I went to Canaan to get my brakes checked and shocks replaced. I dropped my car off at 10 am and was told that they would call me with an estimate. I never got a call.

At 5:30 I started calling them, because they advertise that they close at 6. There was no answer. So I got a lift and drove up to the shop. They were closed! And my car was locked up inside the shop! I did NOT give them consent to keep my car overnight. I needed my car to get to work the next day.

So I unexpectedly had to find a ride to work the next day. I started calling at 8:30, and they finally answered at 9:15. Advertised open time is 9. Josh told me they had closed the night before at 5:30.
When I asked him why he didnt call me, he didnt really have an answer, but they hadnt done anything with my car at all!

So I went up to the shop, got my car back, and took my business elsewhere. This is horrible customer service. It would have jepordized my job if I hadnt been able to find a ride. I will never go to Canaan again, and neither will anyone else I know.

We have been there several times and they are the most reasonable place around. Very reasonable on tires and if you buy them there you get tire rotations every 6000 miles for the life of the car for free. Very good service, they do the job right and don't try to sell you things you don't need.

Horrible! I brought my car into Caanan yesterday for repair work under warranty. I gave the owner, Josh, the warranty documentation and specifically talked about the requirement to have all work authorized by the warranty company prior to beginning any work. Josh agreed, several times and indicated he had received authorization. While the work was to be completed yesterday, when I went to pick up the car it still wasn't ready. Myself and my witness again asked whether the work was authorized by the warranty company. Josh stated "yes, it is fully coverered and I would not owe anything". I received a call from Josh several hours lates stating the warranty would not cover the work and I would need to pay him $517.87 if I wanted my car. When asked why he had told me it was authorized if he wasn't true, his comment was "Oh well, I made a mistake". He had never actually contacted the warranty company until this afternoon - after he had performed the work and just expected I would pay for it. Since I could not pay, he removed the parts (gaskets, etc.) and finally returned the car to me this afternoon. This is a horrible way to conduct business and completely dishonest!

I had a great experience with Canaan Auto Repair. They were able to work my car in without an appointment & they fixed it that same day. The service was excellent & the price very reasonable.
