What a disaster of a day starting out with their so called pro named Peter. He was rude when we checked in and very short and acted like we were a bother tom him. I guess because we booked a tee time for 4 and only 3 of us showed up. Anyway this so called "pro" and I use this term lightly made us wait an hour past our tee time to teach us a lesson I suppose. I asked to talk to the GM but he said he was in charge...typical answer from a jerk. I blame myself for not leaving but it was a nice day and my friends wanted to play. Side note...I stopped in the grill to grab a sandwich but they were out of almost everything so I had a microwave hot dog. Be prepared they don't sell Tums! I heard the course was designed by someone more interested in selling lots then building a good course and it definitely shows. Their new nine holes we started on (Warning - DO NOT PLAY THIS NINE) could be the worst nine holes I have ever played! Don't waste your money or time! The second nine we played was OK but they list this course as a country club course that is ranked number 1 in the area. Back home this course would not be any better than our average municipal course. If this is the best Roanoke has to offer then no thanks! The only reason this course popped up on our radar screen was they had a nationally recognized pro named Chip Sullivan that I remembered from the PGA Tour. I did not know he was no longer there. He is now at another course in the area named Hanging Rock which I will try next time I am in the area. My opinion is don't waste your time with this one.

Ashley Plantation is a beautiful golf course. There are 18 challenging holes set amidst the Blue Ridge Mountains. The place also offers golf outings complete with great meals. The prices are a little high, but you definitely get your money's worth. Many special events are held here each year and there is a great shop and clubhouse.
