Whenever I have a special function to attend the first place I usually go to is Marisols. I love the unique styles and the friendly service that I always receive.

I have bought formal attire 2-4 times a year for the past five years, and this was the worst experience by far that I have had. My dress ($165) had to be ordered and I was not informed of the additional $25 shipping fee until the last minute (this would normally not be a problem if the rest of the experience was satisfactory). The dress was promised to be delivered on a Tuesday a week and a half later. I called on Tuesday and was told Wednesday. I called on Wednesday and was told Thursday. On both of these occasions, Marisol was not at all concerned, which may be because the store has a "No cash refunds" policy, so she knows that once she has your money, you're at her mercy. I went to the store on Thursday and was told it was not there and wouldn't be for several more days. Since the function I was attending was that Saturday and the dress still had to be altered, this was unacceptable. I made a point of being polite; I have worked retail and understand that being rude gets you nowhere. The sales lady (not Marisol) that was there was rude to the point of obnoxiousness, but she finally found my dress. What the problems really are: 1.) had Marisol phoned to inform me of the problem and/or offered a refund of the shipping price (she made a guarantee that she did not keep, and she could have been reimbursed by UPS if they had guaranteed her a date) I would have understood; and 2.) once the sale was made, neither Marisol nor her horrid saleswoman made any attempt to continue a working relationship- the sale and commission were done, why try anymore? I had heard three other stories along these same lines, but went into the store anyway, and at first Marisol is very charming and goes out of her way to show you how to wear the dresses and the best accessories for them, plus tips on your hair. However, once you pay, the story changes. If you do decide to shop there-and I stongly suggest you run screaming in the opposite direction- be sure to leave a few weeks of cushion time.
