.

I have been going to this branch for 25 years and through three takeovers. Citibank isn't horrible, but it's not great either. But the current manager is just awful.

I have four accounts with Citibank. I have never bounced a check, I have never deposited a bad check and yet when they "upgraded" their computer system, holds were put on my deposits. The previous manager had no problem overriding the system to give me immediate credits, knowing I was an old and reliable customer.

Enter the new manager. She told me she would review my account and see if she could afford me the same courtesy as the previous manager. (Remember, no bounced checks and no bad deposits, and that record goes back at least as far as when Citibank ate up Cal Fed more than a decade ago.) She said no, she wouldn't do it.

When I go to other Citibank branches, they always credit my account based on my asking and their doing a quick check of my history. But I can't get the same courtesy at my own branch!

I strongly doubt that the manager even looked at my record. What I don't doubt is that my long hair and sometimes motley look, (I am a carpenter) had more to do with her decision than my banking history.

Let me add that the tellers are great as far as they can be, and even told me, when the problem first happened, where the old manager was now managing, so I could get an immediate credit on my deposits if I didn't mind driving that far. (I learned later that all I really had to do was go to any other branch.)

Real customer service ended at the Montana Avenue branch when the new manager took over.

Twice I have gone to this bank when I needed a human to help me. I have 7 citibank accounts of various types, and the people at this branch are rigid and do not want to go out of their way to help. They have a lot of workers/tellers, but both times I needed help with a business account, the woman in charge of this portion was rude. Even though she was doing NOTHING at her desk, she would not help me with an account problem. When I finally got fed up and wanted to close all of the accounts, the manager came to a window and tried to help. The business account woman continued to sit at her desk on the side. I was sent to Marina del Rey. They helped. Go elsewhere...
