We started going to The Dawg Wash when we got our first dog almost 2 years ago and wanted to make sure we were buying the best quality food for her, and Central Dawgma (the retail store side of The Dawg Wash) did NOT disappoint! They carry all the best, highest quality brands of food and treats for both dogs AND cats. They even sell frozen raw which my dogs get on occasion. Their prices are very reasonable, I once had to run to Mt Airy to get dog food because I didnt get home in time to get to Central Dawgma, and the other store's prices were MUCH higher. I also love the frequent buyers program they have there if you use Natura Pet Foods (which we do), your 13th bag is free! Everyone there is very friendly and knowledgeable, they ALWAYS ask if they can help me out to my car (I always buy the biggest dog food bags, we have 2 VERY big dogs). My only complaint is that they could maybe carry a bit more in the way of other supplies, but I know their space is limited. For other supplies we usually go to Pet Valu.

I love this store. I've been patronizing them since they opened several years ago. It's located on E. Patrick Street in the East Gate Shopping Center, near Roy Rogers and Belles. There is free parking in front of the store, as well as around the back (which is convenient when you bring a dog in for a wash).

One half of the store is "The Dawg Wash," with about six dog washing tub areas. Each tub area has a door and walls so the dogs can't see each other. Each tub has a walk-up ramp for the heavier dogs to use. There are several cruelty-free shampoos and conditioners in the dispensers at each tub, and each tub has a blow-dryer within easy reach. There are also ear and eye wipes, nail clippers, brushes, towels, and aprons (for you) at each station. My dogs don't like the bathing process, but having everything there makes it a little easier on me. The staff always check on you to make sure you're doing ok. Prices are reasonable (I pay about $10 for my small dog), and they have a wash-club card where you buy 10 washes and the 11th is free. Much easier than trying to bathe the dogs in your home's bathroom! I'll never go back to doing that.

The second half of the store is "Central Dawgma." This is a wonderful place to browse. They carry most of the best brands of food. Everything is high quality: nothing with byproducts, glutons, corn, etc. I have bought my dog food here ever since they opened.... so nice having such a huge selection in Frederick. The staff will even carry the food to your car. Great service! In addition to quality food and treats, they also carry supplies such as leashes, collars, bowls, beds, vitamins, toys, etc. There is also a separate training area for classes, and they often have a cat or two for adoption. The store is rescue-friendly, with information about local rescue groups and adoptable animals.

The owner and staff are very knowledgeable about food and other pet issues. Leashed dogs are welcome, of course. Great, fun place to shop!
