Dr. Larsen has done well by our neutered male Maine Coon cat Reggie (now 9) since we brought him out to Santa Clara CA from Wellesley MA (We got him on a dairy farm in Vergennes VT.) I don't know whether her rates are high, but her skills seem worth them.

I have been going to Carole Larsen for about 20 years and she has treated my cats and dogs with amazing care. I love her no nonsense way of treating pets that doesn??t always involve expensive tests and treatments. She spent hours with me over the first two years of my Akita/Pit Bull??s life helping me with behavioral training and figuring out a sensitive digestive track issue. Not many other vets are willing to spend 30-40 minutes during an appointment on behavioral training for both me and my dog. And when it was the end of my various pet??s lives, she and her staff were there with extreme compassion making sure I knew what my options were and how much discomfort my pet was in so the right decision could be made at the right time, each being unique. I have recommended Dr. Larsen to many of my friends. They have saved money going to her because Dr. Larsen does not believe in unnecessary testing just to make money. I realized how much I appreciated her approach to pet care when I went to another Vet??s office when Dr. Larsen was out of town. He wanted to charge me for hundreds of dollars for unnecessary work on my cat who had a simple puncture wound. Thank you Dr. Larsen for being such a wonder Veterinarian and taking such great care of our pets!

I usually don't participate in these rating pages, but I was looking up Dr. Larsen's number for a referral when I found this page with less a less than pleasant rating. I feel I need to give my two cents! I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Larsen for at least 20 years now. One dog lived to the ripe old age of 17. The other is now 3. She has always treated my animals with kindness and a gentle hand. What I like best about her is that she is very "no nonsense." She always has time to listen and can always get me into an appointment quickly. As an owner of a dog with food allergies, Dr. Larsen offered a very simple, inexpensive process of elimination process to determine which products my dog was reacting to. It was a breath of fresh air compared to the $2,500.00 grid screening another vet was insisting be performed. She is kind, reasonable, well informed. I moved to the east bay about a two years ago, but after trying several very good vets in the area, I decided to return to the south bay for my dogs vet care. Yes, I drive an hour each way to take my dog to Dr. Larsen.

I think Dr. Larsen if you want to call her a doctor is very cold and handles the cats carelessly. I think she is rude and throws around the animals when looking at them like she could careless if they are in pain or not. She charges very high prices. I would never recommend her to anyone unless you want your animal to die.
