Hugh Calkins, MD is No Good

by Millard F.

I do not believe that going to a teaching hospital is a good idea. I read Adventures in Cardiology. I want to be a patient of this doctor. I would go to someone that I believe is working in my best interest.

Wouldn't go there after reading this story ...

by Cary M.

Google search for "Adventures in Cardiology." It's scary story about a doctor who neglected his patients and then lied to the victims. Go to someone you trust who will tell you the real risks involved and will do the procedure himself instead of letting some kid do it.

Damn near killed me.

by pam w.

Didn't tell me all the risks involved in a procedure. Then he botched it. He betrayed the trust of a patient. He withheld records - and he lied to me.

Fixed my AFIB!

by Richard M.

Dr. Calkins is an absolute pro who understands his practice and can explain it to people outside the profession. A little over three years ago, he performed a cardiac ablation that has fixed my AFIB condition. If you need to speak to someone who has been through this, look me up.Richard McFaul

Bad Experience

by d w.

Handed a dangerous procedure off to a trainee, who screwed up. Then Hugh Calkins lied about it.

For the complete story, Google "Adventures in Cardiology"

This doctor betrayed the trust of a patient.

Dr. Calkins is one of my heroes!

by Tink L.

I have recently found this website and would like to share the review that I gave at another website.

Since the time that I met Dr. Calkins nearly 9 years ago, he has been a huge blessing to my husband and I. Additionally, he has been that same blessing to more than 100 hundred of our personal friends. We and our friends have all had a diagnosis of ARVD in our lives. ARVD (Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia/Cardiomyopathy) is a sudden death cardiac disease. We and our friends have either suffered the near loss of one or more of our loved ones to ARVD or we have actually suffered that hugely painful loss. Dr. Calkins is not only an excellent, experienced, knowledgeable and dedicated doctor and researcher, but he is also sensitive, caring, warm, informative, approachable, and a pleasure to be around. Aside from this he is one of the top experts on ARVD in the U.S. and the World.

Dr. Calkin's care and dedication to saving lives, as well as helping patients to the best quality of life they can have, was the first thing that impressed me about him. He has continued to impress me in this throughout the years I have known him. Friends of mine have travelled to be seen and treated by him from around the country and the world. It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to refer people to him as I know they will receive top notch care from a true physician.

The reviews all seem to be from the same person

by Sharon W.

I do not know this physician but if there is one person who has a problem with this doctor and makes 3 or 4 entries - it does not provide adequate evaluations of him.

As the 3 all seem to report the same issue and 2 are anonymous or anon y and the 4th that shows a different name only states that she would not trust the doctor with her dog's hangnail - the critique only provides on vantage point.

If one person has a problem with him (and I am not by any means demeaning the problem) - the issue is that there are many other patients that the physician sees and treats.

In order to give a rating that I would trust - I need more than 3 ratings from a very unhappy patient's family member and another of questionable origin. The 4th review stated only that they would not trust the doctor with their dog... I would not trust him with my dog either as he is not a vet...

Give more information that is pertinent to why you would not trust this doctor. What specifically has he done that is worthy of a 1 star rating - meaning unsatisfactory???

This is serious business and essential for the reviews to accurately reflect reality and multiple experiences - not one experience trying to gain multiple ratings...
