I don't have a problem with the sales dept. except I was misled about what to expect from their service dept.
I purchased a GE french door, bottom freezer model in January of last year. I knew that GE did not have a very good reputation for dependability so I purchased an extended warrenty. I was told when I purchased what I thought was a service contract that if I had a problem and called for service that they had their own technicians and I could expect someone to come out within 24 hours.
In late October of this year it started making a noise and my husband called for service. It took a lot longer to get the tecnician out here than I was told it would. He listened to the noise and said that they would put in a claim with the warrenty company to get the part ordered and it would take about a week.
The service dept called me aournd the middle of November and told me the part had been ordered and they would be out on December 7th to replace it. By this time the fridge was only cooling to 46 degrees and I told the lady I needed it repaired sooner. On the 27th the tech replaced the part and the fridge hasn't cooled below 50 degrees since. Called them this am and was told they have to go thru MY warrenty company to get the part. If I didn't have an extra fridge in my garage I would have been without a fridge for over a month and East Coast could care less

This actually 2 reviews. One is the sales staff, which were quite knowledgeable and nothing more needs to be said about them except they weren't pushy and they knew their products. The second is the delivery service. Yes it was a Sunday delivery, but, don't make promises you can't keep. No 3 hour advance call, no 1 hour advance call. In fact, we got a call 15 minutes before they showed up. The crew was friendly and cleaned up after themselves, BUT, they didn't take the time to properly level the refrigerator according to the manufacturers requirements. After they left, my wife opened the door and the entire unit rolls out away from the wall. I had to get out a level and screwdriver and adjust it properly so the door would swing closed as noted in the owner's manual. total time? 10 minutes.

My new washer and dryer were delivered this morning and I'm thrilled! From the delivery professionals--Rodney and Joe--to our salesman, Mike N., our experience was a great one. Rodney, Joe, and Mike were very knowledgeable, courteous, and ensured that we were happy as their customers. East Coast Appliance happily price matched, including free delivery. Thank you, Rodney, Joe, and Mike N. ! Order #336650-1

I stopped by East Coast Appliances 8 days ago to look at Microwave ovens. I chatted with the sales rep that we were updating our kitchen and were going to be putting in new appliances soon. He showed us a GE Stainless Steel microwave at a good price, so we bought it. He made no mention of a 7 day return policy. As fate would have it.. on the 7th day/evening we were able to install the microwave. It didn't work. The turntable only works intermittently, and it took almost 6 minutes to heat one piece of KFC chicken. We called on the 8th day to report the issue and were told that they could send out a tech 6 days later.. (2 days after Christmas) to look at it. I told them I would just bring it back and get a new one, and they said, No.. we have a 7 day return policy. It would have been nice if they would have told us that to begin with.. we would have waited. So.. basically.. we're screwed and their answer is.. we'll get to it when we can.

Update: After the first time the tech came out.. the microwave stopped working again. So I had to schedule another visit. I received a call that ECA was ordering parts and that the parts would not be for another 18 days. Needless to say I was frustrated.. fortunately I was dealing with Brooke J. She went the extra mile to try to fix the situation and called me back 15 min later and told me I could take it back and get another microwave. Brooke gets 5 stars.

We purchased our appliances here for our kitchen remodel. Our salesman, Mark Loudin, was very knowledgeable and helpful and they had the best prices. Ian Moore installed our dishwasher (#308499-1) and he did an outstanding job. He was very pleasant and courteous and left the work area neat and clean which is always helpful. Not only did we get the best prices for our appliances but we had wonderful customer service. I would highly recommend this company.

Bought a slide in range and the salesperson (Cora) was wonderful! Very courteous and professional. It was installed by Ian who did a fantastic job. He was knowledgeable about the product and was very meticulous about cleaning up after he was finished. I would recommend buying from East Coast Appliance over any of the "nationally" branded stores. East Coast gives you personal attention and has a "family" feel to their service.

Recently purchased a new dishwasher from the Battlefield Blvd store and had it installed. The installer, Ian, was the best we have ever seen in our 20 plus years of home ownership and appliance purchases. He was clean, courteous, timely, and extremely informative. His demeanor made for a pleasant installation experience - something of a rarity in today's slackluster service sector. Overall we were so impressed we are looking forward to our next appliance purchase from East Coast as long as Ian or service technicians with his work ethic provide installation. Thanks, great job young man!

Sincerely,

From a couple of picky consumers that rarely dole out compliments.

Me and my wife came into EastCoast Appliance 2 weeks ago, and bought a Ge Profile fridge. While were in the store looking at the new products the sales person told us about there scratch and dent. Well we found the model we were looking for at $500 cheaper. We will be back to buy more appliances.

My husband and I purchased a GE front loader washer and dryer at the Chesapeake location approximately one month before our upcoming cross country move (which the sales associate was notified of). When we purchased the set we were told the hot/cold supply lines had to be purchased separately. Ironically, we were also told to go to Home Depot, they are cheaper there. When the movers arrived it was discovered that the hipping bolts had been removed from the washer (required to avoid the wash drum from crushing the internal computer during shipment). I contacted East Coast Appliance (ECA) assuming this was an easy resolution, WRONG! First I was told this is standard procedure when appliances are delivered to a customer (ironically, they did not deliver the appliances, we picked them up). After almost 2 hours talking to three different departments I was still no closer to a resolution. I even had to provide the part number for the shipping bolt kit to ECA (the moving company was able to obtain this information faster than ECA could). I was finally offered bolts from another appliance (at another location which I had to go pick-up). Neither delivery nor service was offered. To no surprise, the bolts did not work. Bottom line: Service is HORRIBLE, vital parts of the appliances are missing and they have no interest in helping customers. You might get a "good deal" on your appliances, but you get what you pay for! Save yourself the time and headache, purchase elsewhere!

We recently moved into a new appartment and decided to buy a washer and dryer instead of renting from the appartment complex. We stopped by East Coast Appliance in Chesapeake and shopped around. The saleslady we were talking to was great. She was knowledgeable and was not pushy with us. We decided on the Bosch set and proceeded to order. We let her know that we wouldn't be able to have them delivered until the 17th, and she told us the dryer was on back order, that we would have it a few days after the 17th. We told her that was acceptable and paid for everything in full, including the delivery cost. We placed the order on the 7th. On the 22nd we still hadn't heard anything so I called to check the status. Our saleslady wasn't there, and the gentleman on the phone told me that the dryer was available, but now the washer was not. He put in a note to our saleslady to call us back. She called the next day to let us know that the washer wouldn't be available now until the next month on the 24th. That's nearly 2 months from when we originally ordered it! She said that it was that way everywhere, all Bosch's were in back order, no matter where you go. So we went over to Lowe's, right down the street from them, who had the washer on hand. We called and told them to refund the washer and just have to dryer delivered. They delivered that the next day, but it was dirty and the dryer hose did not come with clamps (which it was supposed to) and they told us to go out and get them ourselves, which we did. The very first time I dried a load of laundry it came up with an error message, and has continued to do so ever since. We called to let them know the next day and they asked if we saw the delivery men remove it from the box, which we didn't. I really believe that they gave us a used dryer. We are still waiting for service on our dryer. I do not recommend this store to anyone. They will tell you anything to keep your money, and the service is poor.
