OK, it's a little hard to deal with sticker shock in a thrift store, but it's all for affordable housing, it's still way less than the 'vintage' consignment places, it's well stocked, and you can find some fun/funky stuff and some bargains, (not to mention they went toe to toe with Giuiliani, and they're still standing). Housing Works' real find is the book store and cafe on Crosby St. in Manhattan (one of the city's unsung treasures), but the thrift store still definitely worth a look-see when you're in the neighborhood. For the real low prices Goodwill or Salvation Army or Junk in Williamsburg have them beat, but it is well organized, fun and friendly. Go for it. You never know.
