The location, decor, and price make this one of favorite restaurants in NYC. All the food is excellent, portion size is great, and they even have a $7 lunch speacial that's amazing. Definitely check this place out.

I used to order "Room Service" for lunch all the time when I worked in Chelsea. That was over 1 year ago.

I returned this week for dinner with two other girlfriends of mine. I was all nostalgic about this place and couldn't wait to introduce it to my girls.

I started off with their cocoktail, "Room with a view", which is a vodka cocktail with lychee infusion. It was great. Then, I ordered the usual, pad kee mao with shrimp and my girl ordered the same dish with beef.

When the noodles came, we were both disappointed. It tasted as if the chef fell asleep while cooking so the noodles were all soggy. I felt cheated and betrayed because they used to did a much better job.

We eventually told our waiters to get a new bowl of the noodles because it was just unbearable. Fortunately, the second bowl of noodles is just right and the flavor is great.

I didn't know what happened to the first one but I was actually shocked that they screwed up two bowls. Otherwise, I would have given them 4 stars.

Pros: Cheap lunch special

I dont know what people call "cheap". Me any my wife spent $125.00 for dinner at this place. This is not cheap. Its average. Bit of loud music which I didnt mind. Overall, I give this place an average. Would I go there again - probably not, unless it I can't find another place to try.

This place was the perfect lunch spot between classes at FIT. Only $6 would get me chicken pad thai and steamed veggie dumplings! The decor is cute and inviting with colorful hotel room furniture and giant chandeliers. I got hooked on this place because they serve several lychee cocktails year round, including the lychee mimosa and lychee sangria. This is a great place to take a shopping break with friends for lunch or even sunday brunch!

I loved their curry puffs! I probably could have eaten 3 orders of them they were so good (LOL). My girlfriend is a vegetarian they substituted meat on one of her dishes. They got the order wrong but when they got it right she said it was delicious! It was loud, but who cares? Most places we go out to eat is too loud, but the food and price for RS make this one of my favorite places to eat.

This is probably your best bet in Chelsea considering how overpriced restaurants are on 8th ave.

Ive been to Room Service tons of times, and i never get sick of it.
The wait staff is friendly, the food is good (peanut sauce is amazing!) and relatively cheap. You can easily have a drink, appetizer and main dish for $25-30. If you go during happy hour there are lots of drinks for $5 ( I believe its 5-7 pm)

The decor inside is really nice too. Good lighting and cozy. It can get nosiy in there and sometimes feels like a gay club with dance music playing in the background all the time. Some people may like that...i like to be able to talk to my dinner companions and not have to shout but hey thats just me.

Overall, a great place for the money.

The food was good (we had pad thai and a curry dish), but my husband and I got horrible cramps after eating the food. We ordered twice from this place, and we got stomach cramps both times so I'm guessing it was not a coincidence. Needless to say, we will never be ordering from Room Service again....
Order at your own risk!

I was there tonight (02-01-09) and I had a GREAT time. I found it right here on citysearch and decided to give it a try. The service was pretty good and the decor is simply adorable. It was a bit noisy but I could hear my date just fine. Dumplings were so-so but I recommend the pork chops. They were devine. I would go hear on a date night or for some drinks. Ill definantly be back

Room Service is a pretty good restaurant. It has a nice vibe and the food is pretty tasty ( I had pad thai). It was pretty crowded when I went, but I didn't have to wait for a table and the service was pretty speedy. My only concern is that it was pretty pricey. For less money (and of course less posh environment) you can get equally good thai in NYC

Inexpensive, tasty Thai in a festive, eclectic decor. Don't forget to get your photo taken in the hanging bubble chair.

We'd been coming here for a year now, and just discovered their excellent (and for the area, cheap) brunch menu. We'll be back, whether it's bringing friends, out-of-towners or ordering in.

Four members of Meetup's Thrifty Gourmets and I field-tested Room Service on Tuesday, June 26th. None of the employees pursuing various tasks in the restaurant was clearly performing the role of host or greeter. The individual who welcomed our party did so lackadaisically. We were seated promptly at an attractively set table. Our waiter did not introduce himself or recommend any of Room Service's dishes. I observed him roll his eyes when a fellow diner needed some guidance regarding the menu. Our appetizers arrived promptly and were quite tasty. I particularly enjoyed the summer rolls and green dumplings. Our entrees were also served quickly. They were ample and very attractively presented. The plate on which my friend's spicy noodle dish was served, for example, was lightly dusted with bright red chili powder. I thought that dish was outstanding. I also enjoyed the flavoring of my sake-accented tuna, but found the fish itself a bit tough. Although the restaurant's pounding electronica created a lively, club-like atmosphere, it was played so loud that it made conversation---even among five people sitting closely around a table---difficult. The bartender was particularly rude, snidely refusing to change a $10 bill into singles, when they were clearly available.

Room Service offered great food for reasonable prices in Chelsea. It's a great option when you're looking for an inexpensive meal. The Crispy duck salad was especially good.

I've eaten there 3 times with friends, and the dishes come out piping hot before our appetizers are even done, which leaves you to wonder whether they are just microwaving the dishes. I ordered a noodle dish and it came out super hot, but before I was even done, the noodles underneath were cold. Also the last time I was there, I was half way through my meal when I noticed an insect in my food, I called the waiter over, and he examined the dish, questioning whether it was an insect or not and I pointed out that there are wings.. and finally he agreed and asked me if I wanted another one. Excuse me, but in that kind of circumstance, he should have comped me for my meal right away instead of questioning me and asking me if I'd like another dish which I would have to pay for. Rude Customer Service! Will never go back. Go to Thai Terminal on 12 St instead - great, tasty food that is actually prepared, not just heated up!

We both shared everything and loved everything - the service was great, the mood was super cute and we can't wait to go again. Definitely try it - don't hesitate even if you're not a veg the food looks fantastic!

Well a few reviewers went a little far in saying it was a trendy, luxurious place. While Room Service is definitely not your typical hole-in-the-wall Thai place, I also wouldn't say it's necessarily worth going out of the way for. The decor tries to be trendy, but it is obviously pretty cheap. I guess it's all relative to the menu prices. Since I live around the corner, I eat or order delivery from there about once a week. The food is great, and their drinks are pretty good too (but also pretty weak). I love their green vegetable dumplings, lard nah, fried rice, pad see ew, etc. I ordered the squid ink pasta once, which wasn't so good, so I generally stay away from their "fancier" entrees. And the Room Service Eggs Benedict for brunch is my fav (besides the prob 500+ calories). So if you're in the area, looking for a casual cheap dinner, then go here.. but I wouldn't recommend this as an "occasion" restaurant. Oh, and one more note on service.. one time, the waitress kicked us out of our table immediately after we had finished eating, even though we were still finishing our drinks.. but I don't hold it against them.. you can only expect so much from an establishment like this.

The place is cute and decorated nicely but there is nothing to absorb the noise. People were litterally yelling across the tables at one and other. The dishes and chairs clanking made for a headache at the end of the meal....but, the food is reasonable and pretty good. Two of our three entrees arrive first and were tasty and hot but the Catfish with Sticky Rice came out late and was cold and tough. I would recommend the Pumpkin Curry Chicken. It was a nice dish. The wines run $5 - 7 a glass and they have a happy hour with 2 for 1 beer. Entrees run from $10 -$19 with most specials being in the $13 -$15 range. Not bad for NYC!

This is possibly one of the nicest restaurants Ive ever been to -- in terms of decor AND food AND price. Is that even possible?? Room service proves.. it IS!

It's got a beeeautiful interior, the food is reeally good and most of all, reasonably priced. The drinks are to-die-for! They've got an excellent drink menu and during happy hour, they're all either 5 or 6 bucks. Beers are 2 for 1.

This place is the place to go to if you like to try all sorts of mixed drinks with cool names, or if you believe that lingerie is proper going-out attire!

After reading the reviews, I was expecting more. The decor was cute, very different, and prices were resonable. The thai iced tea was off, leaving a slightly bitter after taste. The appetizers were good, we ordered the spinach dumplings and the tod tofu. So after the great appetizers, we were surprised by the average entrees. We had the spicy basil noodles with tofu, which was fairly bland, and we also had the Panang curry. I've never had Panang curry, so perhaps its just not my thing, but definitely too much like coconut, we didn't even get through half of it.

It's not a bad place to go if you happen to be in the neighborhood and need a cheap place to eat, but definitely wouldn't go out of my way to go eat there

Room Service is so gorgeous. It has just openned up. The whole restaurant is a modern take on old Enligsh/Victorian style. The restaurant is on the small side, I would not wholly recommend for groups but is awesome for tables of two. The service is quick, food is a little slow to come out. However, upon openning hte menu you will not mind. Entrees start at $8 and drinks are pretty inexpensive as well. At these prices, dining at a gorgeous restaurant like this is a must.

Great place to go for Thai food...great portion size, atmosphere, and nice and trendy. Must try the drinks....Mango Mojito was great. Entrees: Amazing Pad Thai and the fish is good too...sea bass yum. For appetizers, try the Green Dumplings.

My friend recommended this place while we were out in the city. From the outside, it doesn't look like much but the decor on the inside is very well done. A little bit on the bright side for my taste but overall it looks trendy. The walls remind me of hotel wall paper and the booths have headboards. Very comfortable seating.

The food was extrememly tasty and the portions are very generous. And the price is reasonable if not 'cheap' by new york standards. Another great perk is their happy hour - everyday from 5-7p the cocktails are $5-6! The service was very professional. I would definitely recommend trying this spot at least once!

I've been here twice now. Brunch and dinner. Brunch was inventive, tasty and a true joy. The chili sauce served with my eggs was good enough to eat by itself. The servers are attentive and courteous. I found the same at dinner. I loved my pineapple fried rice and chicken satay skewers. My boyfriend had the blackened sea bass with mango - another success. We split shrimp packet appetizers, which were also great. As a longtime fan of spice and highline, I'll be sticking with 8th ave for my thai in the near future. Great great great.

When my friend suggested going to "that new thai place w/ a swing," I was intrigued. The door area has a clear, globe-like swing that patrons can perch on for a bit and even swing their legs out thru the front window if they like. Ultimately useless, but a whimsical fun touch. :) The whole place has a neofunky decor (think Spice) combined w/ a hotel theme. The service was excellent - a table wasn't immediately available, so the hostess sat us at the bar and was very attentive (as was our cute waiter). We didn't order any drinks, but they had some really creative names thrown in. We had really good grilled ginger honey pork chop and yummy pad thai (I go all over the city trying different places, so I'd like to think I'm not a complete amateur ;-). BIG portions! Our only complaint - my friend also ordered the Basil Uthaitip Pink Lemonade...which kinda tasted like seltzer water w/ basil in it. Other than that I totally loved the place! Saw many things on the menu that I don't normally see (e.g., Room Service pad thai - w/ mango, coconut beet sauce, wrapped in an egg omlette; and thai pumpkin flan) that I'd like to come back and try. Go now!

Went there for an early dinner on a Friday. The four of us had a fantastic meal. Everything we ate was divine! The honey ribs app is a must have. The decor is lush and something to marvel at. Attentive staff. It was an all around wonderful experience. I recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal and a way cheap price.

Went there for an early dinner on a Friday. The four of us had a fantastic meal. Everything we ate was divine! The honey ribs app is a must have. The decor is lush and something to marvel at. Attentive staff. It was an all around wonderful experience. I recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal and a way cheap price.

.

The trendy atmosphere threw my off at first, but wow I was pleasantly surprised when the food came. They have the basic Thai staples here and some more creative offerings. Prices are good and I am due for a visit soon.

Pros: atmosphere, food, price

Cons: absolutely none!
