.

I was introducted to the Franklin County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, after feeling that something was not quite right with my son's development. He is a very bright child, but there was some worry that his speech/communication skills were not what they needed to be for his age. We were referred to FCBMR/DD by Ohio Help Me Grow, at the end of 2005. They "provide for children under the age of six who have developmental delays, disabilities or mental retardation." They determind what the child needs, what goals should be met and how, and work with the parents to set them up with needed therapy and also schooling (with their ECE program). My son was in their summer program this year, and is now in their highly structured preschool program. In addition, he is receiving various types of therapy to assist him - to ready him for kindergarden when he's the right age.

I cannot say enough about the people we have worked with up to now. I have been given a wealth of information to help me out as a parent with a child in need. My son's development in terms of his vocabulary and communication (while not perfect) are sky-rocketing. I would definately recommend this program to anybody whose child has similiar issues, or any more severe.

PROS: excellent service and care of children
CONS:
