Dr Ryan and his staff are wonderful. I appreciate the attention he provides to my children. The best office I have experienced. In and Out also which is wonderful when you have multiple children along being a stay at home mom. Kids love Dr Ryan and respect what he tells them.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Nishihara! He really cares about his patients and my kids LOVE him! They even ask to go to the other ones appointment just so they can see him. He is also great at his job and i feel comfortable with trusting him with my children's health. I recommend him to everyone I know!

I was upset over the 5 min late rule too. As a mother of 6 with a newborn, it was impossible to get to my first appointment on time. I think I almost cried when they said I would need to reschedule. My next rescheduled appt happened to be in 40 minutes so I was ok with that. However, I have never seen a cleaner, more germaphobic pediatrician. He also takes illness very seriously and tries very hard to counsel patients on staying healthy. Lastly, the circumcision performed was the best out of my 3 sons. He is one of the best Pediatricians if you can handle his style. I do find him very kind and caring, but he will not bend on his rules or on what he thinks is medically best.

OMG. I cannot believe the negative remarks for this doctor. He has always provided awesome care for my children. He explains things, is thorough, and knowledgable. How dare you people judge him that way. There is no where that a parent can find a doctor who will make the child laugh, play with them and make them feel as if he is their friend (even like an uncle). This guy knows his stuff. Those negative criticisms are not the truth at all. I think those parents are trying to blame him for their inadequacies and bad parenting. He genuinely cares for my kids and all of his patients. I have seen many different doctors in the past, but I have found the doctor for my children.

How in the world is Dr. Nishihara allowed to get away with treating patients so badly? I can write 3 pages about our absolutely horrible experience with Dr. Nishihara, but I rather spend that time writing a complaint to the Medical Board. Dr. Nishihara is not only rude and obnoxious, in my opinion he is dangerous as he completely ignores what the parents and the children have to say and once he has his mind set on a diagnostics, he proceeds with disregard to the facts. In our case, his diagnostic was wrong.

We took our daughter for ADHD evaluation with Dr. Nishihara and there are no words to describe how horribly rude he was to us. He treated us disrespectfully and was very upset when we asked a simple question. He made my 9 year daughter feel so uncomfortable, that she bagged us to never take her over there again. Sooner or Later, Dr. Nishihara will have to learn to treat patient as humans, or he will end up losing his license to practice medicine. Save yourself and (more importantly) your kids from this experience.

I only took my child to Dr. Nishihara once when we moved into the area, and that was plenty! He was unhelpful when I asked questions, rude, and spent about 5 seconds with us before moving on to the next patient when my child was very sick. I do not believe he is any better qualified than any other doctors we have used, and the others have had a much better bedside manner. He did not genuinely care at all about our experience with him or the lack of treatment he was giving. I would NOT recommend him to anyone.

This is hand-down the very best pediatrician in Las Vegas. No waiting room jammed full of people, no waiting for your appointment, no being rushed through your visit by an overwhelmed staff, and no uncaring staff. Instead, you get a real doctor interacting with you and your child. I feel blessed to have found this office. If only I could find a similar doctor for myself...

By reading the reviews you either love him or hate him. We are in the love him category. He is direct and matter of fact, I am sure some people cant handle this. We met him when we moved here and I was pregnant with my 2nd child. He was amazing from the start in the hospital. He remembers everything, he knows your kids by name, he is very organized and very caring even seeing my daughter for a bad dream that she thought she was dying, he treated her like it was very real. He cares for all 4 of my kids now and I will drive across town for him. Yes he will make you rescedule if you are late, and I have been there late a few times, but I appreciate this policy. If more Dr's operated this way it would be a much more enjoyable experience. We love him!!

Dr. Nishihara is the best pediatrician I have come across in Las Vegas. He knows what he is doing and has his way of doing things. He makes follow-up calls himself over the weekend and gives your child the personal attention that they deserve. It's obvious that these negative reviews are from people who have their own issues. Parents are told in advance that if they are more than 5 mintues late that they will be re-scheduled. The doctor respects your time and expects you to respect his as well.

Dr. Nishihara is the best ped out there!

My daughter was born on May 6Th, 2005. I only had the pleasure of having this man be my daughter's doctor for a few short months, but continue to wish to this date that I would find a doctor as dedicated and efficient as him. My daughter has thrush really bad only a week old, and he immediately got me into see him, and later called me on the weekend to see how she was doing, what doctor anywhere else does that??? I haven't found another like him, and I am very picky about doctors. Most get paid wheather they treat you the right way or not. He goes above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied. If I move back to Vegas, I will be sure to head straight to his office and have my children be in his care.

wow. I have been seeing Dr. Nishihara since my son was board 3.5 years ago and now take my daughter 20 months. I do agree on some level the Dr. Nishihara's style is a little different. We interviewed 5 other Dr.s and found him to be the most knowledgeable. He is direct and I feel it is because he takes what he does seriously. He is caring for children in a very messed up health care world where a majority of the care provided is sub par at best. He expects you to provide the best care for your children and provides you the tools to do it. I like the fact that he is strict about apt times, I have waiting way to long in too many Dr. offices in this town and he takes that into consideration. If the matter needs attention he has spent the time with us. He never treats me like my concerns are frivolous and we have had to have our children referred to specialist and they too have been the best. If it is routine, he gets you in and out. The staff there is very accommodating. Jennifer and Monae take a very personal approach to the service they provide and although they have hired a few new people that are okay, I always get personal attention from Jennifer and Monae and my children love them. Dr. Nishihara is an excellent practitioner in his field and I truly wish that some of the other doctors that I have seen would manage their practices the way he does.

I have been to 3 different pediatricians in the valley and Dr. N is amazing! So prompt and friendly. My children LOVE him and his staff. He fitted me in immediately for an appointment for my sick baby. Thank you for taking great care of our family.

Dr. Nishihara is strict, but it is because he actually cares about his patients and follows AAP guidelines. I can see how some parents would be put off by him, but he has the children's best interests at heart, and that is hard for some belligerent parents to understand. We should all be so lucky to find doctors who actually enforce AAP guidelines like he does. I drive my son 6 hours to see him, since we moved out of state. That is how phenomenal he is.

I am so tired of all the whining. If you truly want a doctor that cares about the well-being of your child then Dr. Nishihara is the one for you. If a family has been dropped or can't handle his honesty Dr. Nishihara then I would question their abilities as a parent.

The last thing I want is a doctor sugar coating the facts. He is always accessible and even calls on the weekends to check in when my son is ill. He also laid down the law with Summerlin Hospital. They screwed up my sons blood tests and kept us is the hospital for an extra day, we ended up not having to pay for the stay because of Dr. Nishihara. He really goes to bat for his patients.

When I changed jobs and Dr. Nishihara was no longer covered, we continued to go to his office and they have always worked with us. We could not ask for a better doctor. His staff is always friendly and we never have an issue getting the records we needed.

Don't let these one off whiney reviews scare you away. Dr Nishihara is phenomenal.

I also had trouble with this doctor and have read a lot of the reviews posted. Even people who like Dr. Nishihara admit that he is arrogant, but someone even went so far as to say that he is just "saying it like it is" and that if you can't deal with the truth, you aren't good enough for this doctor. Others are charmed by the fact that you don't have to wait in his office. Well, here is some "saying it like it is" from a patient's mother. I can handle arrogance in a doctor but not when his strict rules about how it should be done interfere with the health of his small and helpless patients. As parents, it is our duty to protect our children from this type of blind arrogance. He is so sure he is right that he doesn't care about anything else. Well, in my daughter's case, he was wrong and it took a complaint to the medical board for him to do the right thing and he still contests that he wasn't to blame. Maybe his short wait time is due to the fact that there are more people like me out there who were smart enough to find a better doctor who doesn't think he knows it all and punishes those who question him. All I can say to those who are also burned by this man is to post your complaint and call the medical board. Maybe if enough of us complain, he will understand he isn't God.

Totally rude! The facade of the office is nice, but the doctor's attitude toward us as parents was very arrogant. He stated that he didn't often take patients with insurance like ours because it didn't provide for enough doctor's visits. He made me feel like he felt we were lucky to be allowed through the front door. It was enough to make me go elsewhere and then the real nightmare began. He refused to send my daughter's medical records to the new pediatrician. His staff was mean and rude to us when we had to make the request more than once due to his leaving out her immunization records. We finally had to appeal to the medical board before he condescended to send the one page fax of her shot records to the new doctor. Still he blamed the new doctor and her staff for the whole thing and insisted that we were at fault when it was his office that had not provided the shot records to us to begin with. This doctor may look nice to some people but he treated us like garbage.

I agree with the positive comments about Dr. Nishihara. He is very strict with his policies but for the benefit of his patients. He is great with my children. He does clean up after everything and washes his hands a lot. But it is my understanding that he does not want to get his patients sick. His office is very clean. He has taken wonderful care of my children and would not think of going anywhere else.

Doctor and staff cancelled me as a client for questioning why my 3 year old son should wait 5 months for updated shots when I was physically in the office having my son's fractured collar bone looked at, and the shots take only 5 minutes from his assistant. They explained I was on a "sick" visit and shots are done on a "well" visit. I explained this was needed for preschool admittance and I would have to go elsewhere to have the shots done timely. The staff was rude and said its my choice to go wherever I want. An hour later I received a call from the Doctor's office that I am being CANCELLED as a client. Meanwhile I have a 3 year old with a freshly fractured collar bone and now need to immediately find a new pediatrician. There has to be some recourse here and I am still going to research.

Dr. Nishihara has been fantastic from day one. Whenever my son is sick, I can call in the morning, and his staff will make an appointment for him the same day. Also, you never have to wait. Once you sign in, a member of his staff will take you in immediately, and you will see Dr. Nishihara usually within 5 minutes. The first few pediatricians that I interviewed before my son was born had chaotic offices, 20-40 parents in the waiting rooms, sick children in the same area as well children, and once you get into a private room to interview the doctor you can wait for 40 minutes or longer. Dr. Nishihara has NEVER had a chaotic waiting room like the ones that I experienced during my pregnancy. This is probably because he is very strict with appointment times. I would recommend leaving 15 minutes before you think you should to make sure that you are not late. If you are late, you will have to reschedule. The ladies that work in his office, Jennifer and Monae, have always been friendly, and professional. My son always runs to them to give them hugs (Even though Jennifer gives him shots). Overall, I would say that Dr. Nishihara is caring compassionate, and very thorough. I have told all of my friends with new babies that he is the best kept secret in Las Vegas.

I would not trust my two little ones with anyone else. Dr. Nishihara is an amazing doctor and is much more available than other pediatricians. He truly loves children and it shows in all of his interactions with them. His office is immaculate. If you have any common sense about raising children or preventing illnesses then all of Dr. Nishihara's advice will make sense to you. He is very strict in his practice, but when it comes to the health and well being of my children I would not want it any other way.
Thank you, Dr. Nishihara for all that you do! You are the best!

I agree with what everyone has said except that he is rude and condescending. I moved to this area from another state with two kids. Because my shots were administered at a different schedule than he does (still well with in the CDC recommendations) I was belittled and left alone in a room without any explanation. I found his staff cold and him just rude. I asked a few questions to try and understand what he was saying about my son being behind on his shots and he told me that I could find another pediatrician if I was not happy with his service. Those exact words. Arrogant, rude, condescending. It is fine to be strict with advice, but it is completely different to be rude and belittling to a parent who is looking out for the best interest of her child. Medical school, residency, and fellowship can teach you academics but practicing medicine with the public is far more than a text book. You can??t teach compassion, caring, common decency or what it is like to be a parent concerned about the care of your children. If you are taking the time to research doctors to take your child to, Dr. Nishihara is NOT for you. He does not want you to question him or try to understand him; he just wants you to do what he says and not be concerned about the health care your child is receiving. Don??t waste your time or your energy with this person.

Don't listen to the last review! I came to meadows when they first opened, I was so upset I was crying. My daughter was very ill and I was using a pediatrician in the same building (very bad experience), Meadows was great they took her right in and have been wonderful ever since. Now at about 3 or 4 years later I have my son under Dr. Nishiharas care (he even came to the hospital on his day off when my son was born) . They always get the kids in when their sick, they are always kind, and very efficient. You never have to worry about being in the waiting room for along time or with a million other people or sick kids. YES, POLICY IS VERY STRICT, but if you let one you have to let them all, and when it comes to my kids, and having to wait I can appreciate their standards, Meadows is about the patients best interest, (not unorganized parents). If you need things sugar coated and can't handle being told like it is, this is not the Doctors office for you.

We experienced very unpleaseant visit with this office. No welcome from the staffs when walked in to the office. Dr. rescheduled us just because we were late for 15 minutes. No exceptions!. We were driving 45 minutes from the other side of town and took the whole day off. They said the next appointment won't be available till another 3-4 months, and we are welcome to leave. They are busy and they do not need new patients at all. That's the rudest office I have ever been to. Very unpleasant and disappointed!! I will never ever go back.

Dr. N and his staff are wonderful. We have never had to wait, they always squeeze us in when our son is sick, and they will answer questions on the phone as well. I WOULD NOT take my son anywhere else and recommend Meadows to everyone.

Dr. Nishihara is a little odd, but a great doctor. He has had the same core staff for the last few years and they are all great. I recommend him to everybody I know. Love the less than five minute wait policy.

I agree with the other review. He is pretty strict with his recommendations, but it's good advice. I've never had to wait in the waiting room. We arrive, sign in, and are immediately ushered in. I recommend him to anyone.

This doctor is very strict with his advice. No taking baby outside until two months of life, only use Dreft detergent, etc. He is also very good. He has a strict $25 fee for missing or canceling an appointment within less than a 24hour notice. This policy pays off. My daughter has had 3 appointments and I have yet to sit down in the waiting room chairs. He is so quick in getting you in. He has his patients appointments scheduled so that he has time to talk to you and answer all your concerns and give advice without rushing you out. He has a small practice and loves children. Priced the same as any other office. This is in SUMMERLIN MEDICAL CENTER 436-7337

PROS: No Wait ever!
CONS:
