I flew out to CA to attend my granddaughters 3rd birthday party. My daughter booked it in July for a Sept 12 party. I just read this previous review and found our experience so similar. My daughter tried to confirm the party a few days in advance with no call, text or email back. Finally the night before we heard from them and there was a thirty minute discrepancy in the time which we thought "ok, several times went back and forth so I might have screwed up" But my daughter was also told she could add 15 minute increments for a fee which she was planning to do if everyone showed up. The owner, Staci, at the last minute now said that wasn't possible because they booked a party at 12:30 an hour away from here. We got very nervous because that gave them no time to pack up etc...Called everyone coming to the party and asked them to come thirty minutes early. The pony company called to confirm address about fifty minutes before party then ten minutes before the party started they called and said they had a flat tire, no spare and they were in Concord which was still an hour away. We offered to come help change the tire because we had two young men with us; no. We offered to just pick up a couple of crated animals with the coworker until they could get it fixed; no. They offered no solution and they would not let us talk to the owner to try to come up with a solution. The owner wouldn't take a call and for three full days would not text, email or call to discuss return of the deposit which is the most unprofessional thing I have ever dealt with in a service industry. Still hasn't. Today, while trying to contact the company again, we see on Facebook pictures of them at a party in Concord along with pictures of their 12:30 commitment. Because we can't talk to the person, I make up that they double booked since that is where they were "stranded". There were so many other ways this could have been handled or could be handled now to return the deposit. I am sure if they come to the party it is great but if they don't and you are standing there ten minutes before with a bunch of people coming and nothing to do to entertain them, it's an awful experience instead of a joyous celebration. Just read a couple of reviews with a similar experience...got lost and then ran out of gas so couldn't make it. People need to see all reviews to see if they want to take a chance.

Today I had my daugther's 2nd birthday party with Tickle Me Pony Parties providing 2 ponies and a mini petting zoo. While Stacey, the owner, was delightful to deal with early on, the last few days have really been disappointing, culminating in the ponies and petting zoo showing up late and the attendants having the time on their sheet WRONG by 30 mins. I would echo the comments of others about how frustratingly unreachable the owner is. On Thursday morning I emailed the owner to confirm that we were all set for the party. Having not heard from her by Friday I left two phone messages and sent another email by Friday evening. I NEVER heard back from her (still have not) which I find truly appalling. Furthermore, 10 days ago I asked her if we could move up the party by 30 minutes and she told me in email it was no problem and that she would make the change. However the attendants who arrived late with the animals said they never knew of the change and still had the original party time on their paperword. So while the ponies, bunnies, chickens and ducks were all cute (and the kids had a great time), I suspect you can find a pony party service that is more professional and reliable than this one.

I used Pony Parties this past saturday for my daughter's 5th Birthday.. At first she got on with no hestitation until the pony made that weird noise and sneezed, after that she was scared..The staff was VERY friendly calming her down and trying to convince her it was ok to ride the pony and that he was just communicating with the other pony they had in the trailer.. she was then convinced to go talk to other pony Shadow (black and grey one).. she still did not want to ride shadow but at least she got on long enough for a picture.. they also let her walk shadow all around as many times as she wanted since she did not want to ride him and she really enjoyed herself...they did arrive 15 minutes late but whats 15 minutes, we still received our full hour with the ponies.. The staff was excellent and very friendly I would highly recommend them.. Also Stacey was excellent communicating with me about the party and reservation, she responded quickly to all my emails and was very polite.. I had absolutely NO problem with them at all..

i am very upset by the experience i had today with this company. the animal handlers were an hour late. They got lost and when they called for directions i could hear the driver screaming profanities at the person i was giving directions to and threatening that if he couldnt find it he was going to turn back. when they did arrive it was worst! the driver, who was a thin older man with white hair, was making rude, crass and totally inappropriate comments about how he wanted the birthday mom and friend to, "ride his pony." he also was very rough with the animals and made myself and my guests uncomfortable with his behavior! HORRIBLE to feel this way. just wanted a nice experience for my toddler and her friends. RUN FAR FROM THIS SERVICE!

I completely agree with Lisa D. My biggest frustration with them was that I didn't get an email or phone confirmation the day before the party. I made the reservation weeks ahead so I wanted to make sure everything was fine. When they arrived the day of the party, the ponies arrived with no bows. They looked nothing like the ones I saw on line, and I had requested. They guys were rude, and said " fine if you want bows, I"ll get you bows" he took out some cheap curling ribbon and make a ridiculous bow. Nothing like what the owner said..."They come very cute with big bows." One of the horses was not really a pony, he was much taller than the other. Most of the kids at the party were afraid of it, so they only rode one of the horses. Two weeks later, my other daughter had a party. I had the petting zoo for her. I didn't want to cancel because I was afraid I couldn't find something else in that short time. I was afraid of what they might bring, but everything they brought was great. The animals were very clean and seemed healthy. The kids really enjoyed the animals. I didn't like the small petting area though. The attendants were very nice. They told me that next time, I had to be specific, and ask for separate petting areas, pigs in one, bunnies in another. Hope this helps...

Overall those attending the party enjoyed having the full petting zoo. The attendants were friendly and polite and prompt. It was successful in that regard because everyone enjoyed petting the animals. However, I was disappointed with the size of the zoo. I was expecting it to be the center and main attraction of our party but it was small and the enclosure was barely 6 feet across. I was also disappointed with the tattoo painting. For $45.00 there was a basket of small stickers. It was nothing like the face painting I have seen done or expected. I also had the hardest time connecting with personnel at Tickle Me Ponies. They never seem to answer their phone or respond to emails promptly if at all. Only when they had difficulty putting my credit card through did I hear from them. Bottom line: they did bring some cute animals for the children to pet, but I was soooo glad I provided other entertainment for the children because if I had relied only on the petting zoo, it would of been a much bigger disappointment. Having a pony for the children to ride would of made it great but I paid $380.00 for the zoo and tattoo's and I think that was enough.

I have used Stacey Young for two parties and both were a great success. We had a pony come to our home in Castro Valley and give rides for my child's 3rd birthday party and for the fourth birthday party we had the "mini-zoo" come. Both times the Pony Party people were prompt, thorough and above all, very very good with both the children and the animals. They stayed beyond the hour we contracted for, answered all questions and gave multiple rides to all the children as we did not have a large number of kids attending. The highlight of the mini-zoo was the number and variety of animals roaming around the enclosed space set up in our yard. At one point one of the chickens laid an egg and the miniature pot-bellied pig ate the egg. The kids were beyond excited. They even got to feed all the animals, all of which were calm and even-tempered.

It's pricey. Between $100 local to Brentwood and the $200 I paid for service to Castro Valley but you get a lot for your money and nobody who attends will ever forget how much fun they had. Especially your child. Mine is still talking about it 3 years later.
