I was amazed by what my fiance and I received when we went last night. We chose this place because of the Queens "Restaurant Week" promotion, thinking we would experience something new.
Wow.
Admittedly, the employees were nice, except for our waiter, who seemed tired/uninterested/sour. Most of the patrons seemed to be about age 60-70, which is fine--not exactly a hip place, but that doesn't mean you can't have a great meal. Our selections were: 1. mussels w/ white sauce/mozzarella & tomatoes, 2. salmon w/ basil sauce/chicken special-sauteed w/ cheese 3. black forest cake/carrot cake.
The mussels were pretty good and so was my mozzarella, but halfway through the appetizers, the following events occurred: 1) the table next to us asked for oil & vinegar, 2) the busboy nodded and turned to our table, 3) instead of walking the 20 feet to the waiters' stand to get an extra oil/vinegar set, the busboy TOOK ours without asking if we were even finished--just Whoops! and our condiments were gone.
Now admittedly, this is not a huge faux pas if it's supposed to be a casual dining establishment/family atmosphere (or if the food had been great, we would certainly have overlooked it), but this is a white tablecloth restaurant!
The entrees were distinctly reminiscent of the Tuesday Lunch Surprise from elementary school: drowned in sauce, oily, droopy asparagus, some kind of white cheese on my chicken, some kind of tomato thing on my fiance's salmon....
For dessert/coffee, they did make a nice cappuccino, but the pieces of cake looked like a slice of those cakes you'd buy from the grocery store. I enjoyed my carrot cake, but if I'm spending $7-$8 on a dessert, I want it to be really good, not something I can get for $5 (for the whole cake!) at Trade Fair.

Our total was almost $90 for 2 people (3 courses w/ 3 drinks total)--and that was the special "Restaurant Week" promotion. Pretty expensive for something I can get from the cafeteria at work.

I recently celebrated my birthday in the private wine cellar dining room. The food, service, and atmosphere could not have been better. The restaurant impressed all of my guests. Our dinners were expertly prepared and very delicious. The owners and staff were very hospitable. It turned out to be a memorable evening. It is the perfect place to celebrate any event or just an evening out for dinner. You will not be disappointed.
Parking is available right next to the restaurant. It is also very convenient by subway.

I LOVE this place. The stuffed shrimp is heavenly. My boyfriend has tried almost all the veal dishes and loves each one. The waiters/hostess are all nice and respond to you quickly. The tirimsu is the best in NY, if you ask me b/c of the creaminess and taste. It's just fantastic. They also don't skimp on the alcohol in their drinks either. It's in a pretty sketchy neighborhood, but I would travel a long way to go here. TRY IT. It's classy and also a great hometown restaurant where you'll quickly become a regular...
