Nice to sit outside and the burgers are great. The service is pretty SLOOOOOOOW. It's also expensive-ish. Great beer selection.

The burgers are delightfully seasoned. The waitress, Brenda is the sweetest. The problem: the other staff are kind of weird sometimes and a bit rude. One other thing is that it's very dark and sad in there if the sun isn't out.

Downtown Burger hits the spot on Court Street. Since its opening in May of 2006, DBG has quickly gained a loyal following of adults who dig the fresh burgers ,excellent nachos, the service is frendly, very clean restaurant and bathrooms

This place is in a great location, large seating inside and during nice weather- a good amount of tables outside. The food is standard American Bar foods, the veggie burger is good as is the veggie wrap. The biggest Plus for this bar is the Beer Menu- 350 different types of beer!!!

The big CON is the Service- It is pretty bad! Long waits for everything, to be seated, to give your order, get your food, and get your check! Can be Frustrating. But I did find if you sit at the bar to order your food, the service is better. It is best to treat it like a bar rather than a restaurant.

.

I ordered the Downtown Black Angus burger what I got felt like a frozen generic burger cooked and served disguised as an Angus burger, it was not freshly made. It was not an Angus burger I am used to. If anyone feels they are getting a Angus burger from here they don't get out much. MC Donald's serves a better Angus burger. Overall nothing special about my meal. Overpriced to boot.

are they kidding with their prices? apparently not. what a bunch of outright thieves! do not go here. there are plenty of better places not too far away. brazen head, pacific standard, eg. are they kidding? how stupid do they think we are? they absolutely gouge prices on even average, easy-to-find beers. and what's written here about their service is pretty accurate. they really don't want your patronage. so don't give it to them.

Pros: there is only one of them

Cons: i can't even describe their prices as expensive. insane price gougers!

I came here the other weekend with a bunch of friends who were visiting from out of town and we just wanted to go somewhere local and la*d back. Downtown has a lot of beer and that is what we were looking for. The food is typical american food and is pretty decent. We sat outside and it was nice to have that option. I didn't really find the beer or food to be that expensive. I guess it all depends on the kind of person that you are. We had a good time and it is a nice place to chill in the neighborhood.

Pros: Loads of Beer

Be prepared to pay top $ for any beer the owner deems "specialty," and don't assume you will be getting a pint for that top dollar. Food is adequate, and you can find similar fare served in neighboring bar/pubs for much less than at Downtown. So, if you have alot of expendable cash, and don't mind helping to pad the owner's pockets, you will love it here. If you want a decent night on the town, go elsewhere, because the only pleasure here is the outdoor seating where you can people watch.

Pros: Outside seating in the summertime is a plus.

Cons: Price, price, and price. Poor attitude of the staff.

been here many times, the food is usually pretty good. Grilled chicken sand., mozzerella sticks, chicken fingers and fries all really good. Nachos and quesadillas not so much. Seriously above average prices. Clean, plenty of tv's. Service is sometimes weird, very slow and the staff look totally miserable and confused. We've had mixed experiences with the bartender (big guy with red hair) most often he's really unfriendly. But if you live nearby, it's a good-enough standby to grab some beers, watch a game, have some snacks. Just don't expect much from the staff, and be prepared to pay $12 for chicken fingers!

I've been here many times, and there are things I like a lot about this place, and some not so great things, as well. I usually get the chicken sandwich, which is always delicious, especially with their yummy fries. I was with a friend who had the penne vodka once, and it looked like marinara, and he said it did not taste at all like vodka sauce. The quesadillas were not very good, and that's usually one of my favorites. The nachos are just ok. Chicken fingers are great (although $12 for chicken fingers is shocking). The wait service is not the best, as others have noticed. It's true, the owner (or manager?) as well as other staff, walk around looking extremly unhappy, and no matter how slow it is, service can sometime be pretty poor. We've also had experiences where the bartender is just plain nasty, acting like we're annoying him for sitting there and ordering a drink. The ambiance is very nice, a clean, good-looking sports bar setting with plenty of big TV's and a pretty big bar. Delievery is usually quick, and they have never gotten an order wrong, even when we make changes. Very pricey!

cellar101...who wrote the review about the service...couldn't be more accurate. Not only does it take a substantial amount of time to get seated and noticed. But all the servers and the proprieter walk around with scowles on their face. Possible one of the most uninviting places in all of brookyn. I ordered take out from this place the other day and after an HOUR AND A HALF still didn't have my food. I called Downtowns and asked for the manager. I asked him what I, as a customer need to do about this....and the man HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME. Thats one action that as a business owner..is unacceptable. There are plenty other restaurants in Brooklyn who value cutsomers and take appropriate action to rectify their errors when they occur. What I encountered at Downtowns is something that no one should have to deal with...especially in a place such as NYC where competition between these types of establishments is very high. I will never...ever again eat at nor order from this restaurant again. I am going to talk to all my friends in this neighborhood and encourage them to never eat at or order out from this restaurant again. I am absolutly discusted and am sure that once experience at Downtowns Bar and Grill is all you will need to share my feelings.

i've never writen a review before because i try to let these things go and normally think that complaining is a waste of energy....however my awful experience at this place has forced me.

we walked in the door and stood around for a bit waiting for someone to acknowlede us. we asked the bartender if we should seat ourselves when it became apparent that noone was coming. he nodded so we grabbed some menus and sat ourselves. after 10 min. without a hello or drink order my boyfriend went to the bar to place our order. the bartender acted surprised and asked where we were sitting, interestingly enough we were sitting right in front of the bar. at one point another "employee" walked into the room holding a pack of cigarettes. we were happy to see him thinking "great here's the server he was just on a break" we eagerly watched him go behind the bar where he stayed with scowl on his face. eventually we heard the kitchen bell ring and saw that it was our food but apparently we were the only ones because the bartender didn't go over to retrieve and serve our food for another 10 min. the salads we ordered were small and certainly not worth the $11 each we payed for them. half way through the meal we realized that the creepy old man who had been standing behind our table watching tv was the proprietor...... he too never acknowledged us.

this was, hands down, the worst dining experience in terms of service that i've had in ny and i've had plenty. you should avoid downtown bar and grill at all costs.

best

One word to describe this place, would be unmentionable. I've been to a couple of beer bars in my life, and this indeed has a wide and varied selection of beers from around the world. The US selection is impressive, Dogfish, Wyerbacher, Great Divide, Avery, Rogue just to name a few. I was in this past week and treated myself to the Dogfish 120, Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout, and Sam Adams Utopia. If you know beer you'll know what I am talking about. The night I was in they were stocking their wall unit which is along the back wall beside the bar. It was an amazing sight to see, a wall of patriotic beer. The bartender told me they had something like 280 American craft beers in bottle with the complete selection in the region of 600 with plans to increase to 1000.

In my younger years I visited Berlin and thought the House of 100 Beers was impressive - but this place blew me away. I left with a smile on my head and a copy of their beer bible (my words).
