Where do I begin? Beautiful surroundings, kind and caring staff. I just returned from cest la vie with my mother and sister. My mother has never been to a spa before and has adamantly refused in the past, however for her birthday we decided it was time for a pedicure. Leslie and Stephanie went out of their way to make all of us comfortable, offering tea and coffee plus a really GOOD pedicure.

There will never be a question what mom gets for the Holidays.

It's funny how people can view the same place so differently, which I guess is why there are suddenly so many "spas" in this area. After watching this huge building go up for so long, my mom and I were excited to try it out. WOW is it expensive. I think both our jaws dropped. I understand that things are very expensive for places like this in Manhattan, etc. but this is Middletown and it's not like the place is sitting in the middle of some beautiful view or something. Anyway I got a facial and my mom got a massage. We got appointments right away. The facial was O.K. but they are really pushy with about buying products and the products didn't wow me that much. I really didn't see a difference in my skin over the next few days and they tried to sell me over $100 worth of stuff! After $100 facial!! My mom wanted a deep tissue and it was expensive ($95 for 50 mins.)but a tiny girl did it who was not strong enough for a deep tissue. The people who worked on us were nice but the front desk woman was nasty and didn't smile or act interested in us at all. The place is really big but it's kinda empty feeling. I don't know I just got a weird impression from the whole thing. Like I was in a fishbowl or something. The hallways are really loud while you're in the rooms getting your services too. You can hear people walking by and talking constantly. There aren't any private showers or anything, it's just one big room where everyone has to change and only one steam shower (which wasn't on). If you want to go, definitely go with the facials instead of massage, or maybe the pedicures. They didn't seem as overpriced. If I ever get a gift cert. from here or something, I'll probably try a pedicure.

PROS: big, pleasant service people, same day appointments
CONS: hard sell on products, expensive, noisy, snobby front desk, changing rooms

After reading the reviews on other day spas's in Middletown (I won't mention any names), I can't figure out why people haven't tried C'est La Vie. This place is gorgeous! Not to mention the staff is very professional and accomodating. Services at C'est La Vie are top notch and well worth every penny.
