I have been going to this Y since 2007. I use the special needs room sometimes due to back problems. Well someone always unlocks the door when my daughter and I are using it.Once a man walked in, another time it was a women. I told the staff no one cares. On Saturday I took my daughter to swim lessions on the wall was a cockroach, I told someone the staff member she just threw it in the garbage. Don't you think if there is one cockroach there are alot more crawling around the Y.There is so much mold on the ceiling in the indoor area. Very gross, then lessions were over headed to the girls locker room. I took my 9 year old to the shower area what I saw was very upsetting. There was an asian women naked showering with the other kids. Kids of all aged young to preteens showering with her.I just wonder how long has this be going on.The showers are not working right either there is no hot water or the showers do not turn on. I told the front desk staff on my way out. All they said was I'll have someone look into it. I don't think anyone will do anything about it.This place needs to be torn down rebuilt so old but that will never happen. I am now looking for a new gym so my daughter can continue her swimming lessions. I get very disgusted when ever I walk into this place.

I have been going here for several years. Its close, reasonably clean, maintenance is a bit lackluster (things seem to take forever to get fixed) and there's not much in terms of improvements unless you are into spinning or some other form of aerobics. The communications with the members in terms of change is dismal at best, they don't solicit member input to what they want to do, work in a complete vacuum, and tend to surprise those who are affected after the fact with a "too bad" attitude.Case in point, weight room was significantly reduced in size and location changed, and no one who used the weights had any idea about this. Affected a lot of old timers who had been going there for years, many of who had quit because of it. The sad thing is that the management just doesn't get it, or seem to really care. We have raised this with the management and area directors, they smile, don't say much, and effectively dismiss suggestions that are not in line with what they have decided that the members want. They are also quick to point out that you can go somewhere else if you don't like it.They also frown upon and try to stop any form of member focus groups, meetings or discussions to solicit feedback/input. What are they so afraid of?

I too have been a member for a long time- over 18 years, and I agree the Central Y has definitely deteriorated. Machinery such as bicycles- lifecycles are old and rusted. There are holes in walls. Showers are constantly out of order. Management does not care- and is actually hostile at times. There are plenty of gym choices out there- the Central Y should be at the bottom of any list.

A member for over 25 years, this Y's service has deteriorated. Locker rooms, pools and spa are not up to standard. Management continues to take too long for repairs, and some facilites are permanently closed (men's spa and men's steam room). A strong push to cater to families and kids at the expense of adult members. Complaints are ignored. Despite the mounting shortcomings, I continue to stay because of price and convenience.

This would be my choice when it comes to Family workouts. I think The YMCA does its part in a remarkable way to bring families together and enjoy, while working on their body.

Their membership for a family of 4, comes to around $85/ month which works great if you look at all the programs they offer. Their facility is equipped with the best gym, swimming pools, basketball and tennis courts.... You could go for their guest membership which lets you use their facility free for 3 days. Their outdoor swimming pool is a maximum 5' deep. The kids pool starts from 2.5' to 3.5 '.

They have a lot of classes for kids especially during the summer season. Overall, its a good place for people from all walks of like to relax and have fun.
