Although rather small this is a nice place to dance a few latin beats.. they play a big variety of music and some reggae and hip hop.. The ambiance is very friendly and classy.. although parking is not the greatest!

Last night I celebrated a friends birthday with a large group of friends at 809 restaurant.
Here is the website because city search does not offer it for some reason
www.809restaurantcom
The restaurant was very beautiful, the food was excellent, and the wait staff was just so accommodating. The red wine sangria was awesome!!! Tres Leche Cake was great!!!
However, for a group of our size (10 people) the place was just tooo small. We were seated in the front area for the restaurant, right across from the bar so every time people walked in and out of the restaurant we felt the cold air from the door being open and closed. We were freezing most of the night so they tried to put on a portable heater for us but that was no help. Also because the area that we were seated in was so tight there was no room for more than one person to pass through the walk way between us and the bar. Eventually they ended up moving down the bar stools.
I also recommend having an early dinner rather than a late one (the group arrived around 10pm). Because this place turns into a lounge/club upstairs the noise level was elevated more that normal toward the later part of the night. Lastly if you are not familiar with this area of the city, here are two things to think about, there is not a lot of street parking in the area (very busy area) all street parking occupied ,we paid $20 for a parking garage and this place is all the way uptown right next to the GWB and about five minutes from the Bronx. All in all I would revisit 809 for the food and the sangria but with a lot less people. Oh and I wanted to thank the staff , they were just so nice.

This place sounds good - get the red snapper with seafood risotto in the middle. Also supposed to have very good sangria.

In a short period of time, this place has established itself as a jewel in the Inwood neighborhood of Manhattan.
I have been to 809 about 5 times now, for lunch and dinner. The food is consistently good and very well prepared, not to mention served with a high attention to detail.
The churrasco is by far the best in the whole area and one of the best I have tasted in the city.

I have eaten at 809 twice now. Both experiences were great. The sangria is unbelievable. The service is impeccable and everyone is very accommodating. My friend had the red snapper which was delicious and I had the steak special. They have great presentation and taste to match! It is worth the trip to the heights!
