Fantastic hair salon on quiet Maple Street
I've been a client of Steven's for about five years now, and he gets my highest recommendation. Every time I go in, Steven and I talk about my job (an engineer) and how I want a haircut that is low maintenance enough to not get in the way of my busy day, but also cute and attractive enough to keep my femininity in an office full of men. He then goes to work, designing me a haircut that fits exactly what I want. We call it "sexy engineer hair" because it's easy and flattering on a daily basis, but with enough sass to be noticed when I'm going out. It is a different cut every time, but I'm always amazed by the number of compliments I receive and the great way the cut grows out.
I've noticed that others have commented on the price of this salon. SuperCuts, this is not. But, with the quality, the professionalism, and the attention given to each customer, it is absolutely worth it.

This place is horrible!
I received a haircut from Steven Sobel and the way it looks is that i must have come in there on a bad day. I had an appointment 2 p.m. and the girl could not take me until 2:30 so i was ran late for my next activity that needed to be done. Once I was in her chair she was so rude to me and made fun of the way i wanted to cut my hair, i asked her to straighten it and she seemed to not understand. After I was done she hounded me to buy products from her after I insisted that I did not need any. I will not go back to Steven Sobel again. Ill continue looking around. Maybe the reason why they could take most of these people right away is because they have no business!

Great cuts from two different stylists..don't expect to leave for under $50
My husband and I have both had our hair cut at Steve Sobel, and we've both been happy with the results. Ivonne did a good job on my basic haircut, and more recently Rena cut about 6 inches off my hair and gave me a really nice bob. I went in with a basic idea of what I wanted and left the rest up to her. At first I was a little nervous because she seemed unsure, but the finished product was great! She took her time and didn't rush, which I appreciate. They were even able to see me on short notice - the same afternoon that I called for an appointment. This is a good salon if you have an idea of what you want but need some expert advice to be sure. My only complaint is the price - $50 for a haircut is certainly expensive, but I don't mind paying more for a drastic change executed well. The staff is fashionable but friendly, and I'll definitely be going back.

NEVER BEEN HAPPIER
For many years I have been a devoted client of the AVEDA Salon but could never understand why my highlighted hair had somewhat of a green hue to it. I thought it was my imagination, until one day, a friend (whom I had not seen in many years) mentioned that my hair looked a bit green. At that point, I knew it was NOT MY IMAGINATION. She recommended me to the Steven Sobel Salon on Maple Street where she has been a client for many years. I called for an appointment, was seen within a day.....my consult was with Steven.....NEED I SAY MORE.....my hair is now gorgeous.....the salon and staff are fabulous and I am so very happy. AVOID.....AVEDA, GIRLS.... Thank You to STEVEN SOBEL SALON

Exactly what I wanted
I went to Steven Sobel for the first time and got my long hair cut and colored. My friend and her family have been going to him for years, and her hair has always come out great. Steven recommended a darker shade which I was skeptical of at first, but it came out great. I couldn't have been happier with the warm service and great stylists. The cut was great and fit my face perfectly. I will definitely be back and would recommend this salon to all of my friends. Great results!

Very personalized service
For my entire life, I've had my hair done by the same salon in New York. It was a Korean place, and the owner was a friend of my mom's. I love perming my straight hair, but with my salon in New York, that service was something to be desired. The curls were uneven, and my hair came out dry and crispy looking. No matter how many pictures I showed them, the results (1) looked nothing like the picture, but (2) always looked the same as all the previous perms. As I am in New Orleans for most of the year, I decided to look for a salon here. I remembered Steven Sobel from an InStyle magazine that featured them as the best salon in New Orleans to get a color treatment. I made an appointment with Ivonne, who has naturally curly hair herself. For a person usually left with a magazine while my stylist went to take care of another person, the one-on-one session was luxurious, if not a little disconcerting. I told her about my previous experiences, and for the first time, I was an active player in choosing the size of the rollers, where the curls began, and how it was done. From 2 until closing, I was the only customer, and I felt very taken care of. I asked for it to be more curly than not, and when it was done, it was a little too curly. She said it would loosen out and surely enough it did. I got so many compliments, by people who never complimented me when I had my previous perms- that says something, doesn't it?
Pros: Loved the results
Cons: Had to pay for some hair products put in after perm- though I was never asked, nor notified of extra price

BEST HAIR COLOR .
I TRIED OTHER SALONS JUST AFTER MOVING TO NEW ORLEANS, NOT TOO HAPPY . I WAS ON MY WAY BACK HOME TO NEW YORK TO HAVE MY HAIR DONE BY MY OLD STYLIST WHEN A FRIEND TOLD ME ABOUT THE STEVEN SOBEL SALON . I MADE AN APPOINTMENT, HAD A CONSULATAION ABOUT MY HAIR COLOR THAT I WAS NOT TO HAPPY ABOUT. EVERYONE SEEMED SO NICE AND MADE ME FEEL COMFORTABLE ABOUT GETTING MY HAIR DONE. WELL THE ABSOLUTE BEST CHOICE I MADE , MY HAIR LOOKS GREAT. WILL TELL ALL MY FRIENDS COME TO HERE.
Pros: GREAT ATMOSPHERE
Cons: NOT OPEN LATE
