I have been going to Dr. Garry Levingart for over 20 years. I brought my whole family and all my friends. Every single one of them was amazed by professionalism, expertise and treatment that was done by Dr. Levingart. Ordinary people look like celebrities when they walk out of his office. You should not walk to his office, run to his office! This amazing doctor will make your smile not only beautiful but you will feel confident about your smile.

I thought dr.levingart was one of the most professional and patient doctors that I have visited in my time. He saw me within the ten minutes that I got there and spent as much time as I needed for him to answer my questions and help me with my situation. I strongly recommend this dentist to everyone.

My wife and I have been taken care of by Doctors Levingart for about 20 years. If this does not say anything about the quality of their work, their committment to their patients and their professionalism - nothing will!

I went to this dentist on referral from my insurance company, which covers teeth cleaning. Prior to moving to NY I went to the same dentist for years. It didn't occur to me that a dentist would rip you off. Because of that, I only hesitated somewhat before paying $200 out-of-pocket for some antibiotic insertions.

I was also told that I needed a filling replaced along with a crown and that if I didn't do it ASAP, my "cavity" would possibly progress to where I needed a root canal. The quote was $1800 without root canal. I am busy and broke, so I couldn't schedule the procedure right away. I was going to be back in my hometown 6 weeks later and decided to go to my former dentist to get the work done.

So...according to my previous dentist - who I've known for years and sees my entire family (I trust her) - I did need the one filling replaced eventually, but only sometime within 12-18 months. I did not, however, need porcelain fillings, which was apparently the plan at Levingart (I hadn't been given another option). I also didn't need the crown - there were no cavities in that tooth at all and, while she said some dentists are "more aggressive" with crowns, she recommended against it in my case as the actual procedure sometime leads to needing a root canal.

Cost for getting the filling replaced at my dentist: $200.

I think they have laws or oversight of this type of scam at car repair shops, but apparently dentists can still get away with "strongly recommending" unnecessary work to us unknowing fools.

I actually joined citysearch just to post this review. I don't usually go out of my way to review things, but I feel lied to and taken advantage of!

Pros: Beautiful office on central park (not that it's necessary)

Cons: Dentist is flat out dishonest.

It was my first visit to this office a few weeks ago after being referred by a long time friend. The office is beautiful, and I was educated about the health of my gums the minute i walked in... I'm typically afraid to go to the dentist because my teeth are sensitive...but I told them my concern and they did everything to make me feel comfortable. Even better, they worked with my insurance to identify the best way to get reimbursement so my out of pocket expenses were minimal... They even called me that evening to ask if I needed anything and how i was feeling. This is the best dental office I've been to since moving to NYC 5 years ago..... You won't regret going at all !

DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!!!!
I went in for a crown and got quoted over $2000 dollars...and that's with insurance! I had a different crown put on a different tooth ($800 with insurance) and he permanently scarred my lip during the procedure and the crown was WAY too big. I had to have a different dentist fix it. Then the different dentist put on a crown for under $300 (the same crown I was quoted $2000 for by Dr. Levingart. He (and his assistants) were always pushing procedures/medications that were not covered by my insurance (and they would not tell me these were not covered). Please, please take the extra time to find a different dentist!

This guy is NOT a good dentist. His staff is bad. I met a young mother with three kids in the wtg. room. She was there because she was desparate to have her kids see a dentist and he was the only one her ins. covered.

I waited for THREE hrs. and the emergency work he did on me made the problem much much worse.

I went to dr. levingart after my employer switched my dental plan. She was an "in network dentist" and i made the mistake of confusing the Central Park South address of her office for competent dental care. From the moment I walked into the office both the Dr. and her office staff were trying to sell me various dental procedures. They refused to use the xrays I brought with me from my old dentist instead they took a full set of xrays charging me and my insurance accordingly. Dr.L then told me I would need a $750 onlay to replace some old fillings and then charged me $300 for two filling which she then billed my insurance for despite the fact that I alreayd paid her. They also talked me into a bleaching proceudre saying that it was "on sale" that month. The worst part is that the fillings that I did allow Dr. L to do turned out to be so poorly done that I was in pain for a month. Moreover, she left a huge gap between the tooth with the filling and the adjacent tooth, causing further pain and gum irritation. I called and had her examine the tooth and she basically told me i need to be patient and the pain would go away. Well it didn't, ultimately I had to get the fillings replaced by another dentist! In fact, I had to get a crown over the tooth to repair the damage. Oh and the $750 onlay she was trying to get me to do to replace the fillings I already had on another side of my mouth were completely unnecessary. In fact, my new dentist told me there is absolutely nothing wrong with those fillings. Clearly this woman is just out to make a buck. I guess it's somewhat understandable, her 2 room office is an asbolute dump despite the address. Maybe she's ripping people off to move into better facilites.

I was amazed by this practice's opperation. I found Dr Levingart's practice through my insurance company. For a $15 dollar co-pay, I get a cleaning. Nothing else is covered. When it became clear that I wasn't interested in x-rays or a local antibiotic procedure, I was rushed through a competely unsatisfactory cleaning. Perhaps this office is great if you need everything done, but I didn't even get to see the dentist on my visit.
