Customer service could be better but not bad.

by Vicki W. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 479

I signed up with citysearch around the end of October 2008 - for 3 months. Prior to that, when doing searches, my website and/or business name (linked to other sites such as merchantcircle, etc) would come up on page one or two. I was hoping being a featured site would help my business, instead business decreased in the last couple months (of course the great economic bailout impacted it as well - how wonderful).

I asked for a print out of my clicks - but the only one they could give me said the clicks originated from the Cleveland area (which is my marketing area) - I was hoping for more information - such as which city, which sites they clicked on, etc - so I could enhance my advertising in those areas more. It sounds like they are working on a more detailed one - that would be nice. I am still unsure about the clicks being billed properly - according to CitySearch - I have over 1000 clicks - but noone is mentioning the coupons I have linked to the CitySearch sites - but I realize there are a lot of web surfers.

We merged two businesses together in 1994 - but we kept the old name listed along with a second line - CitySearch has linked our featured results to this old name instead of the current business name - the one that is listed on our building, invoices, etc. - I asked to have this corrected numerous times - still wrong. They changed my written text - more to promote AC Delco (we are an AC Delco service center) then to promote my business - without my request or approval.

Originally when I signed up, I thought I had a $500 "click" cap for the three months. I am being told it was $500 per month - my fault - asked for details in writing - did not receive and trusted them - my mistake.

I have asked for answers about my account numerous times, to several e-mails - it took some time (I asked during the holidays - so they were short handed) but they are responding to my requests - in writing as I requested. Their customer service could be a bit better. I just wish the economy would straighten out so the clicks on my business would help me bring in more customers.

Smart people, great team atmosphere!

by annexsu

I love the environment here at Citysearch. The people and teams make it worthwhile to come to every day. Everyone here is committed to making great product and technology, with little to no ego getting in the way. That says a lot about the company and the environment that you have to come to every day - you might as well love being at work!

Additionally, the view from the 4th floor is such an extra bonus. And even though there's a lot of street traffic, the restaurants and shops within walking distance adds to the benefits.

Pros: team work, small, startup feel, smart people

Cons: traffic around Sunset

Citysearch is terrible - SMALL CLAIMS COURT

by aplusangela

As a small business, we depend on our advertising dollars to count. Do not use Citysearch. Our logo turned into a box with an "X" and they stated they could not fix it. Our competition sat right next to us with their logo. It was terrible. We got to pay about $300/month for terrible service and no logo. We did not see any results with them that we can tell. After months of trying to get this resolved, we were promised a credit of $744 to cover months of non-service. I was just informed that our PROMISE was denied. We have email correspondence from two reps confirming our credit and detailing the issues we have had. We cannot even believe that they would take back the promised credit because we are not willing to sign up with them again.

We are taking them to small claims court. Their rep is not even going to show up which allows us to win and even if they do show up, we have documentation of them confirming our credit. For a small business, this is terrible. Do not use Citysearch.

Pros: yea right...

Cons: not enough space to write

BEWARE! DO NOT SIGN UP WITH CITYSEARCH

by Apluscarcare

We used Citysearch as a way to help optimize us online. They did not do even half of what they promised in terms of the basic things. First, our logo ended up being a box with a red "X" in it from just after the beginning of service to the end. They stated this could not be fixed. So basically we got to pay about $300 month for over three months to not have our logo show up on the ad we were paying for.

After MONTHS of trying to get this resolved, we were promised a credit of $744 in writing via email from TWO of their reps. I was just informed that the credit was denied because we are no longer with Citysearch. We are taking them to small claims court.

Being a small business, every penny counts. Do not waste it on Citysearch.

Pros: NONE

Cons: SERVICE & FOLLOW THRU ON PROMISES

Top Notch Employees

by Strife

Employees are friendly and talented. Technology team has a team building experience every Friday and goes and plays soccer together. Free snacks are nice. But all you free loaders need to stop taking all the doritos and save me some.

Pros: Talented Employees, free snacks and soda fountain

Cons: long walk to garage parking lot

Poor Customer Service

by DPETE

I have repeatedly requested that an objectionable post be removed from your site because according to your terms of use under Unacceptable Content, #3. "Reviews submitted by the reviewed business's employees (past or present)" is considered unacceptable. This request was made 42 days ago with no response. The request was resubmitted 2 times since, and was followed up with a phone call, with no response. The employee who submitted the review had been fired for inappropriate behavior at the workplace and has since continued to harrass employees and customers. PLEASE improve your customer service and follow your own guidelines. You have jeopardized my business!
