Giving this company a single star is making me feel ill. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY. MAYBE if your transaction goes through without a hitch, they'd be "ok" but God forbid you have to return or exchange something.

My story in a nutshell. FEBRUARY 2, 2014 I ordered a coat in SMALL which I needed for a function MARCH 8. It arrived in about a week and was too small. I called and was told that there wasn't enough time to wait for the exchange and I had better order AND PAY FOR A SECOND COAT in medium. I asked if that would confuse things and was told, "Ohhh, not at all. We made note of it on your account." Second coat arrives. Great. Fits. Wonderful.

Now in March I see I still have not gotten credited for the return of the first coat. I call, I email. I call...email x 30. WOOPS! They sent me ANOTHER MEDIUM BY MISTAKE! I call, they say, "Just return it and when we get IT back, you'll get your money." I send it back immediately.

Here we are... APRIL 29, 2014. I STILL DO NOT HAVE A CREDIT FOR THE SECOND COAT! I have ONE coat and have now paid in full for TWO! Multiple, multiple calls to KIM the "customer service" supervisor. NEVER an apology, never a "sorry for the confusion"... ZERO attempt at service recovery.

I just got off the phone with my credit card company. I have put a dispute on the second charge.

The 5 star reviews here are from either exceptionally lucky customers (thank your lucky stars you didn't have an issue) OR more likely, from VTC themselves, to offset these retched reviews.

I have my own business. I order products on line daily. This is BY FAR THE SINGLE WORST online transaction of my life.

Opposite end of the spectrum: ZAPPOS. I ordered a coat. It was too large. I go to their website, easily find my transaction. Print a FREE RETURN SHIPPING label. They allow me to exchange the coat on line and SHIP IT TO ME THAT NIGHT. I have the NEW COAT THE NEXT DAY!! No buying a second coat. They simply notify me when they received back the first. BEAUTIFUL...PERFECT.

VICTORIAN TRADING COMPANY IS A SCAM. Seek your Victorian goods elsewhere. You will rue the day you ordered from this low rent company.

Over the years, I have ordered from this company & always looked forward to getting their various catalogs. I rated them among my top favorites. NO MORE & NEVER AGAIN!

In Dec. 2013, a $200 item arrived damaged due to poor packing.
The general customer service has been easy to get ahold of, but they refer me to a manager, Andrew, who is not easy to reach. No return calls as promised. A full voice mailbox. Having to make several calls before I was able to talk with him. It took persistence to get any of them to check their system to see if my package had arrived yet- they claim -no.

I was not able to track the package online after it left the post office. Victorian Trading Co.'s processing agent that picked it up from the holding area at the P.O. denies that they did so. Victorian Trading Co. claims that the tracking number does not sound like it was one of theirs - too many numbers. This is what makes me distrust them. The label I used was sent to me by customer service! The P.O. scanned the tracking number from the Victorian Trading Co.'s label.

A company should know who their processing agent is. I had it explained to me by the P.O., then turned around & had to explain it to Andrew. The P.O. found it difficult to believe how a company did not know who they contracted with to pick up & deliver their packages.

So, now, near the end of Jan. 2014, the return package is nowhere to be found. I can't make a lost claim with the P.O., because they say that they did their job & turned it over to Victorian Trading Co.'s processing agent. That agent claims never to have picked up the package, so I can't make a lost claim with them- no record of the packages' existence with them => no claim.

Victoria Trading Co. states that they won't send a replacement or refund until they have the item, which doesn't look like that is going to happen, because no one is claiming to have seen the package after it left the P.O..

So, from these other 1 star reviews & my experience to date, it appears that I will be out $200 for nothing. This business with the odd & mysterious labels that seem to make packages disappear is a pretty good scam.

Congratulations VTC. You got me. Do you know my home remodel contractor?

I ordered a goose feather tree for Christmas, and it arrived on time, but filled with dead moths and moth larvae. I immediately called customer service, and it took 5 attempts before I could reach anyone. I was assured I would receive a full refund, and sent the package back using the prepaid label. After waiting a few weeks for a refund, I asked what was going on, and was told they never received the package. Since they use USPS Merchandise Return Service, I asked them to confirm the location of my package on their account. Since then, they have stopped responding to my emails, and I am now reporting them to the BBB and disputing charges via my bank. I would never, ever purchase anything from this company again.

I have been buying from this company for years. There products are beautiful. Sometimes a little expensive but the free shipping that they ALWAYS offer makes up for that. They are clear about the information of their items (size, shape)....someone once wrote in a review that there stuff was made in China. Who cares! if its a great reproduction and product and looks fabulous in your home then who cares who made it. No other company compares. They have exactly what I look for and if you love the victorian era you will love their stuff. There customer service has always picked up the phone...I have never had to wait for a call back and they have always been helpful no matter what I asked of them. Thumbs up to this fantastic company!

If you think ordering from VTC as a regular customer is trying enough, go ahead and open a vendor account with them! They constantly sent me damaged merchandise that I could not possibly have sold to my customers. Yes, they did replace the damaged merchandise (which took forever) but that did not stop them from sending out more damaged goods. All this waiting for either refunds for the damaged goods or replacements really irritated my customers and messed up my cash flow. I simply cannot understand how a Company knows that as a vendor I will be reordering merchandise on a permanent basis but would continue to provide lousy merchandise. My impression is that they just don't care. They put on a good front by apologizing right and left and then continue to send out defective goods. A retailer is only as good as it's supplier.

Ordered several items for my wife. Was not told until I had received some of the items that certain items were on backorder. Ship date for the backorder came and went, I called many times to see when I would receive the item. Was told everytime that the item had just been received and that it would ship in the next day or two. After the 4th time this happened, I asked to speak with a manager. Was transferred to the manager whose voicemail was completely full and could not leave a message (I guess they have lots of angry customers).

Called back, was hung up on. Called back, was told they had no record of me ever calling since they don't keep records, was told they would give a note the manager physically. Never received a callback ever (to this day now months later). Finally after over a month of not getting the item I needed as a gift for my wife (she was very upset), I cancelled the order which they were more than happy to do.

I've been told 3 more times by their social media representative that they would review the logs (that i was told they don't have) and contact me. Still nothing. They have an F with the Better Business Bureau for a reason. Horrible customer service. Never will buy from there again, despite them having very nice products.

It sounds like there are a lot of sick people out there who would like to ruin a companies reputation. It also seems like these people complaininng would be better off to shop at Neiman Marcus where they kiss your ass and serve you wine while you shop. This place does a great job.

I have had the opportunity of working with the wealthy in the past. They are spoiled freakin rotten and NOTHING satisfies them. Sounds what they really need is some sex but of course their husbands are away at the strip club! LOL

If there was a rating below 1 star, it could not be low enough for this place. People at the company who take the orders use fake names like "May West" and "Jane Eyre" etc., so there is no accountability. One of the items I received was completely different than was advertised in their catalog and they gave it a different name on the sales slip in the package. The supervisor (supposed) I spoke to said "It was a "misprint" although it was a paragraph long in it's description. It only got worse from there. I hope this place gets investigated by Consumer Affairs. The other items I got were of far less quality than shown too. After 3 weeks of not receiving a return label from the so-called supervisor, I called back and was told by "Jane Eyre" she would send me a return label. I just received a return label with a different address and a different name to return their "junk" (my opinion) back.
So, I am stuck with this stuff unless I want to lose even more money and ship it myself with insurance etc. Then there is the risk that these people like" May West" would even acknowledge they received it and give me my money back since they won't even acknowledge their real names.
This is the worst place I ever ordered anything from. Buyer beware.

This company is bad. They are slow to ship, and charge a lot for shipping. Special rush just means they don't sit on your order for a week or more (this option is about $3 but uses the same method as standard delivery). Shipping rates are several times what they are for comparable online businesses.

I read all the reviews after I ordered from the company. I do agree that the delivery takes longer than any other company I ordered from. One of the items I ordered arrived with broken glass all over the box. This was not due to UPS but the poor quality packing of the item. I called immediately on receipt and found the customer service representative to be very understanding, apologetic and promised to send a replacement immediately. The receipt in the box does list the person who filled the order and the name of the person that packed the shipment which I told the rep. The replacement arrived in a little over a week and was packed very well and not broken. Their catalog is gorgeous. I certainly did not receive the treatment that some of the reviewers commented on. The representative was skilled in customer service.

I ordered a picture frame collage from this company for $100 which was overpriced in my book. I liked it and couldn't find one like it anywhere. When it arrived it was broken in a million pieces and the glass was sticking out of the box. I called the company 16 times and tried to either get a replacement or a refund. I spoke to Andrew and he said he'd file a UPS complaint. I haven't received a refund or a replacement yet, and its been over five months. Don't ever shop with this company, they are overpriced and have bad service.

This is because they ship it out FIVE days after you make the order. The catalog says that they ship out "the next business day". That is a lie. I ordered a doll from VTC about 3 years ago. Its clothing was horrific, but I sewed a new dress for it. When I went to gently dust it off some weeks later, the cheek color came off. It was supposedly a fired porcelain head, but the colors were just laid on top of the glaze and wiped clean!!! That should have been a lesson to me, but I tried again just this last week and received absolute garbage again. I ordered two lace tablecloths. Each of them was dirty, having black spots, and the edges were unravelled in places. I also ordered a porcelain box that was covered with glue all over the metal closure, and with many pits in the porcelain. Customer service reps tend to be nice and helpful, but sadly they can't do anything about the poor quality. Overall, the items are hideously overpriced garbage. Returns are a NIGHTMARE: good luck getting a refund. I will never order again and requested removal from all mailing lists. This is a company I'd recommend you RUN, not walk, away from. I learned the hard way.

That should have been a lesson to me, but I tried again just this last week and received absolute garbage again. I ordered two lace tablecloths. Each of them was dirty, having black spots, and the edges were unravelled in places. I also ordered a porcelain box that was covered with glue all over the metal closure, and with many pits in the porcelain. Customer service reps tend to be nice and helpful, but sadly they can't do anything about the poor quality. Overall, the items are hideously overpriced garbage. Returns are a NIGHTMARE: good luck getting a refund. I will never order again and requested removal from all mailing lists. This is a company I'd recommend you RUN, not walk, away from. I learned the hard way.

Enchanting! the staff was so warm and there were so many curiosities...I wanted to covet them all! the prices were unbelievable. Upscale, heirloom quality goods for little cost. I had a cup of complimentary apricot tea while I shopped. Spent very little for so many beautiful items. Feel guilty...I WILL return. This is hands down my new favorite shop in KC!

Horrible Customer Service!!!-
I recently ordered two items from this company and paid for next day delivery. Neither item came the next day and I recieved a phone call stating that one of the items was not even expected to be available until a week after I placed the order. (which was information that was not provided when I placed the order). I was charged 3 times on my credit card for the items and when I called for an explanation they told me to call back in a week if the charges didnt' correct themselves! I received 1 item 3 days after I placed it and have still not received the second item or an email regarding it's status. I called the company to inquire about the status and was told it shipped today however I have not email confirmation of that and I payed an additional $26 dollars for next day delivery and it has now been a week and a half. When I asked the customer service rep.. Elizabeth Doolittle (apparently was her name) about why I wasn't notified and mentioned that I had paid for next day delivery her response was "And?". Ridiculous! How do companies stay in business with this poor of accounting and customer service skills!!!! Never order from this place!

My mother recently purchased an item from this company and had it sent to me for Xmas. Upon receipt, it was something I would never use. We talked and agreed I would return it and she to get a refund. Which according to the people at this establishment, was all fine. Not a whisper of "not a full refund." First (without telling my mom) they did not return funds to my mom. They issued a "store credit" without telling her. When she called many weeks later, she was told of said fact. She told them that was not what she had requested. They then agreed to refund. When refund did not appear, she called again. Finally, she received a refund for about half of what she had paid. Upon calling, they said that it was the best they could do. Cited policy that was never mentioned previously in the months preceding actual refund. Never was this mentioned when I called originally inquiring about their policy, nor was it ever mentioned to her in all of the phone calls she had made. Don't do business with these people.

This place does have uniques items; but too many knockoffs from China. Some items seem to have been there forever! The girls working the counter promptly greeted us but busily went back to their gossip. The store is cluttered and overwhelming and is NOT handicap friendly. Be careful if you have a wheelchair or walker! The back tearoom is lush Victorian to the point of being overdone. This store made me tired to shop here.

The Victorian Trading Company holds a vast supply of what my husband calls "frilly" things. They carry romantic furniture, jewelry, hats, linens, etc. Their stationary collection is interesting, and they carry lots of cards, notepaper and other paper products. They also serve tea too, so you can drink while you shop. Parking is sometimes tight when the restaurant next door is serving breakfast and lunch, so go in the late afternoon.
