Ratings_icons Great Coffeehouse and Local Place!

Barb P.

I read a review in Yes! Weekly about this and another coffeehouse in Kernersville and decided to check it out. The building is located inside the Factory Building in historic downtown on North Main Street. There is seating which faces this delightful courtyard. Coffee-wise you can get just about anything and they don't charge you extra to make it the way you want. They open early too and that makes it all the better. Something new for Kernersville! Bonus-fabulous bookshop is part of the fun.

Ratings_icons Shakespeare and Company Bookshop and Cafe

Jane P.

The shop is now located in the historic district of the town. The shop owners knows their customer base and even how many of them like their coffee. The shop closed last January and just reopened in December 2008 in its new location so the unpleasant review posted last July must be meant for another store. The shop's book selection is smaller than the big chains but well-chosen for the most part. One could say it is a small local gathering place for the locals.

Ratings_icons Doesn't Quite Equal the Original

The owner didn't respond when I sent her an e-mail. When I saw her in person she didn't respond when my mother made a comment. When I gave her something to read she snatched it out of my hand and didn't say anything. When she's making coffee for patrons she acts like she's performing the most important task in the world. And she's very brusque with guest authors. In short, she hasn't learned the fine art of communication.

Ratings_icons Very Small Bookstore

Anonymous

This bookstore is in an old home that has been converted to a bookstore. All of the rooms are small. The selection is poor. There are only two parking places and one of those is handicapped. The owner is very pushy about her coffee and refreshments.
