You won't be sorry if you meet Mychelle ! ! !
by Jan C.
Going to meet Mychelle was the greatest experience! I am from NC and chose to travel to have this procedure performed. The cost was more than if I had stayed close to home, especially considering the added price (not to mention hassle!) of airfare and hotel. However, it was well worth the added expense and trouble. There are a few reasons for this:
1) No practitioner in NC even tries to do eyeshadow (liner only) and Mychelle isn't just experimenting with it. She is an expert.
2) Mychelle is affiliated with a physician and provides sedatives as well as a local anesthetic (this is not done in my state).
3) Mychelle made the entire stay as relaxed as possible (when I arrived, she picked me up at the airport, after the procedure she drove me to my hotel, and the following day she returned me to the airport for the flight home). Though it could have been done by taxi, it was far more pleasant to have Mychelle wait on me!
4) Mychelle is no doubt a professional with tons of experience, references, credentials, knowledge and this is a full time occupation for her (this is not true of many others whom I interviewed prior to meeting Mychelle).
5) The results are phenomenal!
Why did I even need anesthesia? No one in my home state uses it. And I have decorative tattoos that weren't all that painful. But this is a delicate area so I opted to fly to Tulsa. As it turned out, I could not have gone through this process without the anesthesia. I even asked Mychelle for more once she started working. This HURTS! Don't women who get permanent makeup without anesthesia hurt so much that they can't finish the process? I am certain that had been known to happen. In addition, the fact that I was completely relaxed and as comfortable as possible, gave Mychelle the opportunity to do a far superior job. Mychelle was able to tattoo me deeper and add more color than could have otherwise been possible.
The work that Mychelle did will last a minimum of twice as long as if it had been done without the anesthetic. Sure, it cost a little more but the difference was very small when one considers the cost, trouble, risk, and pain of doing this again in 3 to 5 years (Mychelle's work will still be visible for up to 10 years).
My only regret is that I only got my eyes done. Unfortunately, I am not a good candidate for getting my lips done. If Mychelle was doing this just to make a few $$, she could have done my lips (I was wanting her to do them). I would have been sore and swollen for a while. I would eventually have healed, gotten any necessary touch up done locally, and Mychelle would have filled her pockets at my expense. Instead, she told me that I would not be happy with the results. That proves to me the Mychelle is full of integrity.
If I had it to do over again, I most certainly would! And Mychelle at Aura Of Beauty if the only practitioner whom I would seek out to do the procedure! My only hope is that when I need a touch up in 10 years, she has not yet retired! If you are thinking about getting permanent makeup, I highly recommend it. I would not go to anyone other than Mychelle.
There is one funny thing for me to add: I have NEVER in my life worn makeup. I used only the very occasional mascara (it was a rarity for me to go through that ritual), and no liner ever. So it was a big step for me to decide that I wanted permanent makeup at all. If I cared about makeup, you would think that it is something that I have played with all my life. Not so with me. I have never had the interest, let alone the skill, to apply makeup. I understand that it's an acquired skill but it is one that I have never practiced. I don't know why I suddenly decided that I wanted makeup except that I thought that it would look nice and permanent makeup would save me the trouble of having to learn how to do it myself. It worked! The liner that Mychelle put on me has made my eyes look wide and open. And I do not need to use mascara.

the eyebrow expert

While discussing an appt for permanent eyebrow makeup on the phone, Mychelle said that getting the eyebrow design right could take years off your appearance. Did it? I put my picture in the photo gallery; you be the judge.

My permanent makeup was done last summer, and the photo I am adding was taken this year. I had eyeliner and lips permanent makeup procedures at Aura Of Beauty in Tulsa. The artists name is Mychelle Tulk RN. She can make the permanent makeup tattoo machine do things different from what everyone else is doing. Her work is really really good! She asks what you usually wear, & how you wear it. Then she goes over different styles or looks that she can create or duplicate. I was torn between defined and smudgy. I like black, and dramatic. I also line the lower rim of my eyes. So what we came up with is the lower rim lined in a defined style, but smudged out into the lashline on the outer half for a smokey look. My upper eyelids have kind of defined black, then topped with a dark smokey charcoal. It is more defined than smudgy, but gives it a softened top. I requested a match to my favorite lipstick. That came out perfect. It was not just a match of the lipstick color, but a match of how the lipstick color looked on me. The high lips price here is worth it because her color is always even. You dont see that gross tye-dye look with light and dark spots. This is all done in one procedure, mind you. I did not have to go back over and over. Sweet!

My eyebrows are permanent makeup. I had seen permanent makeup on other people before I got my eyebrows tattooed. The eyebrows done by Mychelle Tulk are the best shaped and colored. She is the only one that you can call permanent makeup artist with the true meaning of artist in it. Her room is pretty and relaxing. Soft background music plays in harmony with tickling sounds of a waterfall. After the numbing shots which are not pleasant, you are completely numb. I fell asleep. My eyebrows were perfect and did not need a touchup. I am pleased with my eyebrow investment. I picked up more business cards to give to the ladies in my water exercise class. We all have waterproof makeup now.

Permanent makeup sounded good. I looked around Joplin at examples and did not find anything that was even in the same ballpark with the type of work that Mychelle Tulk does. I went to Tulsa to have my permanent makeup done. Mychelle is a powerhouse of information about looking good. I took my picture before, and than after a few months replicating the same lighting, clothing, pose, and all other variables. My eyebrows made the most difference as you can see. My eyeliner looks neat and tidy. It picks my eyes up and makes them look younger and shaped better. Mychelle gave me tips on what to do with eyeshadow to reduce the puffy look (although suggests a cosmetic doc). I took in a lipstick for a color match. She added a tad outside the bottom lip center to make the bottom more like a U shape to be more of a smile, which also makes the corners look more picked up. Not enough to be noticeable or fake. She explains all this with all the options. If you need a real expert, go to Aura Of Beauty. There is a lot more involved than just knowing how to use a permanent makeup machine.

I wouldn't have risked getting permanent makeup if I hadn't seen first hand how Mychelle does it. Hers has the variations and soft lightened edges that looks better than what my makeup artist can do. I got permanent eyeliner and lip color.

I got Lucky

Yes, I got lucky because I didnt go somewhere else for permanent makeup. My sister and I both wanted permanent makeup. We did our homework, reading all the information available on the internet. Then we began the process of finding someone in Tulsa to do it, as there is not anyone doing permanent makeup in Bartlesville. We called around getting prices, went for consultations and looked through books. We wanted the hairstroked brows and softened or smudgy eyeliner. We found a much lower price than at Aura Of Beauty, and the girl said she could do all those things. My sisters procedure was first, mine was planned to be a few weeks later. After my sisters healed in about a week, it was not anything near what was expected. I knew I didnt want any of what my sister got, and decided to fork out the extra dough to do it right or not do it at all. I had my permanent makeup procedures done by Mychelle. As you can see, it looks great.

I have had all three permanent makeup permanent makeup procedures performed by Mychelle Tulk, RN at Aura Of Beauty. All of it is so pretty. My eyebrows look soft and natural, done with hair strokes in a few similar colors. My eyeliner is black-brown with a bronze powder-look shading alongside it. My lips are a coral mix. I slept through the majority of the procedures. Her procedure room is heavenly with the waterfall art, tabletop waterfall, and soft music over ocean sounds. Everything healed perfect and I didnt need touchups on any of it. I am putting my picture on here so everyone can see how nicely done it is. You have to click the photo gallery button to see it.
I actually had gone somewhere else first for eyeliner. I wasnt happy with it, which is why I started looking elsewhere and found Mychelle. The first time at the other persons office, the application hurt like the dickens, and I ended up with a dull thin line that just wasnt pretty (at least it wasnt all messed up). When I looked through Mychelles portfolio and saw how nice her makeup was, I jumped in for eyebrows and eyeliner. That turned out so good I went back for lip color. It has been almost a year, and as you can see from the picture, it is perfect.
Anyone considering getting permanent makeup needs to look at Mychelles work before wasting money going somewhere else. It may be tempting to take a chance with someone else who is charging less, but less is exactly what you will get. When it comes to permanent make-up, nobody does it better than Mychelle, so call Aura Of Beauty.

Mychelle Extraordinaire!
by Charles M.
My wife went and had permanent makeup done at Mychelles office (which is actually Dr Halls office). We were impressed with her knowledge, skill, and caring professionalism. This was my wife Birdys second time around with permanent makeup. She had her eyebrows and eyeliner done in the early 1990s by someone else, before it was much known about. The first time, a lady came to our house and did the procedure with Birdy lying on the livingroom floor. This time, I felt much better taking Birdy to a medical office and having a medical person do the work. Birdy is older now, has a heart stent, and is on several medications. I went up to the office with her and listened in a little while as Mychelle (a registered nurse) explained things and went over the options of makeup design. I was confident that Birdy was in good hands and went on home. Hours later I was called to come and pick her up. Birdy was very happy with her new makeup, although a little swollen and a little drunk. At the doctors office they give sedation plus numb the part they are working on. Birdy said it was the best nap she has had in a long time. During the night, Birdy woke up about 3am. In a half asleep daze, she reached up and started rubbing her eyes. It caused her severe pain. After a half hour of nonstop crying, I called Mychelle. Mychelle said Birdy probably scratched her eye with her fingernail or rubbed her eyelashes into her eyeball. Mychelle came over, arriving about 4am, and gave her some pain relief to last until the pharmacies opened and they could call in prescriptions from the doctors office. Birdy would not open her eyes all day. The following day, Mychelle made another house call to check on her. Birdy was much better this day, and we were both grateful that 1) we had gone to a medical office that could help us with any complications, and 2) that Mychelle cares enough to get out of bed in the middle of the night to go help her patients. If anyone else had done the procedure, I would have had to take Birdy to the ER, where she would have sat crying for hours until they would get to us, and then we would have had the ER bill to pay. It has been a few months now, and Birdy is still excited about how good her makeup looks. Her friends thought so too, and also went to Mychelle. I am not one to write reviews unless it was something extraordinarily good or terrible. I sing praises about the nursing care given by Mychelle, and Birdy sings praises about the lovely makeup applied by Mychelle. We strongly recommend that anyone wanting permanent makeup go to none other than Mychelle extraordinaire!
