.

I signed up for Gold??s this past August. I have been so pleased with the gym since then! They staff is friendly and helpful. The gym environment is clean and they keep it nice and cool for working out.

I am also a member of their ??tanning package? ??which is a GREAT DEAL! I originally was paying $30 a month for unlimited tanning at Atlantic Tanning ??now I pay only $9.99 in addition to my monthly gym membership and receive unlimited tanning. The tanning beds are very nice (and they have stand up beds as well).

ALSO, they include 2 free personal training sessions when you sign up. The first session is mainly a consultation to see what you want out of the gym and answer any questions you might have. The second session I found to be extremely helpful ??it familiarized me with the much of the equipment and machines they have in the gym (which I had always skipped over before ??because I didn??t know how the equipment worked).

I found their class schedule to be MUCH larger than any former gym I attended.

I would highly recommend Gold??s Gym. They do require a 2 year contact ??but that is completely normal for a nice, large-sized gym. They make that very clear when you sign up (and I did not feel pressured at all by my salesperson to sign).

I was formally a member of American Family Fitness (from 2005-07) which also has the same 2 year ??pretty much permanent contract. The only gym that doesn??t is the YMCA ??I was also a member of that - when I found out I could join Gold??s for the same price and receive a much nicer environment.

I joined this gym because it had a decent schedule of morning yoga classes and was much less expensive than going to a yoga studio. I got what I consider to be a rather hard-sell at the beginning and ended up signing a two-year contract. Stupid move. Unfortunately, the great yoga teacher moved away a few months later and the class schedule was slashed - there is less than half the time in morning yoga than there had been previously. Also, the main teacher now gives lame classes - they are more of a gentle-stretching class than a real yoga class. Not what you would expect in a gym. Despite this, the management was absolutely inflexible about the contact - they did not see reduction in services as an adequate reason to end a two-year commitment. So I'm stuck for another 18 months paying for a gym that doesn't provide what I signed up for, and in addition I have to pay a yoga studio on top of that. Be careful before you sign up!!

Cons: Don't join if you're interested in yoga.
