I had been planning my first tattoo for over three years. After several recommendations from friends, I went to the Cloud Nine website and read all the great information provided there... definitely the best tattoo website I've ever seen.

When I entered the Cloud Nine's shop I was amazed by the professional, clean, and friendly atmosphere, unlike so many other shops I've been too. Paul and John explained everything and John was very patient with me as we worked on my tattoo design that I designed myself. He gave me great feedback, ideas, and advice, especially with the font style and size as well as the colors.

The design of my tattoo has a lot of personal meaning to me. John just made it better. He made me very relaxed about the whole thing. The best part was that he, just like everyone at Cloud Nine, was so down to earth. I had no doubts or fears throughout my whole experience there.

I love my tattoo and I've been on a "tattoo high" all week. I can't give this shop a high enough recommendation. My girlfriend is already planning to get her next one there very soon. Cloud Nine is a 5 Star business and more.

The few bogus reviews of Cloud Nine on this site are obviously fake and probably done by their incompetent competition. I challenge them to submit photos and other evidence to prove their claims. The great reviews by far out weigh the phony ones.

Read the Cloud 9 reviews and decided that was the atmosphere I needed for my first tattoo. Getting a tattoo for the first time at 36 was scary, but Marcos calm personality made me feel better. He took a lot of time drawing up just what I was looking for and was great through the whole experience - my sister and I got tattooed at the same time and He was great!! The room was very clean and all tools and things were wrapped up, very sterile environment.I would recommend Marcos to anyone!! Thank You Marcos

I went to Cloud Nine for my first tattoo, and I made a big mistake. The only reason I went there instead of my usual place where I get pierced is because it was a Sunday, and they weren't open. Well, all I wanted was a simple yin yang on the inside of my wrist. The person who did it, who shall remain unnamed, said he had very many years of experience, so I felt I was in good hands. By the way, my boyfriend was with me, and was also getting the same tattoo. I thought, there's no way anyone, even a novice could screw up a tattoo this easy. Boy was I wrong. It looks like a child did it. My boyfriend's tattoo looks horrible as well. And he has a few home tattoos from friends with no experience that look better. We were lucky though, because the other shop we went to fixed our tattoos free of charge. But until we got them fixed, we were embarrassed to show them. Now after having them fixed by someone who knows what they are doing, we are proud to show them off. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. It used to be an awesome place back in the day when it was under different management and had different employees. I've never done a review of a business before, either good or bad, but I thought anyone looking for help should be able to read both the good and bad experiences, and make their own decision.

I went in to get a new belly ring and was surprised at the change it was from Bohemian Rhapsody a few years back. The place is cleaner, staff very friendly, prices were great and I found just what I wanted. My only complaint is parking is horrible but that's downtown Birmingham for you. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I recently had a portrait tattoo done of my daughter done by Ed. There are not words to describe the experience that I had. The whole staff were unbelievably nice and Ed was more than I ever expected. He took probably 4 hrs. to do my portrait tattoo on my right side. Probably could have aken 2 hrs., but he took the time to make it right and more life-like than I ever thought it could be. It looks exactly like the picture. It was tough being under the gun for that long, but it was well worth it. I would definitely recommend going to cloud nine, and would definitely recommend Ed. He is awesome and my whole experience was unbelievable.

I just wanted to stop by and give Cloud Nine my definite Thumbs Up! It was by far the best experience I've ever had getting a tattoo. My artist was intelligent and kind and I've found that not to be the case at some other places. He more then met my expectations, my tattoo was something very special to me personally and he handled it with much respect. I have recommended them to everyone I know. The anonymous review Cloud 9 has received is completely absurd. In the last two months, I have gotten a tattoo on my back and a conch piercing on my left ear (from Cloud 9).

Paul drew up my tattoo to my exact specifications, tweaking it when I looked at the original design and wanted to make a few changes. He was cordial, helpful, and patient with me.

Justin actually did the tattoo. He was friendly throughout and had a very light hand. The tattoo on my back hurt significantly less than my first two tattoos which were less than half its size. It healed up really well and quickly.

Aaron pierced my left conch the other week. He, like the others, was professional and friendly. Ive had more than one piercer be pushy with me and try to get me to use the jewelry they wanted rather than be open to the size and look I wanted. Aaron could not have been more flexible and patient with me as I decided on the placement and jewelry I wanted to match my right conch piercing. The piercing was quick and easy; it barely bled at all, and is healing up rather nicely.

I am more than happy with both my piercing and tattoo. I have received several compliments on both and always recommend the piercers and tattoo artists at Cloud 9.

Cloud 9 is a great shop. Its staff is friendly, professional, and more than willing to work with the customer. They follow standard health procedures and keep a clean shop. After experiencing other shops, I think it is Cloud 9 I will return to when I want another piercing or tattoo (which I plan to do sooner than later).

I received my first tattoo last July at Cloud Nine while visiting a friend in the area. I chose Cloud Nine because of the cleanliness, professionalism and the quality of the artwork. If I ever decide to get another tattoo, I'll wait until my next trip to Birmingham so that it will be at Cloud Nine.

My daughter and I had cosmetic procedures done at Cloud Nine Southside last month and had a good experience. I had the upper and lower eyeliner procedure. My daughter had the eyebrow and upper eyeliner procedure. Everyone was helpful and professional and everything was very clean and inviting. There's a large selection of merchandise to choose from as well as flash art to give you ideas if you're considering another tattoo. I got my first tattoo 9 year ago, in a tent at a Harley Rally, yes the needles were new and he looked like he was cleaning his equipment well between customers but still it was a far cry from the cleanliness at Cloud Nine. Last week I took my daughter to get her tongue pierced. If I lived closer I'm sure that more of my daughters friends would be regular customers. The only complaint we have is that they aren't closer. We recommend that you check them out, you''ll be impressed.

I was just browsing when I decided to check out Cloud Nine Southside's reviews. I recently had two permanent cosmetic procedures done there. My eyebrows & eyeliner look so natural, no one has even caught on. Not even the guy who wakes up next to me every morning! :-) It's been so great, when I step out of the shower I don't have to run for my mascara. I don't have any body art or piercings because I'm a conservative and I don't know much about tattoo studios. I can tell you that once you see how clean Cloud Nine Southside is you'll be impressed just like I was. The Staff is friendly, helpful & the best part was I didn't feel rushed. After all, I wanted to be sure it was perfect since it was going to be on my face for the rest of my LIFE! When I get up enough nerve I'm going back for the permanent cosmetic lip procedure. I'm looking good & loving it thanks to Karri at Cloud Nine!

WTF- I don't know what studio any negative reviewers went to, but it obviously wasn't Cloud Nine...

I drove out from Atlanta to have a pre-existing tattoo added to, and couldn't be happier with the work I received. My artist was Ed, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend both the artist and the studio to my friends and family. I walked out of there with the tattoo I had always wished I'd gotten the first time around, and was proud to show it off as soon as I could, barhopping in B'ham.

Also, I was just as happy with the customization of my tattoo as I was with the quality. Ed took my pre-existing work and expanded on it entirely freehand. NOBODY else out there has my tattoo!

I've had work done in close to a dozen shops in the southeast US, and I've never seen a shop where they had their act together as well as at Cloud Nine. I mean- they've got their Health Department inspection on the wall for you to look at (flawless), as well as their autoclave spore test report on the wall for you to see (also flawless), their floors are buffed and waxed, the walls are clean, the employees are entertaining to say the least, and it's just a comfortable place in general right down to the tattoo chairs themselves! Plus, I watched Ed change his latex gloves close to a dozen times during my tattoo to prevent any chance of cross-contamination, and every needle he got out while working on me was BRAND NEW. It's true I'm not a doctor, but I don't know what else they could possibly do to flat out ELIMINATE the potential for any kind of infections at Cloud Nine. What the hell else could you ask for from a tattoo shop, really?!?

I really don't know what else to say, I just felt compelled to leave an *accurate* and *honest* review after reading some of the other BS reviews on this page- some conveniently posted "Anonymously." I wear the free Cloud Nine shirt I got with my tattoo proudly, and have no problem putting my name to that.

I do not recommend this shop. They seem completely full of themselves, ignoring customer service. They should devote more time and care to what their customer needs. It isn't about the customer at Cloud 9, it's about their egos. I chose another shop.

I only had one tattoo done there but I was so impressed with their work and recommended the shop to all of my friends. After I got my cover-up tattoo, no one ever noticed the old ink underneath it. The color and detail was incredible and still is! I haven't seen any fading yet! The staff is also very friendly and my tattoo artist, Justin, was very patient with me and working with the cover-up. I have already made plans to go back.

I couldn't disagree more with the earlier post about Cloud Nine being a "dirty place". I found them to be clean, professional, and all around excellent when getting my navel re-pierced last year. The piercer was very professional and very clean, and even had great suggestions about jewelery. I also love the selection and variety of merchandise to choose from. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cloud Nine to anyone looking for body art or gifts!

come down and see for yourself. top notch artist brought in from out of town, counter help that will bedazzle the crap out of you, and a friendly environment that actually makes getting a tattoo some sort of fun.

I would highly recommend Cloud Nine to anyone considering having any tattoos or piercings. I received both my tattoo and lip piercing from here. I was very impressed with the sanitary procedures followed by the artists. All needles and materials were opened from sterile packages in front of me before any work was done. Cloud Nine is a very respectable establishment and the quality of work is impressive. The staff is great and very friendly. I highly recommend them and will return there for any future work!

Traveled to Birmingham from Kansas so my wife could get a tattoo. It took 23 hours, so I spent a lot of time in the shop looking around, and talking with the staff. Great people and very clean. I have many tattoos and this shop was the cleanest by far. I also got some work done. I would recommend them to anyone that was looking to have a tattoo or piercing done!!!!

I couldn't believe the review that I read below and absolutely had to write about how wrong it is. I had my navel pierced at Cloud Nine last year and they are spotlessly clean and absolutely fastidious about a sterile environment. I'm studying medicine right now, I know!
I recommend this studio without hesitation. They are very professional and absolutely clean.

My family and I drove 16 hours from Nickerson, Ks all the way to Cloud 9 Southside tattoo. I have 13 tattoos from other places and Cloud Nine is by far the cleanest and most friendly tattoo studio I've been to. I sat for over 3 day's and 24 hours to receive one of the best tattoo's I have. The studio is very clean & smells very nice; there were no signs of any health hazards or drugs. I run my own business and I am very picky when is comes to a place being clean. My husband & I both received excellent tattoos at Cloud Nine Southside. We got to know the other staff members in the time I was there and I was so very happy with the work the artist and the studio that I am already planning another trip to Cloud Nine Tattoo for the summer. My tattoo is full back and it healed up with no problems at all. I was so impressed with the body piercing that I bought jewelry to take home and they are the first place that placed it in a bag with cleaner and gave me instructions on how to care for the new jewelry. On my return trip I have plans on getting another piercing and a lot more tattoos.I would recommend Cloud Nine Southside Tattoo and Body Piercing studio to all that I meet. A big Thank you goes out to the excellent staff of Cloud Nine. A special thank you to my new artist Justin at Cloud Nine.

The previous review is ludicrous and obviously written by someone associated with another tattoo studio that is threatened by both Cloud Nine Southsides excellent reputation and the high quality work that we do. That is why it was anonymous. Cloud Nine Southside is state-of-the-art, very clean and managed by someone who has a masters of science degree in public health, 16 years experience as a public health professional and is a guest lecturer for the UAB School of Public Health. The studio is fully inspected and licensed by the Alabama Department of Public Health (ie. health department), has never failed a single point during an inspection, and has zero complaints. Our tattoo artists and body piercers have successfully completed Bloodborne Pathogens Prevention training with the American Red Cross and, like healthcare professionals, have been vaccinated to protect them from Hepatitis. All precautions are taken to prevent cross-contamination of infectious diseases including, but not limited to, the regular use and changing of latex gloves, thorough cleaning of all surfaces between customers and the use of disinfectants effective against bacteria, viruses, fungus and tuberculosis. Needles are brand new, sterilized before use, and disposed of in a red biohazard sharps container like in a doctors officeneedles are never reused. All instruments are sterilized using industry standard cleaning and sterilization procedures including an ultrasonic and an approved and regularly tested autoclave sterilizer (like they use in hospitals). The staff, artists and body piercers are highly-experienced professionals, sober and take your health and safety very seriously. You can be sure we take all precautions to protect you, even those that the health department doesnt require, while we provide you with high quality body art. I would not go here. It's nasty, and drug dealers run it. Several of the employees have been busted for drug dealing. Beware of Hepatitis from Cloud Nine. Dangerous. They are in denial. Everyone knows they are users. View haveyouever.com to see what you are risking.
