I have always loved reading, and growing up, I always enjoyed trips with my family to the library. I discovered the Cinco Ranch Public Library shortly after we moved here, and I truly believe it is a wonderful resource in our community. If you have not visited this branch before, it is located off of Cinco Ranch Boulevard just across from Cinco Ranch High School. The library building itself is beautiful building and it is surrounded by green grass, walkways, a lake, and even a bridge.

The library has wonderful programs for children of all ages including a "Mother Goose" story time for infants, a "Toddler Time" for children ages 18 months-3 years, "Story Time" for preschool-aged children, "Kinder Korner" (specifically for kindergarten-aged children), a "School Age Program" (which includes crafts, a movie, and stories), and a "Young Adult club" for youth ages 10-14. They also offer a "Pajama Storytime" once a week for all ages. You can access the calendar of monthly activities for children and adults here:

My daughter loves the toddler story time and the pajama story time. Both are held in the meeting room that is just to the left as you enter the library. There is usually a pretty large gathering of parents and toddlers for both events, and most people sit on the floor although they do have a few chairs available. They provide parents with a hand-out each week of the "agenda" and it includes the books that will be read and the words and movements for the songs and activities. They do a great job of keeping the children engaged and of mixing books with finger plays, songs and activities, and the people presenting are always very energetic. When the story time is over, they have a craft afterward. I am always amazed at how organized they are. They have an individual "pencil box" with the needed items for each child and then people handing out the pictures and other materials. Children dress in their pajamas for the pajama story time, and can bring blankets as well. This story time usually includes a short movie.

The children's section of the library is very large and they have a good variety of books for all ages (including board books and picture books). They also have videos and CDs available for check out. The people who work there have always been very friendly and helpful. There are different areas throughout the children's section where children can stop and play. There is a dollhouse in one area and a big Lego's play table in another area. There are rocking chairs so you can stop and read a book with your child or small tables with wooden play toys like animals, puzzles, and an abacus. There are also computers with a variety of games and educational programs from toddlers through school age children. I usually have to drag my daughter out of here!

Some other features that are available at the library include: a computer lab (you can make a reservation or just "walk in"), free WiFi access for people with laptops, and printing and scanning services. They also have study rooms available on the second floor.

One of the things that I also love about this branch is that you can access the library catalog online. You can put a hold on books that you wish to check out and then you have three days to stop in and pick them up. You can also request books that are checked out or renew books that you already have.
