Kinkaku is a hidden gem in Pigeon Forge. In fact, the night we went, there were only 4 other tables taken. We decided to trust Tripadvisor and stay, and boy were we happy we stayed.

For starters, this is a restaurant that stays true to its culture. It seems to be family owned, and they make a great team. Our server was very pleasant, efficient, and sweet. Don't come here if you're boring, or have a bad sense of humor. I saw another table with a family who left their happiness at the door when they came in. They weren't laughing, or getting into the experience, and I felt very bad for the chef who was doing an excellent job. Our chef was excellent at entertaining, and often made cute jokes, so be prepapred to cut loose and smile a little! He even made a neat firey volcano with stacked onions!

The food here was SO reasonable. Our sushi was very fresh and the portion generous. I think the chicken HIbachi starts at around $11.95. This is for a salad, soup, chicken, rice, and veggies. I had the shrimp, and every bite was fresh, tasty, and perfectly seasoned. The sushi was also fresh, sweet, and reasonable.

I would highly make it a point to come here while you're in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area. In a land full of boring BBQ and Pancakes, this restaurant stands out as a unique gem. You can have fun as a family, or fun as a couple. Don't forget to print out a 15% off coupon from their website to save some $!

I loved this place, it's fun, their prices are very reasonable, and the quality of sushi and cooked items were very exceptional. I have eaten here time and time again and have never been dissapointed. You can get everything from filet mignon, to sea scallops to sushi.

This was by far the worst sushi we have ever had. We were on vacation from IA and were hoping to get our sushi fix while in TN, big mistake. It was like a white mountain man tried way too hard to make an Asian restaurant. The waiter was ok, nothing to write home about though. We started off with some green tea. Not your typical Japanese tea though, a tea bag of Starbuck's Tazo Tea. Next we had miso soup. Again, not restaurant quality. It was made from the packets of miso soup you can get at the grocery store. We know this because we buy this miso to substitute when we can't make it out. Then the sushi came. The rice was really hard, the seaweed was stringy and the fish was disgusting. We took one bite out of each of the rolls we ordered and were sick to our stomachs. We asked for our check and the waiter wanted to know if we needed a box. No thank you. He asked if there was something wrong with the sushi and we told him. They gave us 15% off a meal we didn't even eat.
