About a month ago, a friend of mine & I decided to catch a movie & do a little after holiday sale shopping at White Flint Mall. Knowing that early shows cost far less than those in the evening, we opted for the first show of the day--around 11:00 am. When we arrived to purchase tickets, there was a short line of 10 - 12 people. As we waited, we heard the ticket seller request $6.00 from the first person in line. She responded stating that she had called the 'phone # listed in the Washington Post for this theatre & that the recording stated that all shows before noon were only $5.00. A person in line behind her called out that she had also called the 'phone # & gotten the same information. The ticket seller didn't seem to know what to do so the two patrons requested a manager who arrived a few minutes later. The story about the recording was retold. The manager told the patrons that they were wrong about the price. The manager was holding a cell 'phone in her hand & one of the patrons requested that the manager call the # & hear the information herself. The manager refused & told the patron to pay the $6.00 or to leave. One of the patrons requested the manager's name & a way to contact AMC-Loew's corporate office. The manager refused to provide that information & then stated that she was calling mall security. Then the manager left. As my friend & I continued to wait in line, another woman appeared who told the two patrons that she was the general manager. The whole story was told again & the general manager told the two patrons that not only was $6.00 what they would have to pay but that they would have to apologize to the manager for "challenging" her if they wanted to see a movie at that theatre. The two patrons left.

My friend & I also decided to leave as we felt that the entire situation was appalling! First of all, it is extremely misleading (if not fraudalent) to advertise one price & then charge another. Secondly, we could not believe how this situation was handled! The first "manager" all but called these patrons liars & then called security when they were in no way loud, unruly or threatening! And the second "manager" wanted these patrons to apologize to the first "manager" when, if anything, these patrons deserved an apology!!! My friend & I left because the whole situation was unpleasant & uncomfortable & frankly, we decided that we didn't want to give our business to a company that treats its customers in this manner.

I know that I will never again patronize this AMC-Loew's theatre. I think that's the best way to send a bad business a message.
