We have driven by this place on Rt.5 so many times and finally we made a u-turn after passing it. That u-turn did not go to waste. The service here was fantastic. We started out with the Tom Kar soup which I absolutely loved (it is a Thai favorite of mine). The mushrooms were not reconstituted from dehydrate and the kafir lime made the taste so much fresher than what I have had. I had the Panang curry with chicken. It came with baby bok choy which was cooked perfectly and the curry sauce was so good I was tempted to lick my plate. My boyfriend had the Red Curry with duck. OMG it was rich and delicious. I will file this place in the front of my favs for Thai and will definately spread the news to others.

I work in New Haven where there are some great Thai places. I also live in Southington so have sampled some of the popular spots in Hartford also. After hearing rave reviews from people about certain places in both the New Haven and Hartford area, my boyfriend and I went on a mission to find the best Thai food in CT. We ALWAYS went to Dusitra in North Haven for lunch since it was centrally located and fairly priced, and just assumed it wasn't that great since we never heard of any reviews on it.. But ironically, after trying many places in CT that were supposedly "the best", we always compared them to Dusitra, and non ever measured up to their flavors.

Unlike many reviewers, we have a very high tolerance for high flavor, and Dusitra has since been the only thai restaurant that surpasses the reviews of other thai restaurants that we have explored based on their reviews. My first dish ordered there was the Drunken Noodles (made with beef) and it was sweet, salty, and spicy, and I couldnt stop eating it. My boyfriend constantly craves their Po Teak soup which is made fresh with fresh seafood to order. Their curries are thick and flavorful, no matter which one you choose, you wont be dissapointed. And even the blandest thing I have ordered there smashes the competition "most popular" dishes. I still have yet to find a Pad Thai that I think is worth ordering anywhere though...

I guess I am writing this because there are so many reviews for so many Thai places on this site, but after trying over 5 of the top rated ones, I still am happy to go back to Dusitra, and think more people should try it. No fluff, no overpriced ambience. Just clean comfortable aptmosphere with great and flavorful, non-pretentious food.

Pros: Flavorful food, plenty of parking, FAST service.

Cons: Ambience. They try though! It's not a hole in the wall, but it's not Morimoto's either.
