Two terrible experiences here, that's enough for me. First time the waiter forgot about us for ten minutes as he went to smoke a doob in the back I suspect. Quesadilla came out with shredded cheese sprinkled on the top unmelted - looked like they didn't even try to heat it! We ordered patron silver - yes, I know crazy idea, ordering tequila in a mexican place - and they said they were out. He went to check, brought the dregs of the bottle and poured a half a shot...and then charged us full price for the drink! Huh? A few months later I was ready to give them a second chance with a smaller group of friends, maybe it had just been an off-day...but the food was just as miserable as I remembered and the service just as absent. Tons of other great places around, no need to go here. Annoys me every time I see people contributing their money to this place.

Pros: nothing. I guess cheese is always good.

Cons: everything. service, food, price.

Everyone knows that finding good Tex-Mex in New York is about as difficult as trying to find where Jimmy Hoffa is buried. I have to admit, my expectations we're pretty high going into Lobo since I had heard a rumor that the owners were from Austin. Having had the Tex-Mex down there, I was anxious to try theirs. I wasn't blown away. The queso dip was just okay, their salsa was alright. I had the "pulled" chicken quesadilla and there was a giant bone in it. I know, it happens, but it really set the tone for the entire meal. I was happy that they had Lone Star beer from Texas, but even that Texas beer staple is starting to pop up more frequently around the 'burg. I hear the margeritas are good, in other words, they use real juice instead of sour mix, but I never got to try them since I was there an hour before closing and felt rushed. The decor was a little less inspired than I had imagined. I was hoping for the full Austin inspired Tex-Mex experience but felt like what I got was a watered down version. I wish them the best of luck and hope they make some improvements, but I probably won't be rushing back there any time soon. The search for good Tex-Mex in New York continues...*sigh*

Pros: One of the few Tex-Mex spots in Brooklyn

Cons: Food wasn't awe inspring.

Last Saturday me and a group of friends went to Lobo for my birthday. I was hoping for a laidback night of dinner and drinks with some friends and Lobo was just the right place for that.

I grew up in Austin so I was skeptical about the food but it proved to be authentic Tex-Mex goodness. I recommend The Wolf if your in the mood for a good sloppy meal. The waiter was extremely accommodating throughout the night and also recommended a drink that is now one of my favorites; spicy chili margarita.

We ended up staying a lot longer then expected because there was no reason to go anywhere else. Overall I had a great birthday and look forward to my next visit to Lobo.

Pros: Drinks, food & service

Cons: What are the drawbacks?

Having lived in Texas for several years, getting the Lone Star State's version of Mexican right is harder than you'd think. Lobo does a fairly good job of bringing Austin to the Slope. No, the food isn't amazing--but it's pretty good. And pretty good in NYC is fine with me. Also, they have really great brunches--those I highly recommend.

This is a comfortable tex-mex restaurant with a decent-sized bar and a fun atmosphere. The complimentary chips and salsa are excellent and I've never been let down by the food. Lots of combination platters and the prices are totally reasonable. The margueritas ain't too bad either. I especially enjoyed the cheese enchiladas.

The food was awful. It's like they aren't even trying. I ordered the chicken tacos, and it was just chicken and taco, no cheese, barely any lettuce or tomato. The bean dip was cheese and water, with maybe one or two beans. The atmosphere was nice, but the food is a rip-off. Not very fresh and not very good.

The staff turn the music up to obnoxious volumes with a tinny earsplitting volume that is not enjoyable on any level and not conducive to having a conversation with someone two feet away. The raucous and off key singing of songs nobody needs to hear outside of there bathroom is only outdone by the immature and infantile staff members who sing them. Do us all a favor and take your carnival act home. The waitstaff seems to be in perfect collusion with these buffoons as they will not deliver any service in a timely manner, effectively forcing everyone to stay and witness the tragedy. Tortilla chips are served that were clearly cooked last week and left outside, drinks are brought to the table only after a minimum wait period of 20 minutes, the food is cooked to the blandest and most nauseating taste, and the check will arrive when they are good and ready. We should all remember, it is their establishment, we all merely trespass and pay a toll. Do yourselves a favor and skip this disaster site when attempting to have any of the following: good food, fun, romance, conversation, and simply a good time. This place is horrible!

They will give you good chips and salsa to start with, then good food.
Waiters are always nice, too. I like the outdoor space for nice days.

We recently moved into the neighborhood and were pleased to see a "tex-mex" place in the area. We went for brunch on a Saturday. The service was AWESOME. Our server, who had to deal with the cranky pants people next to us, managed to get us mashed potatoes from the kitchen a few hours before they normally serve them. New York, in general, has a difficult time understanding the need for chips, salsa and good queso and Lobo does it right!

WE ALWAYS ENJOY OUR TIME AT LOBO. THE FOOD AND DRINKS ARE GREAT!!!!!!! THE STAFF ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND ACCOMMODATING. THE OWNER AND MANAGER (THE SEANS) ALWAYS COME OVER TO SAY HELLO, AND ARE ALWAYS WILLING TO FULFILL ANY SPECIAL REQUEST. I RECENTLY HAD A SMALL PARTY THERE AND THE STAFF REALLY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO MAKE US FEEL AT HOME, AND TO MAKE SURE WE HAD A GREAT TIME , WHICH WE SURE DID ( GREAT MAGARITAS)

LOBO simply put just makes you feel good. Simple food (that a lot of places cannot get right) that tastes great and does not cost a lot .My husband and I suggest any of the fajitas, the chicken quesadillas are to die for! The salsa and cheese queso are amazing, The best time to go is during the week and just hangout at the bar and eat and drink ,The staff are really friendly and fun, and the freash juice Margaritas are worth every penny of the $7. I never really liked Tequila before (mainly because I always drank bad Tequila) but after sampling some top shelf Tequila I love it now!!! Its worth the train ride from the city after work.
