITELY NOT worth the $$ it costs. The service I received you can get at ANY local salon - you would expect more at this place, especially with the prices they charge.

I live in California and was looking for a spa to send my daughter and son's girlfriend to for facials and massages. I did an internet search for Boston Spas and La Dolce Vita came up. I checked it out as well as others on Newbury Street but in the end I went with my gut and booked them here. I can't explain it but there was something about the site that I liked (I went back to it about 10 times!) and I thought the prices were good.

I was met with a friendly and very courteous girl on the phone who had no problem making appointments for a Friday afternoon. When the girls arrived at the spa they said it was really cute, that everyone there was nice, it wasn't crowded so they never felt rushed and they absolutely LOVED their facials and massages!
I would definitely make another appointment here and I know the girls would happily return!

Kathy is the BEST hair stylist I've found in Boston!!! And I'm one hard girl to please. :-) She truly understands hair and really cares that you're getting a cut that works for you. No matter what I do to my hair, it looks great and I get compliments on it all the time. I would follow Kathy to whatever salon she was working at. La Dolce Vita is a great place for her. It's a relaxing atmosphere with a great view of Copley Square.
Two thumbs up for Kathy at La Dolce Vita!

I urge everybody to get a massage from Melissa. She is an amazing woman and definitely has a golden touch. I have had many massages before but this is by far the best I've had. The way she does her massage and the pressure is just perfect. Other people just coudnt get it right before. It would either be too hard that it would be painful or too soft that it would be tickleish. Melissa has got it perfectly that my body felt like it was melting away with relaxation. I left that place feeling like a million bucks. Their prices are reasonable too. I just wished they offered student discounts. I definitely highly recommend this place especially Melissa.

I never write these reviews, but based on the fact that my fiance and I had the worst massages ever and I have had numerous massages in spas and professional massage therapists, I figured this warrants a write up. On top of all of that, my fiance spent $200 for us to spend some romantic quality time together, which was exactly the opposite of what happened.
After my fiance and I arrived 10 minute early and our appointment came and went. We were somewhat reassured that our massage therapists would be ready soon. It turns out they had booked one of them for a hot stone, which take 90 min, making her run 30 minutes late. Then we had to wait until they had set up the massage area and had to listen to one of them discussing how she would be late to the theater now. Very unprofessional!
On to the massages - We were asked whether any area was bothering us and we answered "neck, shoulders, and lower back." My fiance got more of a back massage than I did. My neck was barely touched and neither of us were massaged on the lower back. I love deep tissue massages. I get at a minimum 2 a year, since I carry my stress in my shoulders and neck. Now this massage was ROUGH not deep. It felt like our bones were being massaged rather than our muscles. In addition, my fiance's left hand was massaged TWICE but never his right hand. Needless to say my hands were not massaged. There was no kneading, just RUBBING?! Our legs were massaged for half the time in the SAME places over and over again, but not our upper thighs?!
After 45 Minutes NOT 60 Minutes we were told that we were all set and our masseuses literally JETTED. We never saw them when we were done and were not even provided the cup of water that is customary. Beware of Vera and Pollianetta!
Needless to say, something that was supposed to be a treat and romantic, turned out to be frustrating, dissapointing and PAINFUL!

I had a great experience at La Dolce Vita, I went in for a full day of beauty with a friend, we got the Refresh package and had a great time, we left feeling like new women. The atmosphere was charming and the staff was very friendly, I will most definitly return.

seeing the website i thought la dolce vita looked nice and i wanted to give them a try. After seeing the salon in person, i was so diappointed. The waiting area was a mess, there was no water in the water cooler, the trash barrel was over flowing, the rug was filthy, the front desk a complete disaster. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom, the sink had so much mildew i didnt even want to wash my hands. The service itself was up to par and I was satisfied but the condition of the place was so bad that I will not go back there. When I was checking out, they didnt even have cash in the register to break change or give me cash back. I asked to speak to a manager and there was not even one on duty. This is no way to run a spa in copley square and I dont know how they stay in business.........

I wanted to get my boyfriend something special for our one year anniversary. We both had been meaning to get a couples massage for a while so I decided that this would be a great surprise for me to get us hot stone massages. I called La Dolce Vita salon after reading great reviews on CitySearch and was a little disappointed to find out that they only had appointments for the next three weeks on Sunday afternoons. But I decided that it was alright and I had called only a week in advance so I took the Sunday appointment. My boyfriend and I arrived and were pleasantly surprised to find a very nice and chic salon. We were escorted upstairs to the massage room which was very nicely decorated. Outside there was some sort of concert in Copley and since the room overlooks the street (there are heavy curtains over the window to block light) there was a lot of noise that was coming in. Word of advice, make sure that there isn't a concert taking place the day you get your massage... So about the quality of the massage, it really wasnt work the $250 that I spent. I've had better from beauty schools. They were hasty and quick (what you dont want in an hour massage) and one of the women (they switched halfway) had very shaky hands which made it really distracting to try and relax. It didn't seem like these ladies wanted to be here at all and I realize it was a Sunday but I did pay $250 and I really wanted this to be special. Anyways, needless to say I wouldn't personally go back but maybe a different day of the week would be better??

Deanna is by far the best esthetician/Brazilian wax I have ever been too/had. I've converted all my girlfriends, roommates and even co-workers. I've been to a few other people in the past and none pale in comparison to Deanna's skills (even the other estheticians at the same salon); she's quick, thorough and amazingly not that painful. Don?t make the mistake of going to someone else like I did, thinking they will be the same. I?m telling you now; Deanna is like heaven in comparison. I don?t dread going to get waxed anymore, what more could you ask for?!

I recently went to La Dolce Vita to get my hair highlighted and cut. A few of my friends go there and I love the way their hair looks. They have been loyal clients for about a year and have nothing but great things to say about their hairdresser. When I made the appointment I didn't specify who I wanted to see. Big Mistake. Let me back track alittle. I've been getting my hair highlighted for years and all I ever ask for is a natural looking golden blonde. I have pretty much always been happy with the end result, liking some hairdressers better than others, but never being disappointed. Well let me tell you I was extremely upset with the way Tricia did my hair. When she was done it looked streaky and looked like I still had roots. Not to mention the color that she put in didn't really match the rest of my hair. I do not know how you can mess up someone's hair that badly and not realize that it looks horrible. On top of that the cut was kinda lopsided, one side longer than the other and the layers all hacked with random short and long pieces. I was so shocked that I just left without saying anything about it. Now I have to wait and let it grow out alittle before I can go back and see my friends' hairdresser, whose name is jen by the way, to fix it. I should have gone to her in the first place and saved myself from all this aggrivation

Got a Great massage from Vera. The hair/nail area is ok, not super clean, but the upstairs where the massage and esthetics are is beautiful. Pretty mural and classy rooms. I dont think that i would get my hair/nails done here from the impression i got thou.

I just moved to Boston and am on a search to find my new waxing salon. Unfortunately, my search is not over. I tried La Dolce Vita recently and while the people were very nice, the salon looked pretty clean, I was overall not impressed. I think the salon is trying to be more upscale than it actually is, and my brazilian was not great. Elana was my aesthetician, she was very nice and talkative, the waxing was not overly painful, but it wasn't meticiulous either. I've had a fantastic aesthetician that I'm trying to replace and I still haven't found my replacement. I won't be going to La Dolce Vita for my next wax.

I was so pleasantly surprised by La dolce vita. I called for the first time the day of on a saturday to see if I could get a last minute appointment. They're open late, even on weekends, and they fit me right in, even though I didn't make it easy for them (I was stuck at work until late). Now let me preface what I'm going to say here--my hair is impossible to cut. It's super straight, and super fine so if it's not done perfectly, you can see every little mistake. Plus, I can't get it cut in a way that I'm going to have to style AT ALL because A) Idon't have the time, and B) even if I do style it, my hair is so fine that it will go flat 20 minutes after being styled. Regardless of this, every stylist I go to tries to give me some trendy cut that I'm going to have to mess with, and I inevitably end up unhappy. But Jen, my stylist at la dolce vita, took one look at my hair and understood what I needed. She gave me an amazing cut that looks great WITHOUT ANY STYLING AT ALL, and to prove it, she didn't try to give me that crispy, "I just left the salon" hair. She just dried and it looked perfect, with no effort at all. I left so happy, with a cut that was right for me, which is no small feat. I'm definitely going back.

My aesthetician on newbury st left and they would not give me her contact info so i was forced to look for another salon. I had a friend recommend La Dolce Vita to me a long time ago so I gave them a call. I met their Aesthetician Bernadette and let me tell you, she is awsome! She's excellent at waxing, very friendly, and very professional. The whole procedure was quick, painless and the results were awesome! I would recommend her to everyone just as my friend did to me. Bernadette gets 5 stars and she will be seeing me regularly from now on.

My mother and I went for a couples massage in April and had a wonderful experience. Our Swedish massages were just what we were looking for. The staff was friendly and made us feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area.

Just make sure you don't schedule a relaxing massage on the day of a big event in Boston! We were there two days before marathon and it was SO noisy with the kids races going on outside. The girls were great and tried to drown out the noise with music, but it just didn't work.

We would definitely go back -this time we would just make sure nothing was happening on Boylston St that day!

I took my husband to La Dolce Vita to get a massage last sunday for our anniversary. I could not get him to go alone so I had to book myself one too. The massage was GREAT and the masseuses were so nice. We both had never gotten a massage before and now we know why some of our friends have to get them regularly. We were practically drooling throughout the whole massage because it was so soothing and relaxing. I highly recommend getting a couples massage here and for those who are planning to get it, the 30 minutes is not enough. I suggest the one hour session because we were wanting more after our 30 minutes. Those masseues deserve a high rating!

My friend and I decided to treat ourselves to some pampering for our birthdays so we booked a bunch of services at La Dolce Vita for the weekend. We both got the massage, facial, pedicure and manicure package and it was excellent. The massage part of the package terrific and we both wished that we could have had a longer one. We left that place feeling like Jello because we so relaxed and relieved of all our stress (at least for that day). I am probably gonna have massages regularly now because it definitely helps to unwind from a busy work week. This place is highly recommended.

I gave my wife a full 'Spa Day' at La Dolce Vita for our anniversary. She came back and was hesitant to discuss her experience with me, given that it was meant to be a special gift for her. But she eventually told me about it (I think only to ensure that I do not try to send her back there in the future). She said she was amazed at the HORRIBLE service. From the receptionist all the way through the service personnel, the environment was nothing short of rude and unprofessional. I don't know about you, but when your spending big $$$ to pamper your loved one....you kind of expect them to be pampered. Not only was my wife NOT pampered, but the environment was cold (meaning personalities) and at times down right uncomfortable (she described the conversations going on with/between the service personnel as being innappropriate and unprofessional). My wife is a sweatheart, everyone loves her....so I know it must have been bad if she gave this type of feedback to a gift giver (me). If you are looking to do something special for your special person, DO NOT SEND THEM HERE!

It's funny, I looked here at some of the other reviews before sending her to this spa and noticed that the majority of the reviews were positive, but that there were some that talked about poor service. I guess I assumed that I was going with the masses and that the others were issolated incidents.....now I know the truth.

I've only been to this spa once but I will be certain to come back! This spa is close to my apartment so I went in for a routine Brazillian Wax with Ilana. As most ladies know, brazillians aren't the most pleasant experience, but from the moment I walked in the spa I felt relaxed. The waxing room was beautifully decorated and it even smelled great. Illana was so professional, quick and efficient. I will definitely be going back for more spa services after reading the great reviews of their massages, facials, etc. AND the prices are GREAT!

I came for a spa package that was given to me for my birthday. It included a massage, facial, pedicure and manicure. I have never gotten anything like this done to me before. It was a wonderful experience. I especially loved the massage and facial part of it. Their therapist Vera was very good. The manicure and pedicure part of the package was okay but I am not really into my nails anyway. Overall, I would recommend this place to everyone especially for massage.
