Five members of Meetup?s Thrifty Gourmets Group and I field-tested Cafe Condesa on Tuesday, July 15th at 8 PM. There was no host on duty, but the restaurant?s waitress and manager greeted me with warm, friendly expressions. My reservation was honored. Our table was prepared and available about 10 minutes before our planned seating time. The quietly outgoing waitress took time from her other responsibilities to step outside and inform us that we could take our seats. She willingly answered our questions about the menu and took our orders efficiently. Our dishes were delivered promptly and correctly. Unfortunately, though, our waitress had to serve at least five other tables and could not give us consistent attention throughout the evening. I shared the warm brie cheese with pine nuts, honey and toasted baguette as an appetizer with a fellow diner, had the striped bass Veracruz (slow cooked in tomato, poblano peppers and capers, with plaintains and rice) as my entree, and shared the fruit crumble with the table during dessert. All of these dishes were attractively presented, flavorful and satisfying. My shared appetizer, entree, and shared dessert cost $31, with tax and tip.

We were tourists, first time in NYC from Minneapolis. After wandering around the village for a few hours Sunday, we were looking for a place to eat our last night in New York. Our cabbie mentioned a place by "Small's Jazz Club" but we ended going in Cafe Condesa by accident, instead of the French restaurant that he mentioned. And boy was that ever a mistake that turned out positive. The atmosphere is comfy, cozy, hip, & friendly at the same time. The food was amazing. We sat at the stainless silver counter since the only table open was by the front door, and was a little chilly from people coming and going. My girlfriend and I started with the butternut squash soup, and ravioli appetizers, then we moved onto the steak filet and the scallops. The guy working the counter recommended a glass of wine that went perfectly with the steak. Everything was like a little mouthful of joy. :) We ended with the chocolate souffle and cappuccino's, and left comfortably full and content in the fact that this place was the perfect restaurant to end a vacation on. We will definitely be going back the next time we are in NYC. If I lived there, I'd be there at least once a month. Yes, it's that good. I hesitated even writing this because I don't want to have to stand in line for hours next time I go, as the secret about this hidden gem gets out...

Cafe Condesa is a gorgeous place for brunch: smallish but airy, sunny, tucked in enough on a little side street off 7th avenue to be private and cozy but still with a view of 7th avenue to allow you the feeling of a privileged viewer of NYC. My boyfriend and I stumbled upon it looking for a January 1st breakfast, and the food was delicious. Some of the softest and tastiest scrambled eggs I've ever had, and a delicious mimosa. Mimosas come in different flavors, too, for interest: strawberry and raspberry as well as orange. There were enough "real (i.e. manly) food" options for my boyfriend, who got a sandwich. Not too expensive, as well: the bill came to around $24, I think, which is cheaper than a comprable meal at UES brunch mainstay Annie's. The server was nice and appropriately attentive. Perfect place for a morning-after breakfast, I think, and I can't wait to try Condesa for lunch or dinner.

the service is attentive and casual the place is cozy so it feels like being at home. My favorite items are the huevos rancheros (they have a little too much cheese but if you ask the server for less they'll do) and the cob salad, huevos con chorizo are also very good the portions are just fine all though i haven't been there for dinner, but i cant wait...

I went to Cafe Condesa on a recent Saturday night and had the time of my life. We had the place to ourselves and the managers, chefs and staff were incredibly accomodating and friendly. They gave us free reign to use the space as we pleased and they followed through on all the things they said they would provide for us. It was the perfect size for our party of 25 and they took our opinions into account when putting together the food and drink for the weekend - the honorary guest that night loved white sangria and although they did not usually serve it - they made a bottomless amount and it was great! I would recommend this place to anyone - it has the "Village Charm" and is an intimate setting in a great location. Thanks for everything guys!

Cafe Condesa is one of my new favorite spots. We went there this past weekend for a friend's bachelorette party where they closed down the restaurant for our private party. They were so accomodating with the menu, total cost for the night and allowing us to stay as late as we wanted. It is such a cute place in the West Village and I would certainly recommend this great find to anyone. What a great spot!!

Recommended dishes are the goat cheese galette, the fettuccini, the halibut, the lamb and the superb Earl Grey creme brulee. Kudos to Chef Luis Mota, an alumnus of the kitchens of David Bouley and Union Square Cafe. The staff is warm and caring. Highly recommended!!

Very cute, informal eatery. I had the salmon and my companion had the lamb - both were tasty and served in perfect portions. Service was attentive and the ambiance was cute and cozy. Feels like it should be located on a picturesque sidestreet instead of a busy intersection. Lovely espresso and decent wine list.

All who work at this gourmet (but cheap!) little cafe are friendly and knowledgeable about the wine and fine food that they serve. The fettucine with brocolli rabe and the salmon are some favorite dishes of mine. The wine list is well priced and varied and includes a great pinot noir- the perfect light red wine for these hot august nights. So, yes, this place is fabulous- a must try! you'll go once and keep going back. it happened to me.
