went here twice , its pricey BUT if you dont want to drive to the city its good. steak and app. are good . service is good. i was there on a friday and there was live music

Didn't have a good experience, food was so so, steak was awful. Service was good, piano player was every entertaining in a drunken depressed sort of way.

This place is great. Was there Saturday night, service was perfect, food was great. I highly recommend you go to this place when you want Steak. Must TRY

I can't find one bad thing to say about this place. I was wowed when I walked in - didn't even feel like I was in Brooklyn. From the elegant dining room with gorgeous decor from floor to ceiling, I was excited to ee what the menu had to offer. No disappointments there either - I had the sea bass with truffle sauce and polenta and my date had the filet mignon. Both were to die for. Their wine list is quite extensive and the service was extrememly attentive and professional. The live piano player adds a nice touch to the already upscale dining experience. LOVE it here, will definitely be back.

I have to admit that I am quite the foody so when my date suggested the New York Steakhouse in Brooklyn i was unsure of how it would be. Let me just say that the from the moment I walked into the restaraunt i was pleasently surprised by its beautiful decor and welcoming staff.
We sat down and looked over the extensive wine list and settled on an italian pinot noir.
To start I highly recommend the crab cakes. They were savory and a delicious kick off to our meal. Then we had the porterhouse for two. If you like steak you will love this place. It was by far the best seasoned steak i have had in Brooklyn. Make sure to get a variety of sauces to dip it in. Truly mouth watering and I am making my self hungry for more as I type this review.

The restaurant is nice to look at but the compliments end there. The service was at best slow. The food was horrible. We spent over $250 for 4 people and still had to find somewhere else to eat.

lazy service, sub par food , costly to finish your meal stay away . there are other places to eat a better steak

To Start off..There is Nothing Wrong with this place!!!...Absolutely Perfect...from the Valet parking outside to the hostess greeting you, the setting of the place, and to top it off the service..Waiter asked everything..example how i like my steak (NY Strip 16oz)..and constantly checking on the table appox every 5-6 mins..His knowledge overall was a 10. Not my first time there. my first time there i had a english/russian speaking waiter..i couldnt understand anything. couple of weeks pass, and i decided to have a walk on emmons ave to get something to eat, and a young man which i believed was named joe was standing outside and letting people know about the specials once i came in he told me about the specials, and the drink of the day.when i told him i was there before and wasnt satisfied with my experience he told me to trust him..i believed him, and my 2nd time at the New York Steak House was..PERFECT!!
ASK FOR JOE..he will make your evening incredible, and make you leave the place with a smile wanting to come back...

This was one of the best experiences I ever had. After trying out other famous Steakhouses and reading some of the previous comments about New York Steakhouse I was a little bit hesitant in giving it a try.

I am glad that I did not listen to some of the negative reviews.

I love steak and if you do as well this is the place for you. The interior and ambiance is great, service and food was right on the money. It was a pleasure to see that the menu accommodated my whole table. There were steaks of course as well as an extensive fish and seafood menu and interestingly enough full Sushi Bar.

I also loved the fact the restaurant has a waterfront outside dining and a Baby Grand Piano with a very romantic soft live music.
The price was very reasonable and I even got a VIP card when I left, for future discounts.

Before I left, I asked the manager, why did they have some negative reviews, and he told me, that there were some issues in the past, but now with new General Manager and new Executive Chef Filip Dikker things were going smoothly.

I would definitely recommend for anyone to try this.

My experience was not stellar, but I take it with a grain of salt because I went on New Year's Eve before hitting NYC. The steak was good, but the sides were less than excellent. The veggies were severely over cooked and a bit tasteless. The place was fairly empty (I'm assuming in anticipation for the party crowd a bit later). The wait staff tried their best and checked in on us periodically, but were no where to be found when you REALLY needed something. . .like another beer - which by the way the selection is a bit sparse. I would try it one more time before giving it a really bad review. . .
