.

Wilson Park is probably the city's largest and most prominent park. It's located on main street and boasts a full size historical Santa Fe Train engine. The park was established in 1912 and the train was installed in 1955. It was installed by using temporary track and air compression. There is a memorial marker located in the park that tells the story of how the train got there. It lists of many of the gentlemen who install the train. Though several of the foremen are listed I believe that others who helped are not. My Grandfather Aguinaga also assisted in the installation as per family history.

An additional memorial marker is located at the front of the park. It is dedicated to Robert Docking who was the Governor of the State of Kansas for many years.

There are several amenities including swings, playground equipment, sidewalks benches, picnic benches and a covered gazebo. There are also several very nice tennis. The park features a covered rotunda where special events and concerts are held. Restrooms are available and there is some parking available. Daytime hours are 5am to 12am with the park being closed at night.
