I have been to Sette about 5 times. The first time I thought it was just overpriced average food, as it often happens in the Slope. I went a few more times when it was convenient and always had the same impression.
The last time my husband suggested we go there he got the scallop special for $25. He said the scallops tasted strange, I tried a quarter of a scallop and it had that particular smell and taste of seafood gone bad. We sent it back and decided not to get another entree in its place - kind of lost our appetite. My husband had eaten about 2 or 3 and was slightly nauseous. The waitress brought the bill and, much to my surprise it actually included the $25 charge for the special. I spoke with the manager and they graciously agreed to deduct the money for the dish.
I don't really remember an apology, an offer for a freebie which usually happens when restaurants mess up but want to make up for it - nothing like that. I have never had a similar experience in any other place.

I found my expiernce at sette to be totaly different from the reviews i have just read on this page.. 1st off i have 4 kids and it is not easy going to any resturant with them . i was walking in park slope and i read a sign kids free mon& tues 4-7 . i thought maybe lets try somthing new . not only was the wait staff amazing . the maniger was soo plesant and told me if there was anything i needed to just let her know. i realized that i got there a little after 7 olcock after ordering all my food i though oh no this bill is going to be to much i asked to speak to the owner( who i thought was amazing and very nice) and he told me that even though it was only 5 mins after 7 oclock that it was okay ....i guess if you just learn how to talk to people you might just find that they will help you ....sette is a great family place or just a good fun night out ...

Ok so we are park slope parents that sometimes don't liketo cook , so between my three friends we have four children ,and are always having play dates so our four children turns into sometimes 6 .......
We love to eat out , and in Park Slope you would think it would be easy to find Kid Friendly dining.

So going against the grain we decieded to give Sette a chance since we saw posted "kids eat for free MON and Tues."

I was with My sister and two adult friends (4 adults) and our typical 6 kids ( never a problem anywhere else). They seat us about 7pm as we proceed to order, never once did the waitress give us alarm that kids eat free ends at 7pm
Low and behold the check comes and all the kids dinners are on the check... granted we failed to asked , about kids eating for free, but with all the hupla and advertisments you would think your coming into a resturant with a grip of children you might want to mention that clause.
However the hostess came over , they didn't call the manager like we asked, and they proceeded to tell us that the 4-7 is clearly on the menu. When we looked , it was like a musicains contract , the 4-7 limit was hiding in a section no where near the mention of kids eat for free advertisments.(it was near the pre fix menu )

End result they made us feel like it was all our fault, and too bad for not being able to decode their menu.

I am writing this because I don't like to be tricked into eating in a place that poses to be kid friendly .
So 6 pizza's and 4 entree's turned out to be 200.00 which if fine if we knew before hand . And if it was pizza the kids were eating Two boots or Pino's would have been 150.00 less. or Scottadito who truly has a kid eat for free menu with no hidden agenda's

Our lesson is read the fine print ... If you want to be a neighborhood resturant you cannot trick your neighbors into eating at your place.

Pros: it had enough room to seat 10 of us

Cons: the issue with the kids

.

My friend and I (Both single mothers living in Park Slope) have been to many "kids eat free nights" before, but SETTE was THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! They have a sign outside that boasts it kids eat free Monday & Tuesday menu. What they fail to tell you is that it is only offered from 4-7pm. After being seated at 7:05pm we ordered from the kids menus (5 mini pizzas) and adult menus (tasting menu). When the bill came we were charged an appalling $55 dollars extra for the kids pizzas. When we asked about the charge they told us the time frame was clearly printed on the menu. Feeling embarrassed we paid the check and left. On the way out we read the menu posted at the door.
It clearly states: Tasting Menu 4-7PM Kids Eat Free Monday & Tuesday (no time frame) WHAT A RIPOFF!!!!!! I would have much rather gone to Two Boots or Scottaditto, where they have some resoect for hard working parents.

Pros: HMMMM, can't think of any

Cons: Misleading special deals to draw you in and steal your money
