After looking at reviews at Google, Yelp, Insider and other places... you will get a Jekyll and Hyde review. We stayed in a 2 Queen-bed room, in the Havana Tower at the 67th floor. It was an over-night stay (Thurs-Friday) during spring break.

Pros:

-Hotel was very elegant. We were a family of 5, with a 2, 4, 10 year old and we were totally impressed with the place. My 4 yo loved the decor, stating we outside while we were inside (the ceiling was painted with clouds)

-Clean. The room was very clean. Now I did notice a cigarette burn here and there but it was hardly noticeable. My wife loved the soap they had in the hotel... had a citrus smell to it.

-Location. I was able park 2 spots away from the main garage elevator, which leads to the Havana Tower elevator only 10 feet away, where our room was just 2 doors down from elevators. Basically, It only took me about 40 steps from my car to my room. (never happened before)

-Food and activities. The casino, restaurants and shops are all in the Quarter. You basically never have to leave the Tropicana for anything. It's a self-enclosed vacation spot.

-Price. I paid $80 for a night... $60 for the room and $20 for all the tax and stuff. Great deal.

Cons:

-Swimming pool. It is located in the South Tower and is a long walk. Also only until 6pm, bummer...

-Casino smells, noisy, and drunks are everywhere. I think that's true for all casinos. I went to the slots at about 10pm to midnight and by the time I returned to my room I smelled like an ashtray. As for the drunks... mostly 20's to 30's partying, dancing in the main hallway... that's because there was an open bar/dj in the area... that is where the loud came in.

-Location. It is a good 10 blocks away from the steel pier since the casino is located near the end.

OVERALL: For a the price: AWESOME. For the family: MEH (I will try the Taj next time) If they put a swimming pool in the Havana Tower... it's a definite RETURN for family vacationers.

FINALLY: Also all those complaining in their reviews... chances are they stayed in the SOUTH TOWER. I stayed there a couple years ago and it is true it is a VERY, VERY dated and dirty hotel. If you get a chance always stay in the Havana tower. They should tear that tower down and build a new one... they the Tropicana would be one of the BEST hotel in Atlantic City.

The Tropicana casino is probably our favorite in Atlantic City. Although many of its games are similar to those in other casinos, we thought that the games at the Tropicana were the funnest.

The Tropicana also has a spa, restaurants, shops, and entertainment such as a comedy club and theater. I wish that it had more shows. We ended up watching a movie at the IMax theater, which had a large screen and plenty of seating but showed only a couple of movies. The couple dozen shops were OK, but we didn't buy anything in them because some of them you could find in a typical mall.

The Tropicana is on the boardwalk so you can easily walk on the beach.

We did not stay at the Tropicana hotel, so I cannot comment on the hotel at all. See the other reviews for that information.

There is a bus that goes from NYC's George Washington Bridge to the Tropicana. The bus costs something like $10, but when you arrive they give you $20 in cash and a free buffet. On arrival, we noted a nice enough hotel and casino. No, it is not as modern as some other hotels in Atlantic City, but it was still very clean and well kept. We had a nice spacious room. The casino itself was a lot of fun. The Tropicana is connected to an indoor mini-mall with several great restaurants, including a Cuban one that is not to be missed. The Tropicana is right on the boardwalk so y ou can go to the beach or walk to the other casinos. I will definitly stay here again.

This casino is in need of a little updating. The casino is not too bad, but the rooms are old an outdated - at least the one I stayed in was. Our meals were satisfactory too.

We did see a show while we were there, which was goo, but it was a very long walk to get to the theatre.

The Tropicana Casino is centrally located on the boardwalk making it a convenient stop. We have had the buffet there and it has high quality food at a reasonable price.

There are several good places to eat here that will not drain your wallet. The casino is large and noisy and tends to be crowded. We preferred some of the other casinos which were not as crowded.
