My in-laws planned a fantastic baby shower for my husband and me, and were initially very excited about ordering the cakes from Fancy Cake Shop. My mother-in-law was optimistic about Tammy and the two specialty cakes and 40 cupcakes she ordered. It started off sketchy when Tammy never emailed the invoice she promised, and when going in to the store to make sure everything was okay, Tammy had some of the information wrong for our cakes, but had the decorations and wording okay. The day of the shower, however, Tammy failed, at everything. To start off badly, 45 minutes after she was supposed to meet us to set up the cakes, she called to say she was going to be late. Finally, Tammy showed up an hour and 15 minutes late, to set up 35 (not 40) cupcakes, and one partially decorated cake. She said she'd be back with the other cake and the tiers to set up the cupcakes. At this point, instead, she snuck the other, undecorated, and half-frosted cake (should have said "Congrats Scott and Melissa" with a Penn State logo) to the back of the hotel, without showing any of us, and left without setting up the cupcakes, or leaving the boxes she promised for us to take home leftovers in. After realizing that the first set of cakes and cupcakes were half decorated, and waiting 30 minutes for Tammy, who never returned, my mother-in-law tried to call to see if Tammy would come finish the cakes. Tammy never answered or returned the 4 calls she made. The cupcake "bugs" were just smily faces with spots, and were supposed to be chocolate and white, but were chocolate and yellow cake. The main "lady bug cake" was a head and spots, no legs, no antennae, no "bug", and was supposed to be vanilla cake, but was a yellow cake. The worst part was the cake she snuck in. When the hotel staff brought the cake out, it nearly brought us to tears. It was supposed to be the great "Congratulations!" cake, and it was a complete disappointment. It was entirely undecorated: two slabs of cake, white icing on top, no words, no picture, no color, not even frosting around the sides.

To be fair, the cakes and frosting were delicious.

So, moral of the story: you may get tasty cake, but it won't be there on time, it won't be decorated, and it probably won't be the flavor you ordered.

This place is probably one of the best kept secrets in Central PA. The owner of the shop is friendly, fun and really cares about what you want out of your wedding or party cake. The buttercream icing tastes amazing and the cake is the most moist I've ever eaten. I am only in the early stages of planning, but they are the best and most affordable out of all the wedding cake decorators that I have been to thus far. A++++!
