This might be the wost hotel i have ever stayed in, and this is from a person who has slept in a van on a road trip, with three other dudes(not like that). The beds are Old, they are hard, the rooms are old, dirty, and very cramped. The service is arrogant, the ones who speak English that is.. The Food is crap, there are much better places to eat, hell princess's diner down the montalk is much better and you can eat till you puke for 50 bucks less per person.I would suggest going to the surf club resort, its about 1/5th the price and offers much more for much less. The Spa is not worth the stay, there are much better ones much cheaper around the area.

I went here this past summer with 4 of my girls friends. We had such a good time. The food was excellent and the spa. What can i say it was the so relaxing. We had facials done together. If you want to get away with your friends and have a really nice time. I recommend this inn. It is very expensive be prepare to pay a lot for a weekend there not just the rooms but the food and drinks.

Gurney's Inn at Montauk is a terrificly wonderful place to escape with a few friends or a loved one. Spas on premiss and great dining any time of the day. Expensive retreat, but so worth it. Walk along the beach or bask in the sun. I would highly recommend this Inn....

Gurneys Inn is set on a beautiful beach yet is in need of major updating. The resort is NOT handicapped acceptable and no elevator is on the property. The spa was wonderful in the past visits. I have been to Gurneys 4 times prior and love the men??s Steam room, Sauna and Roman Bath. When the reservations were made in March 2008 for a May 2008 arrival we were not told the spa was being ??fixed?. It was only after driving 4hrs to the resort did we find out the Steam, Sauna and Roman bath were closed for the past two months for the men. The expensive weekend turned into a nightmare. The indoor pool was too cold to use and I felt totally robbed! I was offered $50.00 as a ??sorry? and told they should have told me about the facilities being closed but, the reservations department must have forgotten to call us. (I wonder why?)

I was also offered one free night ($250.00 value) at the resort without food for the closure of the Steam, Sauna and Roman Bath. I wanted a person in charge to understand that I paid $400.00 per night plus time away from my job and gas money to now sit in my room because the men??s facilities were closed and the indoor pool was too cold to use. I felt if an emergency ??spa fix-up? was needed, they needed to have a backup plan or offer guests another ??spa? to use in the area. Even better, I should have been told they were doing repairs for the past two months and I could have changed my dates.

I asked to speak to the General Manager to discuss the problem but he was not in the resort till the day after we depart. I called Mr. Monte??s office when he returned and asked for him to call me. When I did not get a call back within the week, I called again and then his secretary said he was busy but will call me the next day, I called again two days later and was told he was too busy and he will call the next week. He never returned my call. I do not think Mr. Monte cares about a guest concern.

Needless to say the bad service at the Gurneys inn starts at the top!

While at Gurneys Inn this last time, I overheard many people complain that the resort is going down and I must agree with them.

It??s a shame that such a wonderful resort can become so very bad.

In it's prime this was the hottest spot on Long Island . My father took me her several times when I was young . In the 1990's the complex was really showing it's age. Durning a recent trip back east ,I had hoped that things had changed .SORRY they had not!!!. The view of the ocean is Great but the owners need to make a MAJOR overhall of the complete complex,to regain it's Grand Luster. The food is only Fair.It really hurts me me to have to say this, but sometimes the truth hurts. I only Hope that the owner see this and fix the problems ,or sell the place to someone that can.

Pros: Nothing Now

Cons: EVERYTHING

this resort is expensive. i can definately see steps being a problem. however, every summer i stay in one of the cottages and i absolutely love it! i step out the front door to a porch and down a few steps and i'm right on the beach i could stay there forever! i love the spa! recently, the food in both the restaurant and cafe has gotten so much better. however, i would probably not recommend this resort for business travelers because you may not want to leave or have time to appreciate everything it has to offer.

Pros: beachfront, exceptional service, friendly

Cons: so many steps!

This is an expensive hotel, starting at $300 a night. It has one of the worst hotel restaurants I have ever experienced, serving canned food and diluted fruit juice. The nautical theming is stuck in the 1970s and everything from the bottled water ($4) to massages ($60 for a half hour) is overpriced. The service is extremely patchy and the layout of the hotel makes it difficult to get to the beach from your room without facing the nautical nightmare. I would strongly avoid anyone under the age of 60 visiting this passe beach location.
