Just to add to the first review. You do not need a permit to fish there and they have added two portable outhouses. One of which is handicap accessible. The dock is the only thing that may be diificult to take a wheelchair on, but one can wheel right up to the lake at the south end. This lake is definitely better for the disabled than most I have seen.

Arkansas City Veteran's Lake is formerly known a Sixth Street Pond. The City has began to clean up the area and make some improvements. They have added a circle drive and a fishing pier that you can walk down stairs to get to. I wouldn't recommend going there very late because the area is really dark. There is a BBQ grill and a picnic bench located at the site. There are not really any sidewalks other than to get to the pier, no restrooms available and no handicapped facilities and the side of the pond drop off sharply. There is a boat ramp but it is very very steep. Parking is plentiful.

No swimming and no alcohol allowed. You have to have a fishing license to fish. I also heard that you need a permit from the City to fish but I am not verified this.
