As noted in the other reviews we should have taken our cues from the lack of customers. The service was terrible, seems only one of the two waiters showed up. The food was mediocre at best, I had the peanut coconut curry with prawns.

I have tried Indian restaurants all over the Seattle area (Seattle, Eastside, Everett, etc) and this is easily one of the best I have ever had. The daily buffet is a great, inexpensive lunch option and the tandori chicken, butter chicken, and naan are all to die for. The negative reviews must be from people who have no idea what good indian food should taste like.

This restaurant is probably the worst restaurant on earth. Terrible stale food along with arrogant snobbish owners. I can't put in words how bad our experience and the food was. I think some of the slightly favorable reviews below were written by the owners themselves. I would have liked to do the owners a favor and give them more business by asking you guys to try out the restaurant and judge for yourselves how bad this place is; but I care about the readers. So don't visit this restaurant; not even in your dream (inception)

I was spending a night at the Redmond Marriott and walked a couple hundred yards or so to get to the restaurant. The restaurant includes "the usual" dishes plus some dishes fairly unique to Indian restaurants - I had chicken with a coconut-peanut sauce. The real treat was the following day when, after checking out of the hotel, I went back to the restaurant to sample the lunch buffet. It was fantastic, one of the best I've ever had at an Indian restaurant and - believe me - I've tried a lot of them. There were a wide number of both vegetarian and meat dishes - even three deserts. Everything I sampled was delicious. I liked it so much that I just got a weekend night for the Marriott next week. You can be sure that I will be visiting this restaurant again - hope it stays in the program!

"This is the only Indian restaurant I have been to that has a kid's menu. They are extremely kid-friendly. Really good chicken tikki masala. We ordered the non-veg appetizer plate and the chicken was fabulous - wonderful spices, but not spicy. We look forward to going again and trying something from their indo chinese menu."

I took a few visiting business guests and regret the decision. The food is not great, the bread was rather chewy & seemed as if it had been sitting out for a while. The rudeness of the service was worrisome. They got our order wrong and insisted they had it right. They said the bread is supposed to be served the way it was served. And I told them I was born yesterday.

The place was so empty at a rather busy time... should have taken the cue from that.

We stopped here for dinner after a very long day of driving. We were tired and hungry and just wanted some decent food. We both enjoy East Indian food and thought we would try this restaurant.
There was only one other table filled in the restaurant, but it was early......about 5:30. By the time we left 3 other tables had come in.
There were 2 of us and we ordered a side order of rice, one meat dish, one vegetable dish and 2 naan breads. You could pick the level of heat/spice in the dishes (1 to 5) so we chose a 3.
I love hot food and this was great! The flavours were amazing and the service was great. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone who like East Indian food. Even if you don't, I would still say it is worth a try. If this were at home, it would become a regular dinner spot.

Not only was the customer service excellent but the food was fabulous...We had the lamb tikka masala and the chicken tikka...a bit of spice but not too much...the meat was tender, the sauces were sweet and savory...It was my husband's Birthday so they came out with a dessert of mango ice cream and carrot cake..I thought I didn't have any more room but one taste of the ice cream and miraculously I was hungry...to mix the ice cream with the sponge cake gave it a swirl of flavors...It cooled our palate from the dinner...We are going back...one of the best Indian restaurants in the Seattle area...

We recently visited seattle and statyed at the mariott near mehfil. I really loved the buffet there - great variety and authentic taste - don't forget the free mango lassi. We were so impressed with the buffet that we decided to go for dinner the next day and we were not disappointed. My wife and kids loved the food.
we ordered a number of items - Lamb biryani, veg. fried rice, paneer tikka wraps, Chilly fish. I was a bit concerned to order fish at an indian restaraunt but chilly fish was the highlight - great taste. I wish there was a restaraunt like this in denver where i live. I've ordered biryani at a lot of indian places but mostly it is glorified fried rice with some lamb/chicken pieces added to it but the biryani at mehfil was very authentic.
I highly recommend this place and we will definitely revisit mehfil the next time we are in seattle.

Today I had a disappointing experience at Mehfil's Indian restaurant in Redmond Town Center.

Today my wife and I thought we'd try Mehfil's in Redmond Town Center. The time as about 2:15 PM. We went to Mehfil's and asked if the buffet was still running and the hostess cheerfully stated "yes it is running". I should have taken a look at the buffet, but given that I had asked, I assumed all would be OK. When we went to get our food, it was painfully obvious that we were staring at leftover food that had been sitting. We figured we'd make the best of it given that we were not too terribly hungry. I noticed that the salad bowl was pretty empty and I asked for it to be refilled. The owner came over and stated "We do not refill the buffet after 2:30 PM!" I don't know what the exact time was, but I told him "Just moments ago, I asked if your buffet was still operational". His response, in a rather rude tone was, "Everyone knows that at an Indian restaurant, no new food is added to the buffet after 2:30 PM." I told him I did not know that and I think that we were mislead by the hostess who moments ago stated "The buffet is operational." His response - "Sorry!"

I must share some of the blame for today's events. We asked without looking at the buffet. We appeared to be the only folks in the restaurant - a clear sign that should have caught our attention. I left feeling poorly treated and vowing to never return. Not so much because of the buffet, more so because of the rude treatment received. It was clear that the owner did not care about the impression he made. He cheerfully handed us our bill for $18 and when I politely told him how disappointed we were his response was "There are always people who will have negative things to say." This guy is a dope!

With the abundant choices of quality Indian food in the Seattle/Redmond area - Mehfil is one to avoid!

Mehfil has the best Indian food, hands down, in the Puget Sound area. I have rarely been to an Indian restaurant that uses fresher ingredients. Everything from the tenderness of the meat to the sweetness of the dessert displays the artistry of the chef. Must say I have only been to their buffet. However, from what I have seen, their dinner entrees must be made with even more attention. I rarely write reviews....this I had to. Enjoy!

Pros: Food

Cons: Hard to find. Ambience could be better. Even as is, is better than 99% of the Indian res in the US. Maybe some soothing indian instrumental music would be great. Hariprasad Chaurasia maybe.

.

I love Indian food, especially curry, and Mehfil definitely met all of my expectations. They have great service and offer authentic Indian cuisines at a reasonable price.

I have perused through others? comments and disagreed to the negative tones regarding the restaurant?s foods. My experience with the restaurant?s foods, service, ambiance, and location are general excellent. I took my Real Estate Clients and Friends there to treat them to dinner/buffet, and they all agreed with me that this restaurant has excellent quality in foods and service. Did I mention I love their desserts? They are tastefully delicious!!!! Also, the ambiance is by far greater than many Indian restaurants out there. This is one of many reasons why I keep coming back to them. Additionally, the owner, Krishna, and the staff members are very gracious and helpful. Just keep up the good work, good quality foods, and service. You will be doing great, Mehfil!!!!!

We went today to this place after a while since the new management came in (old name was Sahib cuisine). We ordered Indian chinese dishes. It was horrible - I would give it a rating of 2 or 3 out of 10. The schewzen noodles was glorified Maggi, you can cook better food at home in 2 minutes. Everything from soups, ragda patti to gobi manchurian and even the curries were really very bad. Avoid this place at any cost. Goto Bamboo Garden nearby for indian-chinese and every other Indian resturant in the Redmond area is many times better.

After reading several positve reviews my husband I decided to try this restaurant out. We were craving some home cooking. The food was disappointing to say the least, the services wasn't that great. The server messed up our order -- we order lamb vindaloo and ended up with chicken -- how do you mess that up?

Overall the food was not that great. The aloo tikka was pasty, the saag paneer was awful, the lamb vindaloo (but really wasn't) -- you don't put tomatoes in vindaloo. Anyways, been there, done that, would not go back.

This is an excellent dinner option on the eastside for Indian food. The a food is delectable, good service and ambience. For anyone looking for a slightly more authentic Indian experience, I would recommend this place over most others on the East side. I personally recommend the Kheema rolls and the Chettinaad chicken curry. The options are somewhat pricey, but I gladly pay for the quality.
The lunch buffet, however, is average and is comparable to other locations like Spice route, Taj palace - occasionally good, but not consistent enough to be a favorite lunch destination. If you have more time, I would recommend ordering a la carte, as this gives you the same variety available for dinner.
All in all, this is a great place to go, especially if you like Indian food!

First of all I need to disagree with the previous reviewer as he can't be more wrong. This place has the best buffet on the Eastside. They serve all kinds of indian dishes including indo chinese dishes in their buffet daily and to top it they have salads, different kinds of desserts, naan, garlic naan and sometimes chicken biryani (Yummmm it is heavenly). I have stopped going to other indian restaurants ever since I discovered this gem. I have beein going this place atleast 2 times a week and I am surprised everytime by their variety of dishes and their excellent service. They also have the best decor on the east side. I can't wait to try out their dinner. I would whole heartedly recommend this place to others.

Well, after reading some very good reviews on this website.. we decided to try this instead of the tried and tested. The ambiance was certainly good however the food.. even when you look at it was stale.. still we decided to give it a try.. the food was just awful.. how can you go wrong with even tandoori chicken? It was like chewing a rubber.

Nans were not freshly served although the server was picking and choosing which table to give fresh nan at. We requested however we were asked to fetch it from the buffet area.

Nothing special with the sweets even (may be it was a wrong day to go).

May be dinner time its better.. but I am sure we are not going to go again neither will I recommend anyone.

Visited this place couple of times. Food is real good. Good service. I am not into spicy food and I found the spice level was just right for every dish. I have been to other restaurants in Redmond and I would recommend this place. I liked Kathi rolls, butter chicken and rotis. Next time I will try indo-chinese dishes. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner.

I'd like to provide some thoughts on our experience at Mehfil, the facility, the staff and owners. We had so far 2 separate functions celebrating our son's birthday and another occasion at the restaurant. We chose this in the first place, because of the new management, the wonderful look, the reasonable prices and above all very dedicated management. I have to say both the events went off very well and so many of our friends gave great accolades about the service, the quality and variety of food, the immaculate premises and the personal involvement from the ownership. Top notch is the word. We'll and we already have recommended this restaurant to all our friends and acquaintances.

When we went back the second time (after the name change to Mehfil), the place was completely redecorated and the ambience is one of the top restaurants in Seattle. I would say you not only go to a place to eat just for the food but the overall experience and you certainly won't be dissapointed with this one.

In terms of dishes, you've got to taste Chicken Biryani. In addition the ownership is not hesitant to introduce items that bring back the good old times. BTW, if you do have any suggestions pls do have a word with one of the owners, they are extremely receptive to new thoughts.

Overall, I would rate this as one of the best restaurants I've seen even compared to the ones in say Boston, or New York or California (yes Bay Area folks!!) and of course Seattle.

Give it a try!!

Wow, what a great atmosphere! They have really gone all out on the decorations and the total ambiance of the restaurant. The painted ceiling, hand carved furniture, silk curtains and intricate glass figurines inside recesses on the wall all make for a superb dining experience. The food was just flat out excellent. You really have try their Paneer Tikka Masala. We loved the food so much that we went back there for lunch buffet a few days later. The choice of dishes was great. Along with the Indian food they also had selections from their indo-chinese menu. On that day they had my favorite indo-chinese dish available. They even had four different desserts available that day. Needless to say, I sampled each and every one. One of the cool things about this restaurant is that you can find out what they have for their daily buffet from their web site. I haven?t seen any of the local restaurants do this. They are definitely going to see a lot more of me!

Last weekend we were shopping at Redmond Town center, before you know it was lunch time and we had a long debate about which restaurent we should goto. We have a two year old and we always like to goto a place where we can get quick and excellent service. FInally we decided to try "Mehfil" which is in the same mall. "Wow" is what we all said as soon as we enetered the restaurent. It was beautifully decorated, we were very impressed with the ambience. Though the restaurent was busy with lot of customers we were welcomed and seated within no time. Our family is a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarians, best thing about Mehfil is the variety of food. We tried chicken65 and veg manuchurian for appetizers. I highly recommend chicken65, you should also try their mango lassi.

We are very impressed with their bread collection, I personally liked their kathli roti. I also recommend their chicken biryani, it's been a long time since I had such delicious biryani. The staff there is very friendly and co-operative, I recommend Mehfil to everyone who is looking for good food, great service.

I have visited this restaurant off and on during my visits to Seattle area during past few years. My recent visit, after more than a year, has surprised me pleasantly. Everything here has improved: Food to interiors.
Service: Clean granite tables. Clean napkins. There is no resemblance to the old. Food: One should try Kathi rolls. Indo chinese dishes are a must. My favourite - spicy andhra chicken.
Seating: Comfortable seating. We went on a Friday evening. Though the restaurant was crowded, hostess was prompt in seating us.
Observation: Given the crowd during our visit, we had an order mix up. Host was real nice and corrected the order. I guess, mix up's happen. We were happy with the way it was dealt with promptly.
Recommend to Others: Yes certainly.
Over all, I would gladly award 4.5 stars.

We recently had dinner at Mehfil. I was very impressed with the ambience and the service. The food quality was excellent. This was a very fine dining experience overall. We went with kids so the variety they have definitely helped. The prices seem to be pretty reasonable. The indo-chinese dishes are highly recommended.

Check out the kid's specia; the kids will eat free dinner on Mondays and Sundays (I think) But you have to ask :)

-Eloquent.

Message from Mehfil Fine Indian Dining

Mehfil means ??A place where family and friends gather to have a good time and create nostalgic memories?. It is an Urdu word from the time when India was ruled by kings. In their royal mehfils, exotic food was served while musicians, singers and dancers gathered to entertain the royalty. Such mehfils were held in palace courtyards which were usually open to the sky.

The overall theme at Mehfil Fine Indian Dining has been inspired from that era, for our patrons to experience. Hence the 20 feet high ceiling with chandeliers and painted sky, portraits of royalty adorning the arches of the wall, traditional lighted pigeon holes with crystal figurines of Indian Gods and Goddesses. The furniture further accentuates the theme with princely hand carved chairs from India, granite/marble table tops, and silk sarees (traditional garment that Indian women wear) used as drapes. The wait staff also wear Indian outfits at dinner.

Mehfil??s extensive menu offers primarily North Indian and Indo-Chinese cuisine, along with a select popular dishes from the rest of India. Our kitchen staff works hard and takes pride in preparing the dishes that are not only presented artistically, but also taste absolutely delicious. We use only the finest ingredients and spare no effort to make your visit to Mehfil memorable. Authentic Tandoori food served on sizzlers takes a little longer to prepare, but is certainly worth the wait.

Please sit back, relax and enjoy the ambience. Prepare yourself for a great dining experience. Indulge your taste buds.

We look forward to your suggestions and comments to further enhance your Mehfil experience. They can also be posted online on our website
