I just got my hair cut and colored today at the school. It's not horrible but not great. It's not something that makes me want to go back. You can definately tell it wasn't a professional job. Be warned that it takes a long time. I mean a LOOOOOONG time. It took 4 hours to do my hair - 3 to do it and probably an hour of my stylist chatting around with people about personal stuff. HELLO!!! I'm your client right now. I don't need to hear you and someone else negatively gossip about your fellow students and instructors.
Remember that your hair is only as good as the student they assign to you. The student that did my hair took FOREVER and stopped to chat with her friends other students too many times. Very unprofessional. Some instructors care and some don't. Unfortunately, my person's instructor didn't care to come over and take a look at anything. He was busy socializing too.
My cut is not straight and my highlights do not go all the way to my roots so I look like I have 3 months of growth when I just did it today. I payed $70 and am going to a real salon and paying more to have it fixed. She (Andi) didn't even ask what I wanted. I cannot believe they are letting her graduate tonight. That means she out there doing hair somewhere. Scary thought!!!!!!!
Well, she just started cutting and didn't ask me what I wanted. And when she went to shampoo my hair, she got my shirt and pants soaked. How does that happen? Her response was, "oh it's hot outside, it'll dry". I had to ask for a towel because it didn't occur to her to give me one.
To be fair, I'm sure there's a lot of talent there because they do each other's hair and some of the styles look amazing. However, you may not always luck out and get someone who is good or who really cares to do a good job. You might get who I got and end up having to go to a real salon later. However, if you hear wonderful things about a particular person at the school, then try it out. But don't just book an appointment without a referral because you just do know who you'll get.
I have heard great things about the Costa Mesa location and wished that my experience at the Atlanta one was just as great, but it made me afraid to return.
You have to LOVE your new haircut and color and I don't. I'm trying hard to just LIKE it. Lesson learned - if you want highlights or a haircut you are going to LOVE, pay the extra and go to a real salon.
