WORST GYM EVER. Worst staff, always crowded, they automatically renew your account without your knowledge, and you have to pay so many fees on top of the monthly fee.

Do not waste your time with this gym unless you don't mind paying ridiculous fees to cancel your membership. We've been trying to cancel for months and after visits, phone calls, letters and certified letters, somehow we're still getting charged the monthly fee even though they've acknowledged receiving our letter canceling our membership. Take my advice and read the fine print before you sign anything. And if you want to cancel, document everything, send any requests certified (or you'll get the old "we never received it" response), get names of the people you speak with and follow up on everything immediately and maybe, just maybe, you'll get out within a few months. Better yet, save yourself the trouble and just skip this gym altogether.

I am a member of Gold's Gym, and I really like it. It is large, has nice equipment, a separate room just for ladies who are a bit self-conscious, a theater room, many classes, and nice childcare. It is a bit on the expensive side, but there is nothing else comparable in the area. It's worth it.

I was a "founding member" at the Gold's when it opened up. I really didn't like the idea of an up-front contract. If I suddenly can't afford to go anymore, I don't want to pay $100s to get out of a contract and pay off the year. There's a lot of great equipment there but it's always crowded. High school athletes after school, soccer moms all day, big rush in the evening. hard to get a machine when you want, always seem to have to wait and interrupt your routine. i guess that happens when they reach out to so many people and become too popular, if you don't come in as a group and hog the equipment, the individual is left waiting. I agree about the account freezing/canceling. the outsourced company is very difficult to deal with. I currently use the gym for free at my school but it's got limited resources. and when it closes for the winter i want to move to a better gym. found one in the same area with great amenities, and MONTH-TO-MONTH dues. NO CONTRACTS! no pressure! and...it's 24hrs. even better if i can't get there at the same time every day or night when it would be less crowded

I don't understadn why the staff does not wipe down the machines and work out ares. The floor mats are gross. How come they aren't cleaned. Also until only recently the showers were slimey and the sauna never works or is not programmed properly.... Why are we paying full prices for nominal serivce.I also agree that the managers don't even know how the equipment and sauna equipment should work,,,, this is a great layout and the equipment is good---- why not staff up with professional services and pay attention to the details to make a postive overall gym experience that I want to recommend to my friends???

Well, when I first joined Gold's I thought it was great. Cardio Cinema, nice locker rooms, many classes, but there are some things they should consider changing. First of all, the rags they have to clean the machines are disgusting. At the end of the day they are soaked. I know I am supposed to clean up after myself, but I do not want to touch those rags! I know of someone who got staff infection Gold's and I am not surprised. They really should have paper towels available for cleaning and purell located around the gym. I also never see any employees cleaning the machines which should be done several times during the day. Also, I hate the fact that they use an outside company to deal with finances. If you need to freeze or cancel your membership, it is a huge pain to do. You first of all have to wait on the phone to talk to someone for at least 15 minutes and jump through a million hoops to get anything accomplished. You end of getting billed at times when you weren't expecting because of all of their sneaky loopholes. Also, the staff at the front desk are not knowledgable about anything. In order to ask a question about fitness or an aerobics class, you need to find someone in charge. I think that this gym could be great because of its great amenities if it paid more attention to detail. I guess this happens often in gyms that are too large and lack personal touch.
