5 Stars: He deserves 10 Stars! (by lack o.)

I had been seen by a couple of doctors prior to meeting with Dr. Mehlhoff and was never comfortable or at ease about my situation. I was referred to Dr. Mehlhoff by a former patient of his. Long story short, Dr. Mehlhoff took me as a patient with great care, compassion and a genuine interest in me as a patient. He was very thorough with me throughout the whole process. He sits down and takes his time at every visit; he does not get up until he has answered all your questions. I never felt rushed (I have had 5 visits plus surgery with more to come) by him or as if I was wasting his time with my questions and concerns. If you want a doctor that truly cares about his patience and takes the necessary time and effort to care for you, this is the doctor. His assistant Kim is a wonderful person; the whole staff there at Texas Orthopedic Hospital is great.

All you need is one visit with him and you will see he is just a different type of doctor. I wish all my doctors were cut from this mold; he is truly a rare find.

Thank you Dr. Mehlhoff!

5 Stars: Dr. Melhoff is a "world class" orthopedic surgeon (by Melissa W.)

My husband initially broke his wrist in March. He suffered a number of complications from that time on where it was not healing properly and eventually it broke again in July. He had been to a number of doctors and orthopedic specialists and finally someone recommended Dr. Melhoff.

Dr. Melhoff specializes in hand surgery and upper-extremity orthopedic surgery, including surgery of the hand, wrist and elbow. He is well-known in his field and has received numerous awards and recognitions professionally. He has also served as the team physician for the Astros since 1990.

My husband was impressed with Dr. Melhoff from the start. He had been so frustrated because he just wanted his wrist to heal and he felt like nothing was working. Dr. Melhoff carefully walked him through his options and made sure that all other options and resources had been exhausted before recommending surgery.

On the day of the surgery, he explained everything to both of us prior to the surgery and then afterward, explained the outcome to me using terminology that I could understand. His follow-up care has also been excellent and my husband is thrilled to be on the road to recovery.

If you are looking for a great orthopedic surgeon, I strongly recommend Dr. Melhoff. He currently works with the Fondren Orthopedic Group, which is nationally recognized, and which is currently housed in Texas Orthopedic Hospital.

If you do visit Dr. Melhoff, be aware that there is a private parking garage attached and parking is a bit pricey. They only accept cash, so come prepared for that as well. There is a Prosperity Bank ATM on the premises, but if you don't bank with them, the machine will charge you a fee and your bank will likely charge a fee as well.
