i received the promo packaged as well, and it was a DISASTER. The package looks impressive, but in reality it is a big SCAM. for example, it says hair cut but it does not come with a blow dry, thats would be an extra 35$. there was a mini massage, and when they say mini THEY MENT IT. it was like only 10-15 minutes, the only thing that was good about it was Nadira. I in fact called in today to book an appointment with Nadira, and was told she does not work there anymore. I immediate canceled my appointment because i did not want to have any other employee but her. Some of the people who cut hair are talented. there was this one blond curvaceous woman, i wish i knew her name so i could recommend her. She probably left too, because the people there are SO SNOBBY. When i tried to book my appointment, she asked me which days, Monday or Sunday. I asked the times for each day, and she gave attitude and said NO picked which days. First of all the time is just as important as the day. POINT IS DO NOT GO THERE. THEY ARE HORRIBLE AND HAVE THE WORSE MANNERS.

I got a promotion to this salon ( I have done several promos of this type, with mixed results) and was very pleased with the results. First of all, the place wasn't jammed packed, as a lot of salons in this area (I did go early in the week, however). The facialist really took time to look at my skin and explain about the products that she was using on me. My skin felt amazing afterwards, not all irritated as some facialists have been too rough with me in the past. The massage was short but good. I got a trim the same day and the stylist did exactly what I asked her to do. Overall, a really nice experience.

As many of the reviewers I was approached while walking down TS and sold a promotional package. The man who sold me the package mentioned the stylists had all worked with celebrities, had an impressive curriculum and were very talented people so I thought I'd give it a go. When I arrived I was ignored by the receptionist who stayed on the phone for over 20 minutes and when he finally made the time to mind me he told me why didn't I call to make an appointment... I told him the name of the salesperson and how he told me I could go right now and have my haircut done and the snobby rude receptionist replied 'You shouldn't believe a salesperson on the street'... what do you mean I shouldn't? Isn't this the people you hire to sell your so-called promotional packages... what kind of logic is that?
I scheduled my haircut and showed up on time, thought my stylist did not! She then proceeded to cut my hair which she did very unevenly (so much for the celebrity curriculum and endless talent I was promised!) and do these people have any class? The simple answer is NO... as one of the stylists was rowing an unsatisfied client in a very loud, very rude and highly inappropiate tone. Would I ever come back? NO WAY! Forget the massage, manicure and facial I'm still owed... I would not set foot in that place if Nicole Kidman recommended it. These people are a bunch of talentless snobs with zero class.

I visited Salon Safar in early December 2006 because someone had recommended that I have a facial done by Nadira, the new facialist there. It was the greatest facial I have ever had done. The facial room was soooo inviting and relaxing. She had candles lit and a Putamayo Brazilian music cd on that made me feel as like I was in some wonderful South American country. All of the products Nadira used were natural & organic, such as organic oils, teas, vegetables, etc. They felt wonderful to my skin and my skin felt healthy and glowing when she had finished. Sort of like a detox & rejuvenation for the face She took time to mention what she was using and why she was using it, all the while recognizing the space in between for relaxation. I now tell every one I know who is planning on being in the city to book an appointment in advance for a facial. She books up quickly!
In addition to the great facial, I had my hair done by the master stylist Younes. He is the best, superb recommendation for hair color and a cut I love. This is definitely the salon for me and worth driving the 3 hours to New York every other month to get a facial and my hair done!
